I know some of you are still pi$$ed at him. But I was discussing this today at work with some other rabid fans (non-Rams fans but hey you gotta settle sometimes) and the difference in ownership is so profound that it deserves some conversation IMO.

Some of you don't remember this, but I recall clearly the team that Georgia mismanaged, or rather allowed her non-football cronies to mismanage. Shaw was a smart dude, not taking anything away from him, but he was too much beancounter and not enough football exec. And Ziggy, well, let's just say that words alone cannot explain how relieved I am to have an owner for my favorite team who is willing to build a knowledgeable front office that can hopefully sustain a nice window of success.

Even worse was the way she FIRED the son of the man who passed the team to her. What a damn joke that whole thing was holy F. I mean honestly, if I knew then what I know now (irt how important owners are) I would have found a new team.

Fast forward to now and we have an owner who immediately upgraded this franchise by hiring a good leader of men in Fish. Like him or hate him, he's at least an average head coach and that's saying something given what Stan inherited. Stan then allowed him just about a full term to install his team before moving on to one of the most brilliant and franchise-changing hires of all time for this team IMO.

I've given Kevin some flak here (before he actually started signing some of our top players) but it's pretty clear now that he and Les Snead make a good team in support of Sean & Wade. The franchise really is set up for long term success and it's in large part to the man who also solved the LA stadium issue for the league.

We are incredibly fortunate dudes. Our Rams are an elite franchise now. Hopefully big playoff wins that accompany and prove teams to be elite will follow sooner than later.
How much did he pay you??

Give Stan credit for allowing the Rams to spend to the salary cap each year. Other owners do not. Stan also pays well, see Jeff Fisher, also give more than ample time to see if they can do the job, again see Jeff Fisher. Dont know much else about him, and care not too.

Love me some Stan Kroenke! Dude knows business and how to make money. He’s working on getting his teams ( we are the crown jewel) to win now. He’s got a hell of an impressive team and it’s a shame some are only seeing it now when it’s undeniable that they are more than pulling their weight!

Hell of an owner.

Stan is the man. All the pieces are coming together (COO and VP, GM, Coaches, Scouting & Development, all the way down to the trainers). The Rams are going to kick ass and take no prisoners in each and every game. And with the new LASED stadium coming soon in 2020, the L.A. "Rams House" chant is going to be deafening.

Pushes the limits of the cap each year, pay top dollar for a coaching staff and is building the premier stadium of the league. Sure, I can see why some are happy with him.
On the other hand, I surely can understand why many feel the polar opposite

Nothing to appreciate. These are business people and they make business moves. His move to LA was a brilliant one for him and his franchise.

My goal for any owner, write those fat checks and hire the right people. Stay out f the way and don't meddle. Kroenke appears to do that.

I will also add the Rams finally have the right people. They have the first good GM/Coach combo in 20 years. Even Martz was terrible. The Rams were unfortunate because Dick Vermeil pump faked on his retirement and came back to coach KC. Had Vermeil stayed on and hired Al Saunders as OC while Martz left to HC somewhere, I think the Rams plight would have been different.

Also, Kroenke makes Georgia look like a saint at least financially. I think John Robinson said it best, they were successful in the 80s in spite of her, she actually was never trying or cared to field a winner.

If you look at the 1999/2000 era moves, the bad front office employed by our previous owner could not handle the success they lucked into with Vermiel's hire. Even when they got it right they immediately mismanaged it by letting Vermiel ride off into the sunset.

Just my opinion here, but I felt like the way the Rams fell all over themselves to align Martz as the next head coach was a big factor in why Vermiel elected to retire. That plus I doubt the Rams tried very hard to convince him otherwise. And the fact that he resurfaced quickly in KC sort of backs that up in my mind at least.

Vermiel tied it all together, and upgraded their talent evaluation greatly as evidenced by the quality of drafts in his tenure as opposed to the drafts before and after him. He basically made up for the lack of quality in our front office at the time, and as good as Martz was tactically he was not skilled enough to fill Vermiel's shoes in that way. Poor drafts and leakage of talent assembled by Vermiel followed, as well as the drastically shortened window of winning.

It all starts with the ownership. Even when things start to go right, if the owner isn't good there's a much greater chance of wheels fallin off the wagon prematurely, because when you win you get picked over in FA and the coaching staff. Look at this staff now, and you see an unpoachable staff basically, with offensive and defensive knowledge baked in to two leaders that aren't going anywhere. Only way to poach Wade is make him a head coach and he probably ain't interested in that right now.

I have no illusions if he were to live long enough in a hypothetically similar St Louis situation, he would play the same hardball with LA and its fanbase, as he did with St Louis and the fans there to further his interests.

I agree completely with this..........he led the move out of LA to cash a big check.

No one has to revere him. I respect his business smarts and love that he is the owner of our team with what I’ve seen him do. And it helps that we now have the second richest owner in football and he seems to view the Rams as his crown jewel. I’ll take it.

The point about him being the second richest isn't critical because all of the NFL teams have payroll and tens of millions of profit dollars guaranteed each year by TV and other revenues. So any other owner could spend the same. Outside of the cap for players staff salaries are not that different. Maybe a handful of millions per year.

Hot coaching prospects generally go to the spot where they can be a winning coach and work with a great GM. Yes sometimes bad teams/owners have to overpay for a HC or OC but even then it's not a number that would have any effect on even the poorest owner.

There is just SO much money in the game.

He's been one of the owners of the Rams for about 25 years now, and has been inviolved in hiring GM's and HC's.

So NOW he's finally figured it out LOL??????????

Hes not Snyder, Ross, Haslam....

Or Jerruh. And thankfully that's true. Because those are the four worst owners in the NFL.

Haslem has to be among the worst the NFL has ever seen. He grew up a Steelers fan and tried to buy into that club several years back. I think he bought the Browns and is making a mess out of them on purpose!!!

That's just not true. He lent his expertise, but that was ALL the showgirl looking to cash in.

Yeah, and I'm one of the owners of Ford Motor Company, but I don't make the decisions. You are not being fair or objective - I get you don't like the guy - fine, but you are not being factual.

Got anything that indicates he was involved much as minority owner? My understanding was that he was an inactive minor owner.

Critical may be a little strong but don't kid yourself that players and personnel are not swayed by a 1st class operation and facilities. Stan's business history was also of extreme interest to Suh when they were courting him.

And I don't really care how much you think all these owners are getting. Very few if any of them could do what Stan is doing in LA. The idea that a few million wouldn't have any affect on even the poorest owners is not based in any kind of reality. Of course it does. Certainly it wouldn't make them poor. But "poorer" owners are not going to do what Stan is doing and are not as likely to attract the more brilliant minds.

Hes been a minority owner, which means he has no final say on anything until he becomes majority owner. Thays how most business partnerships, at least in sports eork.

Yeah, but he's not Buss, Anschutz, or Mark Walter either.

I mean, it's so far so good, and the team has taken HUGE steps on the field, off the field, front office, branding, marketing and just plain realistic optimism, expectations, and buzz (ok, huge steps basically everywhere), but the team hasn't even played in the big game yet.

Care to explain?
Like, uh... what the freak does your sister’s uncle’s brother’s friend’s neighbor’s cousin have to do with anything.

Please be more specific, or better yet....

Stan Kroenke is the best thing to happen to the Rams since Eric Dickerson.

Christ - everyday I am dumbfounded by what people put online. But thanks for playing Rook.

Ya I am rolling big time w/ this statement!!!

I love Stan!!!

My dad had season tickets the whole run at Anaheim. At the end of one game, I think Redskins, and just before they moved to St. Louis, some people dropped a huge sign. It was there for 3-4 minutes before the ushers ripped it down. The sign only had 4 words, but were big black letters on a white background. The sign really stood out. Those 4 words were, "GEORGIA IS A baby door"

So yeah, love me some Stan!

The GREAT about The Rams is The Structure in place. The Rams under McVay,Snead,Demoff really are fan friendly.

The Greatest thing about Stan Kroenke is his Legacy in LA for his stadium. It’s already bringing the Olympics back.Plus as a Ram owner he supports Demoff & franchise to the fullest.
