This news really has knocked me on my @ss tonight. We are all casual friends in a sense, but bound tightly by a love of the Rams. Dave will probably be the last Ram's fan who enjoyed the 1951 Rams Championship, as much as the 1999 Super Bowl, that I will ever know. The whole mortality thing has put me in a funk and the years we spend here, chatting about the yearly cycle the Rams put us through: Off season; Free Agency; NFL Draft; OTA's; Mini Camp; Training Camp; Pre Season Games; Regular Season games; Playoffs (please!)...then do it over again, year after year. Dave is a case in point that being a fan is more of a journey than anything else. If it's only about the Championships, how unsatisfying this all would be as Ram's fans?
I remember a scene in "When Harry Met Sally" when Billy Crystal's character "Harry" spoke of the loneliness of a New York Death...Something about dying alone in an apartment without anyone knowing about it until the odor wafted down he hallway. That's a lot like what happens when losing an internet friend to death, especially if personal info is not known. So I'm sorry if I disappear on you guys one day.....

I'm devastated, man. Dave was my dude. It was always so much fun to chat with him. I'd have loved to grab a beer with the guy. I'm sad I'll never have that opportunity. My condolences to his loved ones. He is a great man.
(I say "is" because Dave may have passed, but he'll always be with us in spirit.)

Dave!!! Say it ain’t so!!!!

We will miss you brother!!! I’m sure the bold, italics and exclamation keys on your keyboard are worn out with all the love you have been pouring out to us fellow Ram fans for years!!!!

Now is the time when you are supposed to be doing the 100 day countdown to season kickoff, Dave!!!

I had to pull off the side of the road when I looked down and saw this thread title. I got a lump in my throat. What we all feared is true.

My prayers to Dave’s wife, and to his sweet granddaughter and his kids. We all loved Dave.

I can just see Dave saying:

Hey guys!!! Looking forward to the season so much!!! Wish I could share it with you, but me and my buddy Deacon will celebrate together!!!

Hope to see you all some day!!!

That's a great picture.
A very positive fan and I'm sure a very positive person.
Very sad indeed.
Dave will always be missed here and many other places I am sure.

NOOooo! Nooo No !!

I am truly upset by this information.

Like so many others on this forum, I Loved DaveFan'51's postings. He was as big of a Rams fan as anyone on any NFL message board.

What a heartbreaking loss to lose such a great human being and positive fun poster, that was a joy to read here on the ROD community.

I have smiled and laughed at my computer screen several times reading many of Dave's posts since I joined ROD.

We are close to the start of the 2018 season when the Rams are probably going win the Super Bowl and we lose this great Rams brother.

We will miss you dearly "DaveFan51"

May God ease the pain of his loss to all of his family and friends.

Dave was easily one of the most influential members on this board. We will all miss his positivity, passion, and knowledge but, most importantly, Dave was an great person. I am very thankful I was able to share in a portion of his life and my thoughts/prayers are with his family.

Terrible news. I've only been on this board a short time, but it really is like an extended family. Our Ram family has lost a patriarch. My condolences to Dave's family and friends. If The Almighty is not a Rams fan, he will be soon after spending some time with Dave!!!!
RIP DaveFan51
