I don't. That's the point I'm making. None of us know. We're not privy with that. However, it's easy to figure out that the Rams leaking info to Schefter is to benefit their own cause.

You're making a point about not making assumptions, by assuming the Rams aren't coming to the table correctly. You are also assuming the Rams leaked info to turn fans against Aaron Donald. You arent privy to that information either. In fact, most of your posts lean towards the player and how the player is within his fair right to be doing this. I'm just curious at what point you think that maybe the player is the unreasonable part of this baffling stand off? Or are you just convinced the team has to bow to all the players demands?

Blaming the Rams is every bit as valid as blaming Donald.

Correct... Because both of those options are completely invalid responses due to the severe lack of facts.

Having an opinion is one thing. Trying to justify assigning blame at this point is nonsensical.

Very true. The term "blame" is not at play givin what we know, or don't know. But I will admit to being swayed somewhat by the reports that the Rams have had very fair offers on the table that have been rejected. I would use "unreasonable" if the player was rejecting fair offers, and "unwilling" if the team was in fact not offering fair market value.

What's the Rams combined record with AD on the team? Not to say that AD has any blame there but he certainly hasn't made much of an impact to making the Rams a winner despite his often obvious dominant play in the middle. Maybe DTs are overpaid in the grand scheme of things?

Haynesworth didnt make Washington a winner.
Suh didnt make Detroit a winner
Richardson didnt make the Jets a winner.
NGata didnt make the Lions a winner
Corey Luiget hasnt made the Chargers a winner

Overpaid? Yessir, thier impact is greatly distorted. I dont believe Aaron Donalds impact is distorted as far as our team goes. But the above list didnt seem to impact thier teams greatly enough to turn them into winners.

Richardson will be hard to judge on the left coast, since the Seahawks were winning before his aquisition.

At what point in the year does a contract count against this years cap vs next years? Anyone know?

If I understand you correct if he doesn't report to the team by week 12 this year for his contract doesn't count and the last 2 years get pushed back.

No - what I'm wondering about is his cap hit under a new contract. He wants to frontload, and the Rams can't afford that this year but may be able to afford it next year - cap wise. Is there a time during the 2017 season where his first year cap hit under a new contract is a 2018 hit?

I wonder if any owner has ever had a mule deliver a briefcase full of cash to an undisclosed location.

I know if I was an owner, I'd try it. Less complicated than figuring out how to circumvent the cap legally.

I'm not assuming the Rams aren't coming to the table correctly. However, the fact that there is no agreement makes clear that the Rams aren't coming to the table in a manner sufficient for Donald. But that doesn't much matter. A deal has to work for both sides.

As for assuming the Rams leaked info to turn fans against Donald, it's pretty clear to me. Donald's agent certainly isn't leaking that the Rams are making good offers. And the Rams aren't leaking that information for no good reason. They're doing it for PR. Unlike most of the assumptions we have to make, this one really only has one plausible answer.

But if you disagree, I'd be interested in hearing what you believe is another plausible reason why the Rams would leak information on the negotiations to Schefter.

Give him a signing bonus ($5 million to $10 million). It prorates for 5 years. Then schedule a big roster bonus for next year right at the start of the league (March). That would be a way of making it work.

How do we know they did? It might be a case of loose lips. A lot of that going around these days in high places.

I do disagree, but there's no way either of us could know one way or the other. I think it's more likely that just enough infornation has gotten through to Shefter thru a close connection of his that he can make his claims. But that doesn't mean it came from the Rams. It could have come from someone else that Snead or Demoff spoke to in confidence. It could have come from any source via the player, agent, team, other team, other agent. However, The way you put it, it's as if the Rams planted the information for some type of gain. To assume THAT, is to say the Rams are sneaky and calculating and manipulating...and that is way over the top in my opinion. The days and practices of Charlie Armey and Samir Sugielman are way behind us. Snead and Demoff have been nothing but proffesionals and there have been no reports to the contrary, not withstanding the few jolts Demoff took from the local media as we left St Louis.

And that leads to what I have been seeing. There are too many that place the impasse at the Rams door steps when it could possibly be the player that is unreasonable in his expectations.

I could be wrong but based on recent years and recent transactions as evidence, I don't think the Rams are balking at reasonable terms. THE RAMS flew to Atlanta to meet with the players representation. The RAMS have brought the manilla folder across country to work out a solution. I don't see the PLAYER or his agent in LA attempting to resolve anything at all. It's as if they have dug their foxhole.

Yet some still see this as a player being shafted somehow by the team?

I just want to get this thread to 60 at least. It looks like a deal will not get done until after first game of the season ?
