I certainly didn't want him to go to Seattle but I'm not going to go crazy about it. He's one player. A good one - yes. But he can also look like a house on fire one minute and then a fading ember the next. He will likely be a very good player for them and we will simply need to take him out of the game like we did the last time we played the Texans.

Clowney hasn’t lived up to the hype. Dude hasn’t even had double-digit sacks in a season.
Your best ability is your availability’ would land Clowney somewhere on the bottom of the ability scale. Low production and always hurt.

Uhhhh, I hate to break it to you, but by any objective metric, he's absolutely a top 10 3-4 OLB. Sacks aren't the only thing that matters, and that's never been his game. Look up tackles for a loss (which I believe he led the league in over the last period of time) and QB pressures. Watt gets all the attention from fans because of the sack numbers, but it's been Clowney who's consistently making sure the running back doesn't get anywhere, all while being double teamed every play.

Also, "always hurt"? You must be one of those "he's missed 20 games in 5 years" people, ignoring that 14 of those were his rookie year. In the 4 years since, he missed 3, 2, 0 and 1 game. That's not "always hurt"

Should I then say you must be one of those people who think he's not hurt if he played in a game? If he played the first quarter and missed the rest he played a game but he's not healthy. Yes he's been more healthy the last year or two than early in his career. Doesn't mean he hasn't had injury problems.

There's more to injuries than number of games. Being dinged up and missing plays also matter. FWIW, he was 6th on the Texans' defense in number of plays, even though he was playing a position that should be out there on both passing and running downs. Not horrible last season, but not something to point at as evidence of his toughness and healthiness, either.

By that metric, everybody in the league is "always hurt". If he was as productive as he's been while hurt, then you just bolster the argument that he's a top tier player, because he's incredibly productive either way. Sorry, but that's fanboyism to try and cling to the "always hurt" thing. If missing 1 game out of the last 32 is "always hurt", then there's a leaguewide epidemic.

I don't see Clowney play much. Against the Rams, he was a one-man wrecking crew early in the game in 2017. Then he didn't seem to do much but, the Rams pulled ahead and I was not focused on him.

Like PPF or not here is their take on him. Seems reasonable. Very good but,
not a great pass rusher. Shines against the run. Any way you slice it the Hags got better. I can't underestimate his value, especially in a contract year.

It’s a good pickup for that shit stain of a team. It cost them very little. Low risk, high reward type of signing. He’s a very good player. Not an AD, “take over a game type.” But a good addition for them nonetheless.

I still don’t think they're near capable of unseating us. It’s our division...and conference...to lose, and the addition of Clowney won’t change that.

Also...how sad was that of the Texans. They essentially traded Clowney for a 3rd. That’s truly pathetic.

How much will it affect him now that the Seahawks runs 4-3 defense to the Texans 34 D? Will JC be better to less so?

Many times JC went head up on the TE @ the LOS when JC was playing OLB'er for the Texans.....chances now he will go head up on a regular basis in four games this season with bona fide starting veteran LT's in LA (Whitworth) & SF (Stanley).

I also read he was demanding $140 plus million 5 yr contract if so good luck.

Seattle makes the phone call:

"So I got this deal, right. We send you a turd rounder, all-barkevious-no-bite Mingo, and a nudder guy. Dat's three guys!...…. All you gotta do is send us the Clown. We got a deal?"

Meanwhile, in Houston:

"So if I'm hearing you right, we get THREE guys! and you only get one?!!! (covers the business end of the banana, eyes get real big and looks at the owner....) you got a deal, my friend!"

His one and only dominant year. Harvey year and both JJ Watt and Whitney Mercilus went down. He kinda had to amp it up.

Then last year wasn't nearly as impactful. The Texans are all about JJ, Deshaun, and Nuje Hopkins.
