The problem we are having right now is a lack of young first-term talent thanks to too much wheeling and dealing for vets to take shots. This draft it will continue, and next year's draft as well.

Meanwhile the 9ers have a pick at 13 and 31 in this loaded draft, so will have a great fucking haul right out the gate to further that distance between the teams. I don't care how good Les is at finding nuggets outside round 1, it's an unsustainable model.

I love Ramsey and all, but he's still not signed. Rams might not be able to do that until next offseason. And if we lose that dude it's fucking armageddon. Sorry but this is where the sins of the past catch up to us and it sucks to watch it unfold.

My concern is what do the Rams' front office do when McVay can't compete with the top teams with this roster. Blame him probably and let him escape to make another team a perennial winner. Yeah I know negativity is unbecoming but I'm at a fucking low point right now. Need to self quarantine for a while I think fuck.

The rams have shown they are willing to reward a MINORITY of their players. Given many deserve it, its def not the majority, no team can afford that. But no first round picks for two years and shedding cap just to use it on another star player when We have decisions to make on Kupp, JJ3, etc, next season...its becoming obvious we went all in the last few years. As for Gurley, the dude had just come off knee surgery when we drafted him, the fact they didnt cover their asses by adding any type of injury clause is looking stupid right now.
Yes we were banking on championship runs the last two years. We made it once but didn’t win. Now we’re getting rid of vets, kind of like a small rebuild, and we will see just how good Snead’s 2018 drafts and beyond will be. We’re counting on the young guys to step up. We will see how it all plays out.

Rams fans have heightened expectations but 9-7 will likely make the playoffs with the new playoff format this year. As inconsistent as the Rams were last year they should have been 10-6 (Seahawks game) could have been 11-5 (49ers game) and might have been 12-4 (Steelers game). If they go 9-7 and make the playoffs there will be little heat on the FO/coaching. If they go 8-8 or worse and miss playoffs then the torches and pitchforks will come out.

Do you have a point or are you just throwing insults. seems to be the latter

yeah, my point is this - isn't it a bit early to start whining about the rams management? wait until they have a losing season since mcvay arrived.

Why would management get ANY heat for this??? I know ya'll liked Gurely but something had to be done.

Maybe because management is what put themselves in the situation to have to do this?

This FO, for whatever reason, has a habit of giving huge extensions to players 3 years in to a 5 year commitment, and it basically never works out. They did it with Tavon, they did it with Quinn, they did it with Gurley, they've done it with Goff (and that's not looking so good right now, either). Didn't they do it with Ogletree, too?

There's no valid reason why, when you have a player under control for 2 more years, plus an extra year beyond that with a tag, that you hand out these extensions like candy and put yourself in a bad cap situation. The Rams current tight cap problem is a problem entirely of their own unnecessary doing, and it's cost the team one of the best players in the league during a period of time that they'd only now have to be worrying about giving him a big payday that would be team friendly this year and next. Not only that, but because we keep trading away our 1st rounders (we're gonna go 4 years without a pick in that round?), trading them for players about to make big paydays, we're *never* going to get out of this cap situation with that strategy.

So you ask why would management take any heat? I question why you're suggesting anybody BUT management should be taking it.

Sure, 9-7 probably will make the playoffs this year. Do you see 9-7, though?

I see 6-10. And I think I'm being optimistic. We're down to 1 otherworldly talent on our d-line, one seminal talent in our secondary, a couple of good receivers, and a quarterback who at times looks top 5 and other times looks like Ryan Fitzpatrick.

THis fricking post @Merlin !

I honestly can give a pass to it all and it could continue being sustainable, but the Ramsey trade really did us in.

The warning sign is when he was sitting out saying his back was injured but everyone knew he was ok, he just didn't want to play. You DO NOT trade 2 firsts for a player like that, especially if he isn't traded with an already negotiated contract.

I first got worried listening to Deion being his mentor through this all and him talking about Ramsey not playing in LA even if we match anybody elses offer due to the taxes, and they both had multiple conversations about this, multiple times.

We fucked ourselves trading for him, and now have to pay him 20 mill + a season probably with concessions for Jalen? SMFH..

As predicted when we traded for him, going to get bent over with no lube. This is horrible, bad FO move.

Again I am talking about front office not McKay. Demoff is in 11th year and Snead 8th. So they have had more losing than winning seasons. They may not be the worst but they certainly haven’t been upper echelon

My opinion on the success of GM Snead for the Rams is in a constant liquid state.(y)

Snead can move my thoughts over into the highly positive area of my GM Snead rating meter by accomplishing the following:

#1- CB Jalen Ramsey signed to a long term 5 yr contract just after the 2020 draft.
#2- WR Cooper Kupp signed to a long term 5 yr contract during the 2020 regular season.
#3- FS John Johnson III signed before he becomes a UFA.
#4- TE/FB Gerald Everett signed before he becomes a UFA.
#5- WR Brandon Cooks is utilized as 2020 draft day trade fodder to maneuver to secure the desire targeted prospect.
#6- RT Rob Havenstein is utilized as 2020 draft day trade fodder to maneuver to secure the desire targeted prospect.
#7- Snead from this point on does not sign any UFA's that will have an effect on the 2021 CDPA's (possibly securing two 3rd round picks{ Fowler $15 mil/ Littleton #11.75 mil/ Brockers $10 mil vs A'Shawn Robinson $8 mil)

Agreed. Ramsey right now is probably my single biggest concern moving forward. You make good points re: Deion and you are right it's a concern but you know what really chaps my hide? When he outed our rookie Rapp to the press. In that moment I feel like he really showed who he is, i.e. a very selfish player.

Not sure how it's going to go down. But I'll say this... IF you think you won't be able to sign him trade his fucking ass now while we can still get something more than a round 3 pick.

Thank you. Thank you. One hundred percent agree. Ramsey trade was egregious. Look at what the eagles just gave up for Slay. It pales.

How do you possibly give up that much draft capital without a contract extension in place?

Not only that, but we were bidding against ourselves and everybody knew that Jacksonville HAD to get rid of him....

Yep and for a player that as faking an injury. And the rams seemed to take him on his word on his willingness to sign. I do not see this ending well.

I would hope both Ramsey & Kupp get done.

Johnson and Everett I think are good as gone following this season, we're not going to have the cap to prioritize them. Of the two Johnson is more important and also plays a cheap FA position, but I suspect both will leave as FA.

Rams I presume will use their out in Cooks' contract following the 2020 season. But I suppose it's possible to use him to move up if they wish in the draft, but not sure he's really a good tool for that.

Havenstein is definitely a good tool to move up in the draft with. His contract is very team friendly and teams will be interested in adding him. What bothers me about him is we'd be moving him when his value is low so if it was me I'd hold on to him and hope for a bounceback season.

Once the payout is done for the Ramsey trade I think the Rams need to be more careful moving forward with their round 1 picks. And this is just me but if I am Stan Kroenke I'd be looking around the league for a GM to replace Les Snead. IMO he is not disciplined enough wrt keeping an eye on the future.

Lastly the good thing here is we still have a chance to remain a contender, so it's not like it used to be where we had to delude ourselves that we had a shot. It's just gonna take a fantastic draft haul to ensure we don't slip.
