I see no value in resigning Fowler - he's JAG to me. Next to Donald, he should be dominating games and he's just not getting it done. I'd like to see how Ebukam and Obo look getting most of the snaps.

Wade needs to be gone, and this defense needs to be 4-3. Kiser looks like a prototypical MLB. Littleton would be deadly as a free-roaming OLB.

I'd move on from Havenstein - either via cut or trade. Evans is ready to play there.

Can't move on from Havenstein.. another brilliant cap hit and extension.

Yeah, I've been saying since week one there have been plenty of times where he's looked fine. They've just come so damn few and damn far between...

Isn't any way that i see they can get rid of gurley. Sorry but Gurley just looks slow to me - Still has some power but just no burst or wiggle.

Makes me sad because I love the dude.

I think McVay is sandbagging so he can get the SB win next season at the palace. "Blue font"

That 14 yard run last night says otherwise. But why doesn't he run like that all the time?

I’d certainly advocate bringing Jay Gruden in as OC, if not him then Bill Callahan after Washington purges their staff.
And I think returning to a 4-3 is a must to get Donald the help he needs. Too easy to double him
I believe they have the personnel they just need to scheme better
Exactly what I was thinking. You're a pretty smart fella DB

Certain types of run he looks okay on. But when he has to stop and change directions or take it outside at all he can't do anything.

Like when he catches a pass in the flat and has a defender coming down on him... most of the time he crumbles to teh ground or makes a meek attempt at a juke and falls over for 1 yard.

The Gurley I know can't be taken down that easily.

This 2019 Goff release though...
AltruisticCapitalBluefish-max-1mb.gif

Wtf happened?

Goff will clean things up over the off-season. When a QB gets hit a lot, some of the little things start to unravel.

Another suggestion: Bench Reeder and start Young. Did not see Reeder around the ball making tackles.
Reader was mostly on the bench & not on the field..... Might go back & take a close look @ Taylor Rapp who was playing in place of Reader.:(

It sure seems to me most of the Rams players are distracted & not focused. Poorly prepared Ram team has become the normal from the coaches & players. Nothing ticks me off more than to see little to no intensity on the field.

I need to point out that OLB'er Ebukam won my heart on Monday night. Ebukam played as hard as I have seen any Ram play all season in a losing cause.

I just discuss Defense:

Safety Eric Weddle's time as a starting safety has passed. Retirement is a good ideal. I would hope that our new 2020 DC will move JJ III into Weddle's deep safety post.

ER Dante Fowler has a bad disappearing problem & is not worth his asking price tag. The reserve ER's can fill this starting position.

Rookie safety Taylor Rapp does not bring any hit with his tackles nor does Rapp currently have any coverage skills. Without any hit skills Rapp would not be a successful starting SS. His tackles are made with the ball going forward. Unless Rapp gets dramatically better in coverage he is a liability in the back secondary. Not as good as billed.

Rams reserve DL unit needs refurbishing upgrade from Tanzel Smart & Morgan Fox. Rams need to invest a 2nd day draft selection in this unit to go with SJD, GG & Copeland.

Media has over hyped the skills level of Rams CB's NRC & Troy Hill. NRC's press & sports stats has NRC as one of the most successful Nickle's in the NFL...I am totally blind to this thought. Maybe its Weddle's poor communication skills???? I see NRC playing from a trail position 5 yds back. Another talented outside corner is needed to go with David Long. Better hope that Ramsey can be talked begged & bribed to sign a Ram contract!

The overreactions are tiring. We're not 1-10. Spend money and resources to shore up the OL. The rest should fall into place if we fix that problem.

I'm usually ft there with you but realistically now you need to steel from peter to pay Paul....so I ask With what money??? Ramsey you are basically forced to resign.....then what do you do with Littleton fowler Greg the leg?
The likes of JJ coming up and can't leave out Krupp. Then you need to replace people like Brockers Whitworth these are not cheap replacements and do we think noteboom is the answer if he is even ready. There is a lot to worry about here and let's not forget how fair is it to Donald that you try and surround goff if everything and the only dude worth his contract thus far is double and triple teamed almost every play wasting what could be an even better career because we can't get him help to play next to him. Even though most of us did not care for him and his on off switch boy did it help Donald when a player like Suh was next to him. It's going to take some real smarts and luck in late picks to help fix this properly in my opinion.

Re-sign Ramsey. With his fifth-year option on the books, we can re-sign him without actually decreasing our cap space in 2020, if we want. Attempt to re-sign Littleton. Re-sign Greg. Kickers aren't expensive. Let Fowler walk. We replace Whitworth with Noteboom, but we should sign a swing OT in case Noteboom isn't ready at the start of the year. Trust me, I've already thought about this.

Let the defense suffer and fix the OL. Hope that Obo, SJD and Gaines are ready for full time roles. Cut Weddle and Matthews.

Re-sign Littleton.

Starting D next year:

SJD/Gaines/Donald/Obo/Littleton/Kiser/Ebukam/Ramsey/Long/JJ/Rapp

Every draft pick goes toward depth on D, starting pass rush first.

Take the money saved by letting Fowler walk, cutting Weddle/Matthews and go HAM on the OL in FA.

BUT - the most likely outcome is that they re-sign Littleton, Fowler, GZ and do not cut Weddle or Matthews - and then draft OL. In this scenario our day one starting OL would probably be:

Noteboom/Corbett/Allen/Edwards/Havenstein with Evans and rookies for depth.

If the second scenario takes place I will not look forward to next season.
I don’t know if Noteboom will be ready.
He tore both ligaments.
Wil be interesting to see how this offseason is handled.

Lol me too bud however I'm ok with those moves but my fear is if we don't get Donald a side kick his career won't be wt it could of been...and from what I've seen this year no way I let goff go into next year with noteboom if ready protecting his blind side. Goff may end up dead that's a step back even an aging whitworth is better rt now .....we need a guard possibly a center and a left tackle that could be very pricey.

All we heard last night and what we keep hearing is what wussies the Rams are to finesse physical teams man handle us .....they kept calling us melrose place Last night vs the wire...those two commentators are bafoons but they weren't wrong

Noteboom looked good at LT in 2018. Donald will be fine. They're going to double him no matter what.

There are a few cheap (possible) options.
Free Agents are like a lot of limited commodities.
There are three desired qualities....excellent, affordable and young.
A team is lucky to get two of those three....often it is one of the three.
Signing an old LT like Penn or Dozier (more a G than T to me) for $1-2M a year offers some depth of a spot starter and is affordable.
Landing a desired T or G....hard to see with the expense.
Signing a couple of low cost vet options, drafting a couple of guys and letting the guys under contract fight it out is likely what will happen. I am afraid the Rams FO will not sign cheap FA OL even. Opting instead for the draft and development of guys they already have.

Double and even triple but and yea they will anyway but they will do it religiously if he doesn't have some help. Again look at the numbers with an underwhelming Suh . Funny goff does have to have everything perfect but Donald is expected to be a one man defense lol. Out of all the big contracts he is really the only one living up to it.

Goff doesn't need to have everything be perfect, but he's a young pocket passer, so yes, he needs good protection. Aaron Donald is the best player in the NFL. Goff isn't. Even with Suh, Donald was constantly doubled. Suh wasn't why Donald put up numbers last year. Donald doesn't need to be a one-man defense. He will have plenty of help. Let's stop being melodramatic. But we won't have a big-named pass rusher besides him. Resource allocation is too important. Maybe Obo steps up. He has potential.

I hope we never experiment with Noteboom at guard again, I expect him to get the Whitworth treatment and stay at where he was drafted to be at LT once he begins recovery; even then, I hope we find another LT to at least compete with him for that starting spot long term. I get that versatility is nice but you best put linemen where they excel at.
