The Los Angeles Rams have not finalized their coaching staff and they still need a running back coach and special teams coordinator. One would surmise that they must have someone targeted on the Super Bowl Coaching Staffs, otherwise, why not finalize the staff now?

Looking over both staffs I don't think a RB Coach will come off one of those staffs although Robert Turner of the 49ers is a renown RB Coach, IMO, it must be Special Teams and I believe it could be Rod Wilson of the Chiefs. Other teams have poached anyone working under the renown Special Team Coach Dave Toub and Wilson has some collegiate experience besides being an NFL Veteran of six years and an academic all american from South Carolina, I believe would be a nice replacement for John Fassel.

Rod Wilson enters his second season with the Chiefs in 2018. He previously spent four seasons (2013-16) at Charleston Southern coaching the safeties, inside linebackers and assisted with special teams, following a six-year NFL career.
Wilson assisted Special Teams Coordinator Dave Toub, helping guide K Harrison Butker to a decorated rookie season - recording a franchise record of 23 consecutive FGs, ranking second in franchise history for most FGs made in a single season and tied for first for the most 50-plus yard FGs made in a season with four.
Wilson also assisted with the return and coverage units, in which during the 2017 season, the Chiefs led the NFL in kick returns (40) for 1,051 yards. Under his tutelage, WR/PR Tyreek Hill earned his second Pro Bowl selection, tallying 25 punt returns for 204 yards and a touchdown.
Within his four years at CSU, he made a brief stop in Kansas City as part of the league's Bill Walsh NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship during the club's 2015 training camp. Under Wilson's tutelage, CSU landed at least one linebacker on the Big South's All-Conference squad each of his four seasons. In 2016, Wilson helped guide the Buccaneers defense to top rankings within the league, limiting opponents to the fewest rushing touchdowns (15) and fewest total rushing yards (1,488). The 2015 Buccaneers ranked atop the league in total defense (292.0 yards per game) and held opponents to the second-fewest rushing yards per game (147.1) which helped earn an outright Big South title and the program's first-ever berth into the FCS Playoffs.
Prior to his collegiate coaching career, Wilson enjoyed a six-year playing career in the National Football League. Originally selected in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft (220th overall) by the Chicago Bears, Wilson appeared in 51 games for the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, tallying 47 tackles and one forced fumble while primarily playing a special teams role under then-Special Teams Coach Dave Toub. Wilson's career highlights include four playoff appearances, which included two NFC Championship appearances and a trip to Super Bowl XLI.
The Cross, S.C. native attended the University of South Carolina, where he played five different positions for the Gamecocks (quarterback, wide receiver, spur, safety and linebacker) and put together an outstanding senior year as one of USC's captains, leading the team in tackles (68) while earning All-SEC honors, and SEC Academic Honor Roll accolades.

Well, it's obvious the Rams are going in another direction...Hopefully it's not Stan Kwan the Assistant Special Team Coach of the 49ers, Kwan has plenty of experience when he oversaw a unit in Detroit it was not good and Kwan is not the energetic type and I believe McVay is looking for those type of coaches.

I like what Wilson of the Chiefs would bring to the table, a former player, plus the combination of collegiate experience along with serving under Toub, although IMO, Toub would be much better off leaving Kansas City for Los Angeles because you can't shovel sunshine.

That would be an inspired hire and makes a lot of sense Den. Probably time for Wilson to strike out on his own and the Rams are a good destination. Oh and it explains the delay in the replacement hire too.

I'll just say again though that how the bottom end of the roster is shaped is a big deal to the ST coach types particularly the best ones. McVay has not been Fish, he tends to favor upside at times in those final cuts. Which I suspect was a point of contention behind the scenes given the way Bones got what he wanted under Fish.

Crazy that's the name I was looking at the other day. Very young in coaching but he's also worked for probably the most respected ST coach. Makes a lot of sense if he's the target since he's still coaching.

The hits keep coming for the Los Angeles Rams’ coaching staff. Having already lost John Fassel to the Cowboys and Jedd Fisch to the Patriots, another coach is also leaving Sean McVay’s group.

According to ESPN, Special teams assistant Matt Daniels is joining Mike McCarthy’s staff in Dallas, sticking with Fassel. The Rams also removed Daniels’ page from the team’s website.

Some final additions to Mike McCarthy’s staff in Dallas: Matt Daniels (Rams assistant special teams) as assistant special teams coach and Cannon Matthews (Redskins defensive quality control) as defensive quality control.
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) January 25, 2020

Daniels was with the St. Louis Rams as a player from 2012-2014 before spending two years with the Jaguars and Chargers from 2014-2015. In 2018, he got his first job as a coach, joining the Rams and spending the last two years as a special teams assistant.

Daniels played under Fassel when he was with the Rams, so they obviously have a connection. Learning under Fassel is a good way for Daniels to develop as a coach and he’ll get the chance to continue doing that in Dallas.

Well in hindsight some of you were correct to be worried. Hopefully that shit is behind us though.

does this looks like the face of a man who wants to stay under the same roof as his father when he can get his own double wide, binge on his own Natty Lite, and have an 82 Trans Am on blocks in his own front lawn? I didn’t think so.
