I missed that play, was Purdy in the pocket? Because there is no foul for horsecollar if the QB is in the pocket. At least when it happened to Stafford they said there is no horsecollar if QB is in the pocket.
He was running towards the boundary but the back of his jersey was tugged and let go.

He wasn’t brought down by the collar

He was going out of bounds basically so well out of the pocket. He didn't drag him down from behind but pulled on his jersey enough to make Purdy's knees buckle slightly. Apparently the way the rule is worded this is enough to warrant a horse collar penalty. Another penalty that has to be interpreted by the refs in the heat of the moment. Was borderline.

ARTICLE 16. HORSE-COLLAR TACKLE

No player shall grab the inside collar of the back or the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, or grab the jersey at the name plate or above, and pull the runner toward the ground. This does not apply to a runner who is in the tackle box or to a quarterback who is in the pocket.

Note: It is not necessary for a player to pull the runner completely to the ground in order for the act to be illegal. If his knees are buckled by the action, it is a foul, even if the runner is not pulled completely to the ground.

Penalty: For a Horse-Collar Tackle: Loss of 15 yards and an automatic first down.

That was a bad call, it was not a horse collar, but the officials can never get that right. The worst ever was a couple of years ago with Kupp in Denver, where not only was it a horse collar, but Kupp injured his knee because of it and no flag.

so by the letter of the rule listed above, I say it was the right call.

I had always thought the grab had to be inside the shoulder pads

I agree. And this is another one of those penalties that has evolved poorly over the years and invites more subjectivity on the refs, which always sucks for the fans.

I laughed my fucking ass off at AD trolling the 69ers on Instagram. It was even funnier laughing my ass off at and destroying the 69er fan who said, "The Rams only won their Super Bowl because the Saints were robbed."

I guess that Saints-were-robbed BS will never go away. So much loud and dumb out there.

Wasn't it a similar kind of tackle against the Raiders that wrecked Gurley also?

40whiner fan news interview: "We were sitting there and some Kansas City Chief fans were there and at the end of the game they were hugging and we were just sitting there in shock. All of the 49er fans were just walking out with their heads down."

Whiner fans disappointed with heads down as they should always be. Faithless losers!!!
I'm drinking their tears once again! :bigcry::beer2::laugh4:

High Numbers.

Unfortunately, I believe they have almost $40M of carryover from 2023. That should help them.

I think 2025 is when things get tough for them cap wise.
I’ve read some Niners fans comments. Many think that it’s time to move on from Deebo. They don’t mention salary cap implications and I don’t care enough to look them up. But some of them think he’s in rapid decline.

I thought Aiyuk is a free agent.

Trent Williams hints at retirement almost every year lately

Believe Aiyuk is on the 5th option; and saw Williams in a post Super Bowl interview say he planned to play in 2024.

Aiyuk could be a problem for them. May not want to play on the option year, and try to force an extension or trade. Think an extension makes sense for both sides.

Here it is 3 days later. After seeing a lot of cars driving around with 49er flags all post season I haven't seen a single one since the game. Like I said all year, as long as their season ends with a loss at some point I'm good with it. They still can't say they accomplished what we accomplished.

Based on social media posts, Aiyuk is going to be a problem for them. May demand a trade or a new contract, which they can't afford to do. Aiyuk would be good on the Rams IMO, but, he'd have to have a separate lockroom area until the stink of the whiners wears off.

Williams looks old out there, which is fitting because, well, he is. I'd play too for 31.5m. Glad he's slowing down and costing them a fortune!

Well, the good news for the 49ers is that the '24 Dead Cap Hit for Trey Lance is only $5.5 mill. :)
