This news really has knocked me on my @ss tonight. We are all casual friends in a sense, but bound tightly by a love of the Rams. Dave will probably be the last Ram's fan who enjoyed the 1951 Rams Championship, as much as the 1999 Super Bowl, that I will ever know. The whole mortality thing has put me in a funk and the years we spend here, chatting about the yearly cycle the Rams put us through: Off season; Free Agency; NFL Draft; OTA's; Mini Camp; Training Camp; Pre Season Games; Regular Season games; Playoffs (please!)...then do it over again, year after year. Dave is a case in point that being a fan is more of a journey than anything else. If it's only about the Championships, how unsatisfying this all would be as Ram's fans?
I remember a scene in "When Harry Met Sally" when Billy Crystal's character "Harry" spoke of the loneliness of a New York Death...Something about dying alone in an apartment without anyone knowing about it until the odor wafted down he hallway. That's a lot like what happens when losing an internet friend to death, especially if personal info is not known. So I'm sorry if I disappear on you guys one day.....
