Oh. Still getting love on this team, the RB, would be awesome. Nobody would be able to stay 2 deep. Opposing offenses would always be under pressure to keep up. And maybe our offense wouldn't go 3 and out 3 times in a row ever. Think how great that would make our D.I think he was suggesting that this trade could lead to the Chiefs (not Rams) trying to move-up for Love.
Yeah. I just get tired of this whole "overpaid", "got fleeced", "drafted way too early" stuff. There is so much going on in these negotiations and in the draft that we and the talking heads know nothing about. It's really easy to throw shade at a deal - practically any deal. Even with the EJ deal. I suspect there was something going on there that made the Rams just want him out. Do I have anything to back that? Nope. Just a hunch. So I get where people might come up with the overpaid stuff. They don't have any information to support it. It's just a hunch or a feeling. I just find it funny that some get so invested in the notion that they cast that to Les always getting abused in his dealings.Yes -- one of the main functions of Les's job is to acquire players. And he's acquired some excellent ones -- Stafford, Ramsey, McDuffie, Miller. And in each case, it was my opinion -- and that of many others -- that he overpaid for those players. I remember the day the Stafford trade went down and people were shocked at how much was given up for him. Does that mean I wouldn't make the trade all over again if I could go back in time? No, of course not. Does that mean that I must believe Les sucks at his job? Is it really a choice of "he's very good" or "he sucks" with no room in the middle?
Trade value wise - they are basically nothing. The combined trade value of those two picks is less than the cost to move down one spot from 13 to 14.We've made a roster of 5th and 6th round picks (Jordan Whittington, Limmer, McClendon, Davis Allen, PUKA!!!!!, Kyren Williams, Quentin Lake).
I wouldn't call them a throw away at all.
I hate overpaying for gas, but if I'm packed up and ready to go on a trip I'm not going to wait around for gas prices to go back down.So then - What exactly is the definition of overpaying? It seems to be some vague notion bandied about by those on the outside. Honestly. He could go in and dick around, sour relationships by playing low ball, lose out on important deals, and would that qualify as not getting fleeced?
I'm not arguing with you here. I agree with how you framed this. But what defines things like "overpay", "good deal", etc...? IMO, it's the bottom line. How is what he is doing affecting the success of this team? I just don't think anyone outside of the negotiation can say what is truly an overpay. All we can see is if the deal worked to benefit our team.
Especially if there is only one can available and someone else is standing there ready to buy.I hate overpaying for gas, but if I'm packed up and ready to go on a trip I'm not going to wait around for gas prices to go back down.
As a jersey numbers guy I've done extensive research on this.Well I guess Blake Corum's number will be changing this offseason.
Well #21 is Not an option ...As a jersey numbers guy I've done extensive research on this.
possibilities:
21 - Kendrick's current and Duff's rookie season # (probably won't go back to that.)
I'm carefully watching this epic event.
I like that analogy....good shit.I hate overpaying for gas, but if I'm packed up and ready to go on a trip I'm not going to wait around for gas prices to go back down.
Sorry man, that 2nd paragraph is the terrible explanation to me about Les's dealing. No one is saying Les is fuckin up but you are simply implying that upon folks that think we could have gotten more or given less. I'm one of them. Now why would I ultimately say that though? Well its because as fans we want the best for our team. Best players, best trades, best draft picks, best uniforms, best looking cheerleaders, etc. Les is most definitely generous but he obviously does it to close the deal. To me that seems pretty apparent based on his trade history. At my core, I'm definitely more of a haggler and maybe those same fans are too. That's why I think he could haggle a bit more but I'm also not blind to the fact that Les is a top notch team builder. I'm not saying, damn he always gets fleeced, we need a new GM lol. I do however wait for the day he completely gets over on a team for a player trade just cuz I would love to see our team benefit. For example, even though I hate these fucks, the Seahawks fleeced the Broncos bad. I want that one day just for Snead to add to his legend hahaha. Trades/transactions happen and there's always knee jerk reactions that will be posted. I only think people are ridiculous about Snead if they think he needs to be replaced. We are so fuckin blessed to have that man in our FO. Definitely agree that the trades truly cannot be graded until way later down the road. Most of what we do is here is guess and speculate big time.Yeah. I just get tired of this whole "overpaid", "got fleeced", "drafted way too early" stuff. To answer your question though, you don't have to think he sucks or that he is great. But I do think when someone is harping about Les' dealings, he is essentially saying Les fucked up as if they know anything about what each side were asking or offering. So then when it gets to people saying he regularly gets played in these negotiations, they pretty much are saying he sucks at it.
Being that we have zero clue as to what was being discussed in these dealings or who was offering what, all we can really look at are results. And the bottom line is if he is making our team better in the short and long term. To me that answer is yes - not "yes BUT".
