That’s unfortunate, best of luck in Dallas expect when you’re facing us. Hope our new ST coach will bring the production up a notch

When was the last time one of our punt or kick returns went for more than 15 yards?? We also commit like 1 or 2 penalties a game on special teams it seems like. We still have Hekker and hopefully Zuerlein. And we also did not block any punts this season. In 2017 we went crazy and blocked like 4 or 5. Maybe the coaching wore off or maybe former ST standouts like Littleton were not replaced adequately

Truth be told the Ramhave been a rhythm finesse team under McVay. Time to work in some kick ass attitude a la Donald, Ramsey, Woods, and yes Higbee.

Need to bring in some toughness

I might get some grief for my personal opinion but here I go.

like many on here. I sensed Wade would not be brought back and I agree with McVay & company on this decision..

As far a Fassel, I agree with the decision to let him take his show to Jerry world.

As far as Cory Littleton, I sense he's not getting resigned to the mega buck contract many think he deserves and I'm fine if that happens.

As far a Fowler & Brockers, I'm not sold that they are going to be worth their F/A market value.

Weddle we all expect to be released and Clay Matthews is probably 50/50 to return and I"m fine with that.

The Rams have had a great 3 year run but the moves they're making via coaching and the ones they make down the road on player personnel are decisions I trust McVay and company to be the right ones.

McVay is no longer a puppy head coach and he's learned a lot from his mistakes over the last 3 seasons.

I trust this organization to make tough decisions and so far they're doing just that.

Will these decisions all pan out? Very unlikely, but I'm on board with their vision and look forward to some more unexpected things to happen.

Don't see why this post should be grief inducing.

The Rams are going to get younger next season as we lose some vets and draft replacements.
It's a team in transition after creating a big stir in the league with a creative new Head Coach adding some excellent free agents which helped get us to the Super Bowl. Now the taxman is calling and our expensive free agents must part, 3 years in as HC, McVay and Snead can makeover the team once again in their image. I look forward to moving forward.

I just remember a new, very innovative head coach (Martz) that had horrible special teams, we gave up multiple TD's a year on bad ST coverage and a star returner that fumbled as many as he ran back.

My friend always knew what happened whenever i started cursing Hakim's name watching the games, He said Hakim was his favorite Ram, cause he fumbled it so often, (fittingly) he is a Pats fan...

If you reach the end of a deal and your current employer does little to keep you and Dallas is offereing a shitload of cash, that means we didn't try that hard. We'll find out more, but we know this is basically a lateral move, not really a promotion...

Yes, we don't know what was offered or not offered, but it doesn't look good.

No one knows what went on...maybe Bones wanted a change of scenery...maybe the team decided to go a different direction

Why not wait until more info comes out before throwing anyone under the bus

JMHO of course

Bones was a holdover from Fisher
So you're saying we're doomed without Bones? Testify, brother!

I like Bones but tired of his act this year.
It’s all good when the ST perform well and bad when they are bad. They were bad this year.
The D vomited on the game at SF as did the ST....and Goff’s pic....a complete team loss I guess.
His ST went from good to bad pretty quickly.
In going to Dallas he is going to a team with a loaded roster that should be win ready.....and no state income tax.

I guess this decision to not do what it took to keep Bones, is yet another sign from this season that McVay has been making mistakes and is not perfect. I thought he was deceptive about Gurley all year. We could see Todd wasn't a 100%, although he had a few games that were good near the end of the year.
I was screaming about keeping Saffold before the season, but we were assured that everything would be good on the Oline with the young guys. Kromer and Whitworth had schooled everyone up to speed. But it wasn't ok, until it was too late.

Say what you want about Wades Defense, his defense was the only reason why the Rams were at all competitive in last years Super Bowl. His defense was more responsible than the offense for a winning record this year. As for Bones, he was off because his kicker had issues and KR/PR had issues. It was a off year for his unit, but now we dump a mainstay on the team and go fishing in the dark for some college coach to replace him? We have run out of the many FOS (Friends of Sean) who are on other teams..... Hopefully we are not screwing the next season

Do I want to dump McVay? Hell no. But I'm also not buying anymore in soley the "In McVay I Trust," mantra

I want to say this is a big loss. Yet, statistically, our special teams have been middling for a while now. And save for individual brilliance from Hekker and GZ - who both had down years - our special teams have probably ranked in the bottom third of the league for 3 years now. It seems like we haven't had good coverage, kick blocking, or returning ability since the Fisher years. I am not sure if the issue was coaching or personnel though. I am concerned we might not find anyone better than Bones, yet can understand how McVay might have wanted a change at this point.

So did we just not compete with Dallas over Bones? Or was this just a total fuck up?
Sounds like the later...
How about the possibility that it was mutual?

Agreed. Our ST commits way too many penalties. Johnny Hekker can make any coach look good.

The taxes and CoL are much lower in Dallas. Even if the Rams matched his salary, he'd be making far more money in Dallas. I'd live in Dallas long before I lived in LA.
