LAX has four runways. Two on the North side of the terminal complex, and two on the South side of the terminal complex. When landing on the north side we primarily land on that northern most runway (where every one on these pictures were taken). The runway on the north complex that is closer to the terminal is used for takeoffs. Rarely, but it does happen, an airplane may land on the runway primarily used for takeoffs and that would take it more over the stadium. I can't really say what it would look like because it hasn't happened to me since the project came together. If there is advertising on the roof it will be crazy easy to see.

We fly over that area about 900 above the ground. We fly over many things at other airports that are far closer to that. The major concern the FAA had was reflection of radar and that was easily remedied. (I personally believe it wasn't a real issue. Just politics.)

Runways for the South complex are 25 left and 25 right. The runways for the North complex is 24 left and 24 right. On the north complex 24 right is the primary runway for landing. For the South complex its 25 left. For traffic movement this all makes sense for the flow depending on what terminal an airline uses.

Our terminal is on the north side so we primarily land on the north side. (Thank god) But we do sometimes flow into the south side.

This is wordy but I hope it helps answers your questions.

Also, no butt kissing, but I ONLY fly Southwest. Started with the whole industry saying "we're gonna charge for baggage" and the still arcane way flights are booked.

I'm flying to Vancouver for a wedding and I couldn't believe that after picking the fare, there was a surcharge to picking a seat. Like, seriously, wtf would happen if I didn't pick a seat? With 1 stop going and two coming back, that's 5 total flights and between the wife and I, over $100 in surcharges. To. Sit. INSIDE. The. Plane.

Yep, only Southwest for me.

Until I get to take that bucket list trip to Japan.

Pretty sure I won't be on SWA for that one (hoping I can swing business class on Singapore Air... seen some vlogs and that trip just looks...fantastic)

Although we strive for perfection there are just too many mother nature, mechanical, agencies, logistic, etc issues that can messed it up. I do know we all try real hard for our customers.

I too would try for that business class seat on Singapore Airlines. They say Singapore has the best service of most all, if not all, of the airlines in the world. I too am an airline customer and will pay for better service if its within a reasonable amount of buckaroos.

The old Hong Kong airport was quite the ride for sure. A few videos on you tube accurately shows the challenges.

Love the chronological pics over the months. The stadium has come a long way. Almost looks like they coulda been ready for the 2019 season. I suppose there's a lot more that goes into it though.

Well, you all earned it.

And even though I was just 17, I still remember that landing at the old Kai Tak. As a kid I had to fly cross country every summer for a custody deal and I’d flown a LOT for a kid. By 17, I figured I was seasoned as one can be, but still wasn’t prepared for that landing. Had to do it twice, once on flight from Seattle and once on flight from Beijing.

Harrowing is a good way to describe it. And that was just as a passenger.

The finishing will take a long time. Just the electrical/data runs will be crazy. And it won’t be super quick to install all those ETFE panels.

Better they get it right than to have the opening be like Levi’s was.

Although not much change from the last one. Sometimes its months between opportunities so I get them when I can.

I also flew over the Stadium last night but the night shots just don't come out well. I wish they did. It is an amazing sight.

I believe so. In the above picture the canopy tapers to the left. Although this picture does not show it you can see the outline they graded out for the canopy. The tapered end is what I to believe is where a 6000 seat amphitheater will exist.

I will upload a picture that may show the outline.

Same. Not only because of the airline prices, where SW is great, but because of the quality of the service too. I flew nearly every weekend from San Dog to Vegas and back for 3 years when I wasn't on deployments, and almost all were SW. Plus the terminal there in San Dog for SW is rockin man. They have a great bar in there, it's like an end of the week party to fly out lmao. Wife would pick me up I'd still be drunk on most nights I'd arrive, and we'd hit the strip before headin home good times.

Re: the stadium... Really excited to see it get finished. And someone's gonna pay up the yinyang for the advertising rights if they include branding on top of the stadium, due to the approach and how many eyes will see it flying in.

That said, I hope they put a Rams' emblem on top of the stadium (and also that it ends up being the RAM TOUGH stadium), since it is that shape and all. Why? Because F Dean Spanos and his Chargers is why.

Question, what kind of camera are you using ? Smartphone or digital camera.
I am a big aviation buff. Mostly military, but know something about the commercial stuff.
I went to Aviation Nation at Nellis (Las Vegas) last Nov and it was awesome. And FREE, put on by them and the government. Must cost millions, I have a idea what flight hours cost in those things. They did a mock battle right in front of us with huge video screen, music and narrated. F.16s "attacked" the base, F-15 take off right in front of us in full afterburner, they do low level dog fighting right on the deck, very low. A-10s show up, escorted by the new F-35s. They had pyrotechnics, fake flames from the "bombs" and all that. Then a F-22 Raptor took off and flew straight up and did a show. The Thunderbird's did their thing. Its all "right in front of you" with big mountains as the backdrop, very cool.
There were WWII era planes, B-24, F4U, P-51, many others. Had a huge C-5 Galaxy, C-130, even a U2 spy plne showed up. Freaking awesome, and free. They bus you in from the NASSCAR track in orderly fashion. Very safe, metal detectors and Airmen with M-16s keeping you safe. It was after the mass shooting there. Lots of booths with food and T shirts ect. Veterans got special seating. Great time and show. Even had a military rock band doing their thing in uniforms.
I think it sucks that so many aviation companies are just sucked up into giant companies now. One of my favorite was McDonnel Douglas, now part of Boeing . They made EVERYTHING and did it well. fighters,helicopters, bombers and large passenger planes.
I hear their old MD-80 are still sought after in the used market by airlines, very robust planes. Used to have a huge plant in the Long Beach area. I am sure some of you know people who used to work there. So Cal had a ton a aviation plants.
Anyway, thanks for the photos. I never get to fly much, but I love it, wife hates it.

One of the best planes was McDonnell Douglas' DC 10. Silky smooth wide body with a great safety record and they had one bad crash and that seemed like the end for it.

Honestly, I miss the wide-body jets. Always having a 3-3 seating config with chairs made for Japanese salarymen (typically around 5'8" and 140 lbs) is getting old.

I'm rapidly wishing that for trips, I could just do the Madden.

Get a Newmar King Aire and just...cruise...

But...since you can't drive to Asia... still eyeing that Singapore Air Business class...mmmmm

SWA has the 700, 800 and Max8. I have flown the Max a few times!

Still getting use to it but it has some really good differences.

I take the pics with an iPad. Seems to do a better job than my iPhone.

The former MD-95, now called the B-717, is the airplane being sought after. It is a smaller, retooled version of the MD-80. The MD-80's are becoming way out of date. Too old for real worth.

The military can put on one hell of a show.
