Where are the McVay fan-boys now? Still ready to flame me for saying he's nothing special? We have been watching the same BS from McVay for several years now. 10 points scored?! What a disaster for an offense with this many weapons. He is a good coach, Maybe even a great one. But he can't win a physical contest. Of course, you need to be able to do that in order to win a Super Bowl. So McVay's flaw is literally fatal, and McVay, for all his other strengths, is rendered useless. A real life Achilles Heelm if you will. Could we find a "better coach" on the open market? Perhaps not. But I bet we could definitely find a coach that, despite all of his faults, could actually find a way to win playoff-style football...

Some very questionable play calls in this one. Fake FG? The predictable TE screen? Passing on 80% of your downs? Try again, boy genius. Maybe after years of "not doing a good enough job to put players in a position to succeed", you'd learn. Or get fired. I don't think McVay's leash is as long as many might think if the Rams keep losing to any physical team the same way. Kronke is spending good money on this club and stadium. McVay convinced him "if only I had Stafford". "If we could just get Von Miller". Sooner or later, Kronker will want answers.

Van Jefferson is a JAG. The loss of Woods is going to be astronomical in the passing game, let alone in the running game where he was a great blocker and invaluable at pre-snap motion. Hopefully, OBJ, once he gets up to speed, can replace some of what Woods brings. But he is no Woods. And is a much more finesse player. Which leads me to...

The Rams have 3 skill players players on offense that are truly capable of excelling in a physical contest. Kupp, Akers, and Woods. Two of those are out for the year. You tell me where that leaves the Rams' Super Bowl aspirations. I think Michel could also be decent. But'll never see the field before a game is already out of reach, because McVay is too soft to go with his running style.

Morris is brutal. He'll be gone next year. I am not sure I agree with the "just put Ramsey on Samuel!!!" crowd, though. If he did that, and they completed a pass to Kittle, then the narrative would be "how can you not just put Ramsey on Kittle?!". Ramsey is our only defensive back capable of stopping a physical player. The 49ers have lots of those. Kittle. Samuel. Aiyuk. We were toast from the get-go. We'll continue to be toast any time we face a team with big, physical weapons.

Hekker is no longer a weapon. He now has as many poor kicks as he does good ones. He's not bad, per se. But it's time to move on. Better a year early than late. He's no longer an asset.

Stafford has been very underwhelming. It's definitely a cause for concern, especially as his reputation is to shrink in big games. But I am not going to push the panic button yet. Our last two losses - in which Stafford played poorly, no doubt - were against very physical teams. I think the problem is more so McVay's crappy, finesse system more so than it is the QB playing in it. The sample size is just to large at this point.

So many drops today. Higbee was poor.

The poor depth on this team is showing on D.

I could keep going... but I'm now vented out...
Great post sir in every facet.

McVays Response to tonights game:

I don’t know if I already told you guys for the 5th time, but we need to do better against this team…We just need to do better. Yet we fail to win against this team time after time. It is all on me once again and I take full blame for todays lost.
We run out the same game plan we always do, they run out the same plays they always do and we always lose. It's a real head scratcher?

McVay - red zone play calling again ass...
Stafford - too many high misses
Jefferson - dropped two big plays
Higbee - drop that caused an int and big 3rd down drop...
Kupp - bad drop on 3rd down

Defense - ran the fuck over in the 1st half...

All around a lot of shit sandwiches for people to eat...
Yes. 1st and goal fake the run. He always run 1st and goal or he goes empty so no threat of run. For a smart guy. He sure doesn't learn from his mistakes.

Could we find a better coach on the open market? Fuck no. We have a coach who has zero losing seasons and will soon have five playoff appearances in six years. His regular season winning percentage is just under 70%, and he's 3-3 in the playoffs. So be angry about the shitty performance today, but don't get it twisted. We're fucking blessed to have McVay coaching this team.

Well, since they don't have high picks next yr, they can still go out and change this offense a bit and draft a top caliber FB in the 5th or 6th round and maybe a power back in the middle rounds.

Adding that dimension to the offense will do wonders. McVay needs to have a different look to throw at teams when the pretty stuff isn't working and you can get quality guys to fill those roles in those middle rounds.

Throw in more OL depth and another DT as well. Need to get bigger and more physical.

We look like an AFC team of the 80's, that gets pushed around by physical NFC teams.

Might not be too pretty in GB in a couple weeks either.

Maybe McVay is paying Kyle Shanahan back for all the help he gave him early in his career by laying eggs to help Shanny keep his job. ;)

Give it time Jrry. He will soon be even with W/L ratio. He has been compromised bottomline, and he is to stubborn to fix it.

He's never beaten a physical team with comparable talent to the Rams. Even those with much lesser talent, he often fails to beat (see: NYG recently). Until I see something different out of him, I suspect he never will beat a physical team with roughly similar talent. You need to do that to win a Super Bowl. Some other team can go get "blessed" by his coaching as far as I am concerned. I am not saying replace him with just anybody. But I definitely think some "lesser" minds would be much better positioned to take a team to a Super Bowl.

I don't think the Rams have ever rallied from a 2 score deficit on his watch, either. But I could be wrong on that. Maybe some fact-checkers can chime in. If I am right... again.... finesse...

Agree...he is young and he needs to adjust. He has to know teams know what he is going to do and he needs to make some major tweaks to his scheme to get more physical. Might need to get a little tougher in practice too.

That 18' Dallas playoff game is what I want. Maybe not that run heavy, but to have the ability to do that when needed.

I agree with this. I see McVay has reached his ceiling. He absolutely will not change his ways and after we have 10 seasons of winning football, but never a Superbowl, the fans will want him out.

Buffalo last yr. His offense rebounded to take the lead late, the D just gave it up.

Still don’t have an ILB that can stuff the run , and won’t next year either with no draft picks.
You’d have to be pretty optimistic to think two weeks to prepare for GB will make a difference. Rodgers will shred this defenseless bunch.
Plus McVay knows exactly what the 49ers will do , and had no answers. Stafford is playing like he’s still a Lion and AD has been invisible. There’s no switch that’s going on with this bunch. Probably make a wild card appearance.
Then watch Whitworth , Miller and OBJ move on. Plus watch 31 other teams get better in the draft.
Very concerning to say the least.

Nah. This is a PUBLIC forum. You posted something in that PUBLIC forum. And I commented?
Wow, what a dumb response. You told me to root for another team because you can't handle the fact your team sucks right now so you do what people like you always do.....you go after something other than what's responsible. I would tell you to go somewhere and do something with your mother, but hey....like you said, its a public forum right?

We have plenty of draft picks next year. Just none until the comp round in the 3rd.

Remember when McVay used to stress the offense was built around the run? Those were good times.

Coming into this game Stafford was number one in tds, yards and passer rating so let's pump the brakes on his demise.

It's obvious that the niners play calling was better. Kyle was patient and kept doing what the defense was letting him do. That's on the rams coaches.

Lot of blame to go around but this one is mostly on the coaches.
