Very few are suggesting that Van Jefferson is anything less than a decent #3 WR, but he's also one of very few players on our team who might offer some trade value, and this likely being his final year as a Ram since he'll be entering free agency following the upcoming season. The Rams have started us on a new path by creating available CAP space for 2024, and by doing this we have sacrificed many of our former veteran players. Moving another player or two isn't likely to change our 2023 play-off chances, but we can increase next years CAP and add depth to a rather needy roster. jmo.
And at a cool 1.4 mill salary he's pretty darned cap friendly too
Where did I say I'd take Jefferson over Boyd? But you.....you pick out one of the top #3 WRs and ask, "is Jefferson better than Boyd?". Are we gonna get a WR in the draft as good as Boyd? Maybe if we use #36 on that. Hell if we don't use #36, we won't get a WR as good as Jefferson! Is that what you want? Nobody (but you) is talking about Boyd. We're talking about Jefferson and a look around the NFL should tell you few #3's have put up better production than VJ did in 2021. But I guess you think we can do better, despite our true needs at other positions?

Also…what does JAG mean to you?
Still had a chance to put up some big numbers with Kupp out and Robinson losing a step or whatever was going on with him last year. Plus we were behind in a lot of games so we were playing catch up great time to put up stats.
A JAG to me is a Brandon Gibson, Josh Reynolds, Kenny Britt,Gerald Everett type guys

Calling Mike Williams the Chargers #3 is real concise., no that was being totally clueless. Comparing Josh Reynolds stats from last year when he didn't play a full season to Jefferson's stats from 2 years ago is real concise.

You’re the one trying to redefine terms to fit your argument. Don’t whine when someone disagrees and provides an objective explanation.
Third most productive I believe is what he was saying and that's tied to injuries to be concise.
That would be you, what are the "terms". Maybe the mods can pin at the top of the page all your criteria's that AvengerRam requires to make someone a JAG.That way members of the Van Jefferson fan club don't get offended when people aren't only posting positive things about him.

Comparing a guys numbers from last season who played part of the season as the #2 and part of the season as #3 to a guys stats 2 years ago isn't very concise no matter how he spins it

I think a fair way to judge Van last season would be by looking at his numbers with Mayfield, 5 games 13 rec/233 yrds/1 TD. Not earth shattering no doubt, but would equate to 44/792/3 over a full season
I asked you what you meant by JAG (“just a guy”), and you listed several players who have had fairly long careers (significantly longer than average) and one guy (Britt) who once had a 1,000 yard season.
My point is… that’s setting a very high bar to be more than JAG. It’s like you’re eliminating the middle class and defining everyone as either rich or poor.
Right now, Jefferson is due to earn $1.7M for this, the final year of his contract. If he contributes 800+ yards again, that’s a very good value.
Throwing a “JAG” label on him doesn’t change that.
