I don’t disagree. But they get that 3rd sooner and it’s higher than a comp.
I would think Chubb is worth a second.
Understood and agree with the first sentence. Problem is that there are 30 other teams; and more than a couple could be interested. That's why I think a trade could require a 2nd round pick (maybe a 3rd and 4th).

The gamble for the Rams would be a likely 3rd round comp pick (around #100 overall) in 2024, in exchange for a mid-to-late second rounder (say #50-60 overall) in 2023, plus three months of Bradley Chubb ... assuming Chubb leaves via free agency.

But Von was a 2nd and 3rd. That’s much more than a 3rd, forth and 6th as proposed here. Plus, Von leaving was a 5th comp back — whereas Chubb is likely a 3rd back. We also paid extra for Von due to having the broncos take on more of his salary. Overall, and I’m not an even a big fan of Chubb, I think that’s a reasonable/acceptable amount to give up for him. Honestly I think it’s light of anything

I understand that, but the Rams have serious future depth needs which don't really allow me to easily give up our higher end 2023 draft picks. If there's one theme to my debates here it's that giving up 2024 draft picks, however high, are much more preferable than giving up what we have in the upper ranges of our 2023 draft. jmo.

One of the only ways I make a trade for Bradley Chubb would be if FOR SURE an extension was done. Can't keep up with these rentals.

Would love to get Meinerz, but I think he is their only OL playing well. Not sure they would give him up in a fire-sale, just to have another hole in the OL to have to fill. However, I have been wrong before. LOL
Linemen are hard to trade. They are the last line of defense from getting the most important player killed on the team the QB. Not saying your wrong about Meinerz but if I was a team I would NOT trade any lineman who starts because all you did was up your chances QBs such as Wilson get hurt and how much did they pay for him you all get my point. I don't see hardly one name on the trade blocks at any position on the line except for a sixth man type who is definitely good but is that person going to make a significant difference. Von made a huge difference.

I took believe if we go a aNelson or Bitonio type LG or Tunsil at LT much of problems disappear but it feels very unrealistic. Maybe GMs are not as precious as how I feel they should be and if the player is on the last year of their contract and they know to resign that lineman will be problematic maybe they let him go I just haven't heard one name honestly.

How could Florio (or anyone, Napoleon) possibly know that?

Maybe Denver trying to squeeze more because we play the niners and we know how crucial on so many levels the game is.

Also Denver is in London or going to London rt?

I've been listening to Denver's top podcaster he thinks Chubb can be had for a 4th. They have no leverage with Chubb after next Tuesday he is a UFA in 2023 so they need to get what they can. They feel good about Browning and don't feel they need Chubb. He will always be a question mark to teams on all the games he missed in 5 years - 24. So teams will have pause.

This year is a weird year due to all the parity. That parity is reducing the # of viable trade partners. By the trade deadline there are usually more teams willing to deal.

yup.
Bit of a gamble & they need to have a real plan.
But that investment is one reason I see someone like Hughes as a good option.

Here is what you need to ask yourself how good has Rapp, Tutu, Van to a lessor degree been? Those were 2nd round picks I would rather trade away a 2nd round pick any day of the week for a proven star instead of hoping we land a gem in the round. Still everyone bitches about Creed Humphrey we could have had him and the staff evaluated him and didn't think enough of him instead they take Tutu.

The draft is a crap shoot vs data on a NFL player is not. The difference is the significant cost a star NFL player costs as we found out with Von, but if we go after Chubb negotiate a tentative deal upfront for less of a cost for a shorter term (3 years) and that way we control if we want to keep him or trade him so we don't just rent and lose him. What happens if Chubb blows up and kills it then we own his rights and our options expand massively versus what happened with Von. Clearly Von probably didn't want a deal upfront but Chubb is in less of a position we just need to be smart about making a deal upfront with him

Well, the Rams don't have a 2023 4'th round pick, so maybe Denver will take our 2024 3'rd ?

"The Rams are viewed as a team likely to have made a strong offer for Burns, La Canfora adds, with The Athletic’s Jourdan Rodrigue indicating the team should be expected to pursue edge players before the deadline (Twitter link). Los Angeles has acquired Ramsey, Von Miller and Dante Fowler at recent trade deadlines, using Day 1 and Day 2 picks to land these defenders. The Fowler and Miller moves helped those respective Rams editions to Super Bowls. The Rams do not have their 2023 first-round pick. That would seem to impact any Burns pursuit, though the team could likely land other potentially available edges without a first-rounder being necessary.

Miller choosing the Bills in free agency set back the Rams’ pass rush, however. Leonard Floyd entered the season as the defending champions’ top edge rusher; the $16MM-per-year sack artist is sackless through six games. Although Ramsey and off-ball linebacker Bobby Wagner have two sacks apiece, Aaron Donald (four) is the only Rams rusher to have registered more than one sack this season."

Personally, I'd rather trade Rapp, Tutu & Van Jeff than our 2023 2'nd. I'll take my chances that Snead will eventually hit on that pick, and for 2023 I want to see another IOL drafted with our top pick.
