That hit on Cooks

It actually wasn't H2H, but I'm not sure how Cooks was no longer a defenseless WR. He was turning up the field and had just started to protect himself when he was hit with a shoulder and forearm shiver right to the head. It was also quite clear that the DB was targeting his head.


I guarantee you if Russell Wilson got hit like that while scrambling, we would have been flagged.

How is that not helmet to helmet?

Yeah that and the way the defender slammed Kupp to the ground I thought ouch then he gets back up and trots off. Those type of extra swings to put the player down hard should be called if they're gonna protect against concussions. Don't want the game turned to flag but the Seattle defender could've still tackled him without the extra emphasis to slam him like that.

With the hit on cooks, the td that should have been reversed, the absolute lack of holding calls on Seattle, the clear first down we got that was reversed in the final minutes of the game...this was the worst officiating I've ever seen. The fact it was so blatant makes this win very unsatisfying.

There was a long run by the seacocks late in the game, and at the end an OL comes in and blows up our guy, in the back....nothing....I mean just 3 blind mice out there. It was as bad a game for the officials as I've seen in some time.

Agreed, it's hard to tell from this angle, but the main thrust of the force was from the DB's shoulder to Cooks' helmet. Regardless, the DB was clearly targeting the helmet, and I hope he gets a huge fine.

That was an intentional, dirty play that could threaten Cooks' career. One more big concussion to Cooks and he could have a recurring problem.

Edit: just reading up about Cooks' concussion, and (unfortunately) it looks like he lost consciousness briefly, which is a sign that his concussion was more severe than the one sustained by Kupp.

The Shecocks were amped up today. This was a playoff game for them. They knew if they fell behind the Rams by 3 games it was going to be a long hard crawl to get back into the hunt. I think they decided they would not go down without a fight and leave everything on the field!

Ummmm....That’s about the most clear helmet helmet that you could possibly have

I try to look at these 'no call' hits on Rams players from the lens of how I would feel about it if the situation was reversed. Like if, for instance, Johnson III leveled that hit on a Seahawks receiver. I'm fairly certain I would blame the receiver for going fetal while Johnson was trying to lead with his shoulder.

I keep watching that video, looking at the stills that @SWAdude posted, and wondering how you came to the conclusion that it wasn't helmet to helmet. I respect the hell out of you, but I've no clue how you would look at that and reasonably determine that the helmets didn't collide prior to or at the same time as the shoulder pads got each other.

@-X- if it was our guy doing the hitting, I'd be thrilled that they didn't call it because it's clear. If they had called it, I'd be pissed at the NFL, not the ref.
