Word is, Saffold was convinced to sign during his secret negotiations on the landing strip during his layover at Missoula Intl.

Massive loss for the Rams.

I honestly expect a big drop in offensive production this year. Then we lose Whitworth next year.

Why is Groy in that list?
Just another example of a second-tier lineman that they wanted that turned out to be pretty good.

Though Whitworth was not second-tier, but your left tackle should never be second tier.

Good luck to Saffold, he was a good player for the Rams.
Dont blame the Rams for allowing him to move on, those 3rd contracts rarely work out,

Not as strong

True - but Noteboom should be adding strength. It's fairly normal for OL to add strength their first few years in the league. It's also normal for athletes in their 30s to lose strength, albeit slowly.

@payote75 slide in Noteboom and draft Staffold's replacement in the 3rd rd. problem solved

Eh a 3rd is probably not going to turn into Saffold, it's rare that it works out that way.

Coaches must believe one of the younger guys is ready to step up, I hope so because Belichick exposed the offense and now there are blueprints on how to attack Goff.

The exposure of the O was based on the TE. So McVay can alter things. He let the O get mundane based on superior talent and got himself schooled by a superior coach.

I think hes worth every penny of 11mill.

I would have paid it too.

But what this tells me is they feel like they have talent already on the roster and want to devote the money that would have gone to Saffold to another FA or two. Probably on defense.

I know Roger went for the money but I can’t imagine that he will be all that happy come training camp.

LOL he will be happy each and every time he grabs his phone and opens his bank app.

I’m taking money from this and adding Groy and Danny Shelton. Add some veteran depth behind Allen and Noteboom and solidifying our DLine.

I would file this comment under "Easier said than done."

That said, we are going to have to make some tough choices, this was one of them. I'm good with it.

Wait until Goff needs to get paid...

This is what great coaching staffs do. They replace good players. It's what all great teams have to do. If Kromer and McVay are as great as I think they are, we'll be just fine. It's like the Patriots. Their OL Coach is so great at his job that they replace good players every year with little regression.

God, I hate Taylor Lewan.

He's a piece of human garbage.

Not as strong

That is true. Saffold is better at the POA, but I thought we were talking blocking on the second level and on the move?

Another reason aside from the money, could be Saffold is from Ohio. He's very close to home now.
