There's no way Sony Michel gets waived, and in the unlikely event he does, the Rams will be too far down the list to claim him.
He's also a bit Henderson-ish in that he gets hurt every year....

I concur that Michel is talented, but durability has always been the issue and feel that would be the last thing the Rams need now.

That doesn’t make me interested in any one except possibly Murray.

McVay doesn't seem interested in using a FB in his offense.

Perhaps that's true, but for some reason McVay did draft undersized FB Sam Rogers his first year here as HC.
Ben Mason is a big versatile blocking FB, HB, and sometimes TE who would have been a great natural fit in our system imo.

Hard no to Snell and Penny.
I agree, right now there are few I like, but if they make a move, it could be somebody they like we don't know about with teams that have depth at that position.

Anyone else notice that some of the suggestions being made are unrealistic or seem to be injury prone?

And an older experienced back (hopefully one willing to sellout on special teams) on the downside of his career may make some comfortable, but I wonder if said player will really be an upgrade?

Should be interesting.

Don't want an upgrade

Just want someone that is good on 3rd down and short and goal line situations

And someone who can pass protect on 3rd down and long and is a good outlet when Stafford gets in trouble

Right now - I don't think we have anyone that really fits that mold.

Cannot say that I agree with your analysis, but what you are describing seems to represent a desire for an upgrade over the backs currently on the roster.

Maybe but I consider it more of a different kind of back than an upgrade.

Like a power back who can catch the ball a little.

I don't consider our back-ups to be power back.

Xavier Jones is more of an evasive type running back but goes down when hit.

Jake Funk is a fairly fast back with some power and is always going forward - good receiver as well

Calais - pure speed and good evasiveness in the open field but falls over when a rough wind blows

Murray is a good back, but, isn't he like the main back up to Kamara and also gets a good amount of carries? Why would he be available? Also, IMO the most talented back on that list is Penny, however, he is the most fragile also. A healthy Penny is a really solid back, again, IMO.

I doubt they'll let him go.

He was in tandem with Henderson on the same team during their college career wasn't he?

I also voted no. I'm with many on here... our O-line is the problem, not the RB. I'd love to get a stud RB that would elevate the line around him. Someone with power and break away speed. But nothing like that is available or worth the cost. Our line was suspect last year, and just as suspect this year if not worse

He played HB and WR there, yes.
Wishful thinking on Pollard. He carried the load for them when Elliot was injured and looked very good. He also looks good relieving Elliott in rotation. Dallas would be creating a weakness if they trade Pollard.

We have a RB1 who hasn't been durable his first two seasons. The backups are late round or undrafted guys who haven't played a snap in the regular season. Do I think we need an established RB? IS A PIG'S ASS PORK??!!

I just hate the fact we even have this problem. We all knew the runningback room was injury prone going into the season and just like the OL it was ignored while upgrading the WR room, when we already had a good wr room. Mcvays offense goes through the run game, why he doesn't keep the room stacked with talent is my biggest question. Same with the Ol it makes no sense to me.

I think it's that they only have so many picks and resources in an offseason. You can't upgrade everything. Every team is weak at some positions. They had invested in round 2 a couple years in a row for the RB room. And they prioritized passing game threats with the new QB coming in.

I wanted OL but I get where they were coming from. They didn't want to be cutting what they felt were good players. I don't agree there but not gonna second guess it until I see how this line looks.

I get that to a certain extent but still. A wr (a very small one at that) over the Ol, RB, and LB position just makes me question. Especially since we just drafted one last year and already have a good wr room. Idk man the offense is unstoppable when the run game is going and the oline is top tier. WR would be at the Bottom of the list for me but that's just me. I have zero doubt we'll win a ton of games but the playoffs is what scares me.

Murray hasn't looked great in camp. He has been mentioned by some writers as a potential cut, possibly due to his decline and $3M cap hit. If he's cut for a guy like Freeman though, it makes me doubt he'd be much of an upgrade in LA.
