It's not complicated we literally cannot sign him atm until we free up some much needed capspace.

Cooks will be gone after this year, that will clear up some. If we get rid of Havenstein after next year I think the cap hit is only $1M too. Hope he turns his play around, but if not maybe we replace him with a cheaper option.

I'd bet he gets moved during the 2020 season if it's before we take a huge cap hit but in 2020 it drops like $8 million so we'd take only a $13.8 million hit.

It isn't a slight on Talib that we traded him to the Dolphins. He's likely never going to play a down with them, and is free to sign with whoever he wants, including us again however unlikely that is. We just traded to free up some cap space.

I would agree. Unless the Phins make the playoffs;).

Yes extend Ramsey in #1 priority $$$ is sure to come in handy with the Jags exercised a $13.7 million 5th-year option for 2020 on Ramsey. It would be very smart to get Cory Littleton extended this season & not wait till he is a UFA in March.

Simple. Troy f'n Hill made this possible. You know, the Troy Hill that QB's are only completing 43% of their passes against.

Hill was a critical resign for the Snead.

It’s possible that they were making room for another player this year, but they couldn’t reach an agreement.

That would explain the initial report that the Rams are not done yet, and then the later report that they were done. Like maybe they felt they could get Slay or an Olineman.

Is it because we wanted cap space this year (to do a Ramsey deal that would bonus him this year) or we wanted to roll that space over to next year?

Or they were trying to dump Brockers on somebody to free up even more space, that's just as likely if not more likely IMO.

Main issue is to dump salaries to create mega salary for Ramsey. Enough said.

There is no rush on Ramsey, he's hitting his 5'th year option anyway in 2020, so he's going to be paid. When the Rams do extend him, his new contract is likely to begin in 2021, and like both Goff & Gurley, he'll be able to cash in a very large signing bonus a year early, probably sometime mid-season 2020. I'm hoping this recent windfall in CAP savings goes toward extending Littleton & Zuerlein. jmo.

I don't think it's wise to trade Brockers right now. The guy is finally healthy and wreaking havoc.

That's a move you make after your seasons over. Donald, Joseph-Dat, and Brockers are a pretty mean front!

I agree but they were clearly shedding payroll and he uses it. He's a free agent after the season though.

I may not be as impressed by Brockers, but unlike Talib who brought us no dead money CAP hit, the Rams would have a dead money hit of nearly $3.mil on Brockers, so any real savings would have been negligible compared to the relative stability he offers the DLine at this time. jmo.
