I'm not a cap expert - but could the contract not be structured to where the real cap hits are in future seasons? Not everything contract needs to have a huge signing bonus that is immediately payable. You can guarantee the money in a lot of different ways. Heck - they could extend his current contract - right?
correct, but we already did that with Goff and a couple of other players. Can't do that with them all. Mostly likely we'll do that with Ramsey neeeeeeeeeext year. Whether they are free up space for next year or a player now, I assume we'll find out shortly.
NFL teams seeing so much more value in handling players, picks and cash like the NBA.
Talib didnt have a cap hit for next year anyway though - right?
So this money we freed up is for this year and this year only. Now we could convert another contract somehow and use money that was going to be for someone else in the future and spend it this year ....

Im kinda confused.
Florida has no state income tax, if the Dolphins are paying Talib he will make more money from a less taxed check. Smart move
We likely weren't going to see it and if we did it was the last 2 weeks of the year.I trust in the FO but I'm a little bummed that we won't get to see what Talib and Ramsey will look like on the same team together.
You mean the NFC Champ Game and the Super Bowl?We likely weren't going to see it and if we did it was the last 2 weeks of the year.
