He escapes and throws a 5 yard loss to Henderson thow it in the ground.
The overthrows, the throw behind the receivers, the deep shot to OBJ where he can clearly see 2 DBs back there.
We are down by 17 and he is throwing 2 yard outs. Really bad decision making.
Last week against Tennessee, the throw out of the end zone was another bad mental decision. Just throw it at the ground not in the air. The Woods throw was nowhere open how do you not see that. He was covered it wasn't even a good play on the ball by the DB it was another bad mental decision.
I am seriously worried that he doesn't have the mental makeup to lead us to the SB. I am really serious. The goal is to make the fewest mistakes he seems to panic a little. It's not McVay McVay didn't overthrow Skoronick in the end zone who was open, he overthrew Skoronick over the middle and it was almost picked. I could go on and on.
If he was so good and such a savior he would have lead Detroit to more playoff appearances. Rivers did, Brees did etc. These are QBs with huge resumes like Stafford but they are more poised and don't make these type of mistakes.
I made the same statement when he was acquired. I was open minded and hopeful, but after the last two games he really is long term scaring me. Hope I am wrong he is too streaky and not a winner imo. I don't care how many come from behind wins he has he has no playoff wins.
I believe it is a panic mentality. Not a winner mentality.
What I don't want is the defenders to blindly defend him. We beat really bad teams every team we beat minus TB none are making the playoffs most likely. AZ, Tenn and SF destroyed us doesn't this honestly worry you? Try to take this take seriously and think about this take. I am not sure I'm right, but I am throwing this out there
Tampa was 7-5 last year and looked really mediocre. Brady and Arians got together after their bye and worked out their issues.
I live here and it wasn't all "we're gonna win the Super Bowl" When they were 7-5, it was like "well, we suck a little less with Brady...so?"
They also added a late piece in AB and Gronk got healthy.
We're only adding OBJ on the offense and we lost Woods, but we're adding Von Miller who will do well for us. We may also get Cam Akers back, which would be a MASSIVE boost presuming he's healed up and healthy. I still would prefer he wait to play until next season, but if he's good to go, he would be a pretty solid upgrade over Hendo who's not the best runner in a slobberknocker game.
The problem is only partly Stafford who I think is playing with a bigger back issue than he's letting on and it's affecting his location... a lot. I really hope he gets healed up over the next two weeks. The bigger problem is we're running a 3-4, but won't even put the 3 DL on the field. We're running a crazy hybrid that relies on 2 interior DL and 1 ILB to stop the interior run game. That's impossible and thus far, we've not done well at it, but when playing with a lead, it matters less.
I reject the "we'll never win with McVay" nonsense, but I can see after some bad losses why some folks feel that way. It's nonsense, but I've yet to see a game where the GDT doesn't have people jumping off of buildings halfway through a bad game, so... I dunno.
Maybe we're so conditioned to sucking that when we don't we still deep down don't trust the success and every failure is seen as "the sky is falling...see, told ya".
We'll see. Unfortunately, we have to wait two weeks and then have to play one of the hottest teams in the NFL in their crib in the snow and cold. It's a HUGE ask.
This team can most certainly do it, but we're gonna need this team to come together in a big way.
