You say you don't like the depth of the CBs. But it is required in the Fangio scheme for good or for bad. The depth can vary and Rams did play deeper than most but it's not like it was a huge difference.
I have never seen Fangio's scheme give up only 2.3 seconds on a release. I believe that was an all time fastest ever.
As I said it was .5 seconds faster than the next fastest last year (at least for the first 7 or so games where that number was posted).
So Morris must have been using a version of the Fangio scheme where the QB is able to release the ball within 2.3 seconds.
I didn't like that version in 2022.
This year's version is much better with more inexperienced players no less. I don't know what the average time per throw is this year but I believe it is closer to the league average of 2.8 to 3.0 seconds.
You can say all you want that this year's defense is marginally worst than last years but I believe we allowed teams to consistently move down the field on more long time consuming drives last year as compared to this year.
I will have to take the average number of plays and time per drive in the first 3 quarters compared to the first 3 quarters this year to verify if that was the case. Last year, a lot of games were over by the 4th quarter and would mess up the results if I included last year's 4th quarters.
Oh I want to reiterate that I never wanted Morris fired in 2021. We won a damn superbowl for gawd sake. I will admit I did overreact in 2022 because the Tampa Arizona and New Orleans games really ticked me off.
We had no business losing to a 2 win Arizona team and New Orleans wasn't much better offensively. And Tampa - we allowed them back in the game in the 4th quarter after dominating on defense the first 3 quarters. That team with experienced players should not have allowed that to happen.
I will say after having seen it happen 3 times this year, I have just gotten used to the fact that Morris defense this year is going to let some teams back in the game after having a big lead. Not sure why it happened so much this year but I am going to put it down to inexperience on the defensive side. Although it still makes my heart race during those games (I exaggerated the heart attacks - sue me).
