Im excited to see Stafford and I still like Goff.
A few of you here remind me of the Twilight movies ad campaign. My daughter was a pre-teen then and had read the books when "Team Jacob" and "Team Whatshisface" was everywhere, all the time.
Plenty of adults (who probably would've had no interest in a teenybopper vampire series written for 12 year old girls) were feeling compelled to see the movie simply so they could be involved in picking a team.
I remember thinking it was clever and maybe a little nefarious to use people's pack animal instincts to trigger an "Us Vs Them" emotional response to generate hype for a movie... but then again, it's the same formula behind what makes team sports so enjoyable.... but also what makes identity politics so awful.
Hashtag tribalism is at least as lame as those glittery vampire movies. That's what the Endless Warner Bulger debates descended into, what Team LA Vs. Team St. Louis was and where Goff or Stafford is as well, just hashtag tribes. We're all Rams fans. That should be the only tribe we need.
I think tribalism is a lot like sugar or fat. For 99.999% of human existence, indulging in it was advantageous to survival. Now it isn't and indulgence has serious consequences.
Like the crispy edge of fat around a perfect ribeye or the tears of a Seahawks fan, it's just so fucking delicious sometimes..

Good video. It addresses what I have always thought Goff's biggest issue was, and that's his inability to read defenses and coverages quickly enough. I love me some JG and wish him well. CMON Stafford!!!

What I see is a lot of putting the blame solely on Goff for our O going downhill the last couple years, when there were other factors. (Maybe not so much here on rod, but in social media forums generally.)
Having the video was a good reason for a new thread. I wasn't sure before I saw there was a video.
I mentioned more than once that the Miami game seemed to a big turning point in the McVay/Goff relationship. IRC McVay mentioned that they had practiced against the different looks. IIRC Goff said he has to study harder or something like that.
The question with Goff was can he keep getting better. Last year he just kept making more and more mistakes. He was very good with good protection. The question was can he get better and be consistent and become 5-10 QB in the league. Based on last year he wasn't going to. In fact, he regressed and made a lot of unforced errors. His ability to read defenses has been questioned. I think he needs to work on that a lot more.
Goff is still young and has time to improve. The Rams are ready to keep contending now. Moving on to Stafford was the right move. Let's see what Stafford does with this offense. Getting Jackson is a big help.

Brady overcame imperfect Oline. Mahomes did too for most of the season. I’m not talking about a Super Bowl, just regular season games. Lots of QBs have imperfect Oline, most in fact.
And it is not Goff hate. Most of these discussions arise from fans disputing the need for a better QB. Said Goff had no worts. It’s full denial if they choose to ignore the problems he had. I don’t hate the kid. I’m happy the Rams found an upgrade and also don’t think his problems will be overcome to the point that Rams fans will rue the trade for years to come. But we keep seeing fans try to make it seem like there wasn’t a need for the trade.

I think it’s because most of it was Goff. Once Gurley was gone and once teams started defending the scheme Goffdud not rise to the top. He fell back. According to many he held the offense back from being able to make adjustments for the team to counter with.
Really? That statement is as inaccurate as "fans just call criticizm hate". Who here....or anywhere.....has said Goff had no worts? The problem with the Goff discussion is there are very few fans "in the middle".....acknowledging his worts and believed he could overcome them BUT are happy with the acquisition of Stafford....and the rest are one end or the other......either "they shouldn't have traded him, he got us to the Superbowl" on one side and "they'll never win a Superbowl with him" on the other.
I haven't seen anybody stating he had no worts.

You and others with this argument are missing the point. When Goff was on a rookie contract we were able to put more help around him. Gurley scored 40TDs in two years, we had more players on defense, etc. Once Goff starts making $35M per year, he needs to be able to carry the team. Your highest paid players have to be the driving force to victory, they cant be liabilities. Making $35M at QB and leading the NFL in turnovers all while being ranked #31 in average depth of attempt just won't get it done.
Sure is a lot of hyperbole being thrown around here. I haven't seen really anyone saying things like Jared sucked or that he had no "worts". I read this back and forth and just shake my head. Can we not see a reason the Rams moved on without it turning into meaning Jared sucks? Can we not lament the moving on without it meaning the person thinks Jared is without faults? It's kinda mind boggling really.

When I play Madden I have to turn the interception sliders down pretty low otherwise I'd throw like three or four a game. And that's what the defense that's moving mechanically without many variations
While I find this to be true, read Leonard Floyd's comments about after Stafford through the interception. He talked about how Stafford toned it up a notch and really made the defense pay for the rest of practice.
So while some of us would have incorrectly roasted golf for one bad mistake, the rest of us would probably notice how Stafford responded and that's the big part to me
Yeah I really liked the video for some of the depth that it went into in terms of things golf struggles at that Stafford does. But on the other hand, didn't we already know this when the trade went down? Still a great video though
They touch on it a little bit in the video actually. They show a situation where goff makes a mistake but then the commentator goes on to add that the route concept was really poor for that defensive situation anyway. However they do go on to show a lot of examples where the right play was there to be made in goff just missed it

Realistically, we're still in a very dead period of the football season. So any video that involves Stafford will be posted. I'd imagine that once we get to see him in action then there'll be nothing to talk about. Until the end of the season when everybody inevitably compares goff's year to Stafford's year because, again, will be in a dead period Lol
