I don’t dispute the fact one call can change an outcome. Or a collection of calls.

It’s the financial transaction, accepting payment for rigging games at the referee level... that’s what I don’t think Refs can get away with. Eventually someone talks.

I mean, if you do it once... don’t you have to do it again? That will spiral into an uncontrolled spin.

Maybe it’s ordered by the NFL, via the Networks

No it doesn’t. SE designation makes it legal to fix games
No, it doesnt.
And that isnt even what the theory proposes.
MLB, NBA, NFL, whatever their anti trust designation, cant be sued based on the outcome of an event. A ticket is merely a license to view it.
That's a fact. And whether deemed a sporting event or whatever that ludicrous theory suggests, it doesnt make a difference.

The ticket is just a license to view, as you say. There's no legal requirement that the NFL follow it's own rules or have fairly officiated games. Assuming you hire the "right" kind of people, you could keep it quiet for a long time. And the number of referees is small. You only need 1-2 people on each crew of you wanted to do it.

You keep paying people after they retire to keep them quiet. There's a lot of ways to apply pressure and make lives hard if you really want to and you're a multi billion dollar company. Maybe somebody would talk eventually, but again if you hire the morally reprehensible types of people who would love that type of control, then you won't have to worry about it.

I don't necessarily think that they're fixing all the games all the time or anything. I just definitely don't believe that they are honest enough to play it straight 100% of the time.

Who is "The NFL"?
All 32 owners unanimously agree on an outcome?

Some owners are more influential than others but yes. Anything for money. If networks want to push a story, or want to push a popular team towards the playoffs then owners to along with it.

They do not have to guarantee a fair contest. They can't be sued for fixing games. So it opens the door for them to fix them if they choose

Well, they "decided" that the 49ers should produce an epic fail in the SB, does that count?

they don't do it all the time, or every playoff. Sometimes a favorite of story does not present itself, so they let them play. The networks want viewers. If ratings are down they'll figure ways to bring them up.

basically yes. And the Networks pay a handsome price to those owners. To telecast the games. You think they won't have a say in it?

It doesn’t say that. It doesn’t say anything like that. There is no difference between NFL, MLB & NBA.
Who would sue?
The networks? The Fans? The Players?
And more importantly, on what grounds would they sue?
that’s always the best weapon conspiracy theorists use, ambiguity. Because there is no definitive accusation.

Any time huge amounts of money are at stake there will always be a criminal element trying to fix outcomes to their advantage.

You can't go to a Vegas sports book and bet on Pro Wrestling.

When Vegas cuts off NFL betting like they do with wrestling... I'll get concerned.
Actually, you can bet on WWE nowadays. At least for the big events. Not sure if Vegas per se has it, but any legal sportsbook does

Only in offshore books from what I looked at. And they usually have limits on the amount you can bet.

Vegas doesn't take em.

The ones who were true victims would be the guys on the bubble. Still trying to get their shot at the bigs. Imagine coming in the 7th inning facing a team of talented hitters that knows what is coming. The pitcher gets shellacked, comes out of the game. Then sent back to the minors. Who knows if he'll get called up again?

Yep. Which is why the more I've thought about it the more I hope the Bolsingers of the world sue the everloving shit out of that organization. How many millions of dollars from how many guys did they take away?

Baseball players involved got no punnishment AT ALL.

They will when the season starts. Players that feel they were cheated when they were at bat will find ways to get their revenge. The commish should have realized this would be coming when he failed to punish players. He made Astros and Sox players fair game.

Astros and Red Sox players may have escaped punishment from the league office, but they will certainly get it from oposing teams and fans. They WILL be punnished

Astros are opening their season at Anahiem Angel Stadium. My nephew and I already have tix for game 2. Our seats are 4 rows behind visitor dugout. We are going to let 'em have it and I got a feeling there will be plenty of Dodger fans there screaming "CHEATERS!" along with us.

i garaurntee hard slides with spikes up, tripping, balls thrown at heads, and bench clearing brawls. Its going to be a burtal season for the Astros and R Sox, and they deserve it.

And they deserve every bit shit they're gonna get all season long. Nobody to blame but themselves.

The players keep the stats, the awards, the titles and not 1 minute of suspension time. There is literally no punishment to the players in MLB. And MLB keeps trying to brush it under the carpet. They havent touched the tip of the iceburg yet, and the rest of MLB knows it. And they're pissed.

"I don't agree with the punishments, the players not getting anything," Trout said. "It was a player-driven thing. It sucks, too, because guys' careers have been affected, a lot of people lost jobs. It was tough. Me going up to the plate knowing what was coming -- it would be pretty fun up there."
- Mike Trout

Well, they will get to keep a career's worth of derision along with a season's worth of bruised ribs as a result.

If that's the best the rest of us can do, so be it.

So you are saying they just fix games because nobody would sue them. They do it because they are free to do whatever they want. So your endorsing that they fix games because they answer to nobody

Classic strawman response there.
The NFL doesn't fix games, the earth isn't flat and unfortunately there isn't a Santa Claus.
The fallacy that the "sports entertainment" lingo would protect "the NFL" and thus "allow" them to cheat is as preposterous as the easter bunny.

You are wasting your effort trying to convince me that what is right in front of my eyes each season, is not happening.
