“Look, I came here to discuss Stafford!”

“Oh, I’m sorry… this room is for Goff abuse. You want the room two doors down!”

“Oh…my mistake.”

“Stupid Goff-loving git.”

Youre literally the biggest Goff apologist in the history of this board LOL. What fucking reality do you live in bro??
Both he and I feel when people use the word apologist, they are using it to insult us without directly insulting us.

You can say biggest supporter, fan, etc.

Just stop using the word apologist since the hidden meaning is an insult directed at Goff supporters.

That's all we ask.

I think the word is appropriate, especially in situations where those apologists feel the need to include him in any and every QB discussion when he has nothing to do with it.

If this thread doesn't get back on the original topic perhaps it's best to shut it down.

Wow, this thread went off the rails. What the fuck is wrong with everybody? Didn't we just recently win a Super Bowl with Stafford? Everybody was happy as shit then saying it was the best goddamn trade in Rams recent history. If the topic is Stafford just keep it there, he's an older QB behind a weak o-line, period. Get him some protection this next off-season thru either a combo of free agency or the draft and watch what he can do with more than 2 seconds to make a read. He's not a true scrambler that makes a bunch of plays outside the pocket but he move a little if there is space to move. The Wentz signing only tells me that if Stafford goes down we at least have an NFL caliber QB to step in and possibly not embarrass the organization as would happen if Rypien had to see extended service. The front office does not want to alienate fans buts that's exactly what would happen if Rypien finished the season for some reason. Everybody needs to just take a chill pill as we weren't expecting a whole lot this season to begin with. We have some new foundational pieces to build around with Avila, Nacua, Young, E. Jones plus our holdovers. The sky might be somewhat dark but it is NOT falling. We should all just see what we can build upon coming out of our bye and have high aspirations for next season.

No - not at all. You don't need to indirectly insult people. Period.

If Apologist is appropriate, conversely a Goff Troll would be as well I suppose
Why anyone would feel they would need to apologize for appreciating Goff leading the comeback in the NFC Championship game is beyond me

I think in hindsight everything is pretty clear, at least to me:

Stafford is better than what a lot of people thought and worse than what some others thought (funny how the truth lies somewhere in between) - definitely worse than what McVay thought (well, probably more accurate to say worse than what McVay has said publicly about Matt).

It's also obvious that he was better than Goff, just based on 2020 vs 2021.

Goff's resurgence makes sense given the elite OL and near-elite run game and great weapons that Detroit has. It's very similar to the supporting cast he had here in 2017 and 2018, which we already knew Goff could THRIVE in.

It's obvious that the trade was necessary, because the supporting cast had deteriorated. And going "all in", as much as I hate to admit, definitely robbed our depth and now you see what the team is when faced with any significant injuries, which has happened both of the last two seasons.

Goff would not be having success here right now, but the reality is....Stafford isn't either. I felt like I was correct and vindicated when we won it all with Stafford, but seeing his inability to cover for injuries the last years, I have to admit that as high as I was on Matt in 2021 - and look, he's probably one of two or three QBs ever to have three game winning drives in the playoffs - or maybe one of one - he is definitely not that good.

Which....I'm good. Move on after this year or don't....either way we ARE drafting a QB, I guarantee it. And we won the whole fucking thing and after this reset year, have cap space and picks. Let's fucking go

Stafford has played like shit since that Super Bowl. It's been maybe a couple sharp games and a bunch of stinkers where he has been incapable of staying focused a full 60.

All QBs are affected by players around them, moreso than most fans realize I think. But also each QB requires different things to be fully successful. Goff is incapable of carrying an offense with his arm. Stafford did exactly that for us to win a title, but since that time he's either not hungry enough or focused enough or healthy enough or resilient enough to continue it. Or maybe the players around him simply are not good enough, but either way he deserves blame for the way he has played.

And that is where we differ from most people I think. Equal opportunity QB bashers. We've been in lockstep on this QB situation for 3-4 years now.

There was the Indy game tho. Plus in the other 2 wins he didn't have to do much bc they used Kryen. Which is what people want? Lol I don't even know any more.

Cincy and Dallas destroyed him. The pick against the latter was his worst one by far.

The other games were meh. I don't think hes been shit level bad but could be better.

Stafford’s playing hero ball like he did in Detroit. He won lots of praise for it but obviously not too many games. Rams had a perfect storm of events that got them the Super Bowl Championship. That’s what it takes most of the time. Now Stafford’s back to his Detroit state of mind and play. His motto is fuck the play call I’m throwing deep to anyone regardless of which jersey they wear. He got his money and doesn’t give a flying fuck about winning. McVay’s been so damn busy kissing his ass he can’t possibly question his play. Stafford’s going to linger around like a really bad case of the clap until they pay him to leave. Boy wonder will be in the unemployment line within 2 years. Sooner if the Rams had an owner who actually cared about winning. That’s a fact jack!

Personally, I think this is an absolutely awful take.

Yeah screw it, this thread was derailed days ago so

“I’ll repeat myself, at the risk of being crude”

McVay 42-20 with JG as starting QB

21-23 with all others, ie, a losing record

Remember now, no excuses allowed by some of you resident name callers, you can’t have it both ways

So…why is this so?

8-18 after winning SB

QB we shall leave nameless is at the moment 15- 10 same time period, leading another rebuild success story

Must gall the daylights out of some… we’re in for tough times ladies while that other guy is killing it

Oh well
