I have a few questions SWAdude. When your aircraft is directly over the stadium, what is its elevation? Which # runway approach brings your aircraft most closely over the stadium? 2 south?

I'm asking because I remember there was controversy about the stadium hight interfering with approaching aircraft, and if I remember correctly, the roof will have some kind of advertising. Just curious how well that could be read by the folks looking out the windows.

Love the visual chronology of the construction. Thx.

@SWAdude you're the man. What a way to join the ROD members here. For you we will forego the initiation ceremony. Seriously that was awesome. Can't wait to see what you have next.

LAX has four runways. Two on the North side of the terminal complex, and two on the South side of the terminal complex. When landing on the north side we primarily land on that northern most runway (where every one on these pictures were taken). The runway on the north complex that is closer to the terminal is used for takeoffs. Rarely, but it does happen, an airplane may land on the runway primarily used for takeoffs and that would take it more over the stadium. I can't really say what it would look like because it hasn't happened to me since the project came together. If there is advertising on the roof it will be crazy easy to see.

We fly over that area about 900 above the ground. We fly over many things at other airports that are far closer to that. The major concern the FAA had was reflection of radar and that was easily remedied. (I personally believe it wasn't a real issue. Just politics.)

Runways for the South complex are 25 left and 25 right. The runways for the North complex is 24 left and 24 right. On the north complex 24 right is the primary runway for landing. For the South complex its 25 left. For traffic movement this all makes sense for the flow depending on what terminal an airline uses.

Our terminal is on the north side so we primarily land on the north side. (Thank god) But we do sometimes flow into the south side.

This is wordy but I hope it helps answers your questions.

Thx dude. I'm very familiar with LAX. My bro-in-law just retired from the FAA and worked the control tower over 20 years. I've had occasion to be up there several times. I'm sure you and he have spoken together on your approach.

Just one more question. I know it only happens rarely, but have you ever landed at LAX from the west?

We really appreciate the insight.

There is no doubt we chatted many times over the years. Please give him my very best and wish him a long, healthy and happy retirement. Your brother did a tremendous job helping it keep safe for all of us.

I kid you not, I have probably five thousand cycles in and out of LAX. Not even remotely close to anywhere else. It personally is my favorite airport and plan on the one being my retirement flight on arrival. There is not a better controlled airport I have flown into. They keep things moving better than any considering all the challenges. He may remember me being old school. When I contacted tower I would say "Southwest (insert flight number) Harbor freeway inbound for 24 right (or 25 left)" I haven't heard anyone say that in many years. Its a local thing.

What is fun about this particular project, it will take so many looks before we call it home.

I flew over Levi Stadium often when it was being built. It had no excitement.

Sad really. For a Whiner fan that is. :)

Hysterical.:rolllaugh:

I am a Rams fan. Give me what you got for initiation. I haven't missed a minute of a Rams game since 1998. Literally. Thanks to Sunday ticket and living out of town.

I am harden and ready. :)

Happy you enjoyed. It comes much more appreciated sharing a three year sequence than one at a time during three years. And understandably.

It is all the same though. Fun to share.

I look forward to our future together.

GO RAMS!!!
