He's been hit in the head several games in a row without a penalty bring called. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he sustained a concussion and is trying to work through it.

I know he took a headshot against Seattle. I think he got one in NO, although I didn't get to watch that whole game so I might be making that up. He took the double headshot in KC. I don't know about last week. He got snacked on the head at least once this game that wasn't called. His dome is taking a lot of punishment that the NFL is supposedly trying to avoid for is star players.

Not trying to excuse him or anything, but it's a thing that's happening almost every week now.

(That's better. It was me. I'm a dumbass. Just ask @LesBaker )

Some of those hits are his fault though, he holds on to the ball too long. ( A lot of times)

Goff looked low energy/under the weather against the Lions - however - I did not hear any confirmation he was sick. Goff looked confused and did not exude confidence against the Bears. I would say a lot of that is due to the impressive Bears defense but it was alarming that it showed for the entire game. I am in favor of waiting to see if things settle down at home against the Lions but it will be under a watchful eye.

An athlete does not get to this level and remain fragile.
His confidence, focus, energy, leadership will not be changed by a couple of bad games.
Also, we don't know how much of either performance falls on Goff.
Confusion up front blocking, WR not on the same page as the QB with coverages, play calling etc.
Outside of an injury, which there has been no report of, there is nothing to worry about with Goff in my opinion.

I can see the stance that something might be wrong with him whether it is illness or blows to the head but at the same time he seems like a REALLY laid back guy. Maybe he just deals with adversity by taking it down a notch.

Goff is fine. He's a young QB. They have their ups and downs.

unfortunately this offense is missing Kupp tremendously

Particularly against the better defenses that is definitely true. Dallas is another defense that might give us problems without Kupp.

Hopefully the wideouts step it up. For all the flak Goff deservedly is getting, he wasn't the only one who wasn't up to snuff last night.

Yeah, seemed the cold weather aged them quickly last night. They were dominated.

Need to keep adding depth there in case either Noteboom or Allen do not work out. Can't let this line fall apart like it did in the early 90's in front of Everett, which short circuited his career.

Exactly. I trust Snead and McVay to have a plan, but I really hope we get some guys, if they're on the roster already or not, who can play significant snaps throughout the season for the older guys on the line without a major drop off. That'll extend their careers, and help as the season goes. Plus it gives the younger guys really good experience.

Maybe ... just maybe... Goff had no run game, bad play calling, no protection, confusion with his WRs, back to back road games, cold, loud, getting over an illness and faced the best D in the league playing the biggest game of their season?

He wasn't good, but its not as if he had a chance to look good in those conditions.

Honestly, he might have been worse vs the Lions.. but the team wasn't.

I actually think Goff had enough time to throw the ball but he held the ball too long. Maybe the Bears covered well or guys ran the wrong route but on most plays, Goff was just out of sync. I hope he gets back to speed soon.

Agreed

Sorta hard to believe we’re 11-2 with two road losses vs Division leaders...such negativity... bitches gonna bitch, right?

Then again what do I know?

You may be missing the point. He had two bad games in a row and they are nearing the playoffs. It seems logical that some fans may be worried. I know I am. If Goff can't get his accuracy and consistency back it won't be good for the playoff. They only scored six points. Should have been mine, but zero TDs from this offense that you pointed out is 11-2 and we all agreed has been great all year. Only getting two field goals is a huge drop off.

according to goff himself, there's nothing wrong with him. he faced two defenses that played really well while he played really bad. won't be the first time it happened and it won't be the last, if his career lasts as long as he hopes it will. he's looking forward to playing at home. he's under no illusions about his play right now.

He has been running for his life in both games . I would put more blame on the boys up front.

My point wasn't why he was getting hit (I am not here just to shit on Goff), but that he's taken several hits that should be penalties but aren't getting called. If we're talking about what is contributing to his recent poor performance, the refs essentially declaring his consciousness fair game for destruction probably is one of those things.

But hey, just keep peddling the stuff about Goff being inadequate without providing anything constructive or meaningful to the discussion. I'm sure it will never get old.

I was wondering the same thing, it's often that these guys are like this when somethingwhen something is happening in their personal life. I trust McVay will get a handle on it

Trust me, McVay's got all he can handle...

Two had games in a row. One against a very good Coordinator the other against a great defense. In Chicago the Oline didn't play well, we gave up on the run way to early. The offense was just out of sync. All that said it doesn't change the fact that Goff has had 2 bad games. He needs to start taking what the defense is giving him and be patient. When it's not there throw the ball away. Hopefully he can snap out of it these next few games so we can go into the playoffs on a high note.

Simply put we played a really good defense and had bad game plan. If Gurley is involved more in both games against the Lions and Bears we win both with ease. McVay has to run the ball good defense's will not fall for the play action pass if you haven't ran the ball. In the Bears game when they didn't blitz they dropped back all the LB's in coverage.

The only thing that has gotten weaker is mcvay playcalling.

Umm, well that doesn't help explain why the O-line play has lost its power down the stretch both last year and this one.
