Jadeveon Clowney is a very good but not elite DE, who expects to be paid like an elite player. Don't believe me? Go ahead and look at his production. He's never posted more than 9.5 sacks in a year and that was in 2017. That is good production but hardly elite. He's not even close to being the elite player that AD is.

The Hawks have him on basically a one year deal. After paying Wilson, they will break the bank overpaying him. There isn't going to be enough money to build a defense around him. They will have to draft to fill in the holes and keep them filled and the Hawks don't draft nearly as well as the Rams.

IMO they simply replaced Clark with a higher cost version, but not a better player. This is the mark of a team that is desperate to overtake the Rams in the same way AZ went all-in on a dangerous gamble with Kiffnotes and the kid. What is totally absurd is that Seattle traded Clark a very good DE against the pass and run for a 1st round pick they used on LJ Collier, DE. What makes no sense is that Collier is strictly a two down DE with very little ability to rush the QB. He's stiff, slow and has a poor first step. This Clowney trade IMO is an admission they made a huge mistake and the Browns are laughing. I think this TC and preseason showed what everyone knew that Collier can't rush the passer.

Houston won their division 3 of the 5 years they had Clowney but never advanced beyond the divisional round. Does that tell you something? What it says is that it takes more than a single player, you need an elite team. IMO when Seattle gets through paying for both Wilson and Clowney the cap impact of those contracts are going to hinder Seattle's ability to keep other players. Clowney will have all the leverage in the world next year against Seattle. What happens if they get outbid?

Personally, I think Fowler is capable of posting similar production numbers in Wade's system. Seattle realizes they made a mistake trading away Frank Clark. Clark is basically the same age as Clowney but has posted better production. They traded Clark and a 3rd round pick, and now they have traded two players and another 3rd round pick for a one-year rental deal and will have to outbid other desperate teams next year. If Clark who has played better in his career couldn't get Seattle to a Super Bowl, how is Clowney going to? It's obvious Clowney is all about the money. I'm glad the Rams were smart enough to stay away from that circus.

OK Les, time to do your magic to counter this move.

Hasnt JC been injured every season since he was drafted? An injury prone DL that wants to break the bank is just what seattle needs to get them to and keep them in cap hell.

Former Seahawk Frank Clark signed a 5 year, $104,000,000 contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, including a $19,000,000 signing bonus, $62,305,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $20,800,000.

What will Seattle pay Clowney long term ?

I'm sorry but [Clark and Clowney aren't worth that kind of money]. What happens to KC when in 2021 Mahomes wants a new contract? Are they really willing to spend over $50-$60M a year on two players?

Overrated ass clown. Not to worried about him being a shecock. Hell only take up some of their cap space more than contributing.

I'm sorry about the above post in that it should have read, that Clark and Clowney aren't worth that kind of money. I think I need a new computer, this one doesn't speak English well. I think it's basically fluent in Taiwanese.

But all this said, it just means the #1 rival in the NFCW is in disarray. That they are desperate and making stupid moves.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see the Niners take 2nd place this year.

Seattle hasn't won a playoff game since beating the Lions in '16.
I'm thinking this could be the year they bow out of the postseason. They've managed to stay relevant but the trend is clear.

Seahawks roster looks completely different now. Their secondary is a big question mark and with a lack of pass rush, that defense would only be kept league average by Wagner.

Now their front 7 looks amazing. Secondary still a question mark but with some breaks, they could have a top 10 defense.

I doubt we beat them this year it we allow 200 yards rushing

So they will either let him and go after the year and the trade becomes a wash, OR they pay him like Aaron Donald and Khalil Mack.

Either way, Houston may have traded him away but won't have to deal with this lunacy. Lower picks aside, (honestly a 3rd round pick for a guy that dominate like he's supposed to isn't bad), they are now able to secure their future that's currently on the roster.

Also...the JJ Watt/Jadaveon Clowney duo was supposed to be scary good. Like the best in the league good. But it never happened. JJ Watt did his part, with a fucked up back and broken leg. Jadaveon Clowney??? Hello???
