I'm not ready to not be 100 percent confident in what is the heart the engine of this team even when defense sucked we knew we had a shot of out scoring people if these guys aren't ready the impact goes beyond just wins losses points no points etc it goes to can our question mark injured running back find the holes to do his thing and we speak of wear and tear on Gurley I'm thinking losing Saffold isn't going to do Gurley any favors. Moving on to biggest concern Goff.....can he will he progress well fingers crossed cause under duress he has a lot to prove let alone if he is hit on most plays that would be most detrimental to this franchise and set us back again. The line must have the gas it's the engine that drives this team.

Anyone thing tj Lang could be had at a very reasonable deal no comp he was cut and even though he is often injured our tearing staff is awesome and I'd rather groom youngsters a little at a time but have a Lang in there the guy when healthy is very good.

Wow, he was the last player from the Spags regime. Best of luck to him, I hope the O-line will stay top-tier with whoever we replace him with.

I'm guessing Noteboom will take his place or we'll draft a new guard

What did we all think Saffold would be worth at a discount???? I mean 11 million if he was sincere about a discount we could figure a way to give him 9.5/10 million.
$10 million in CA is really $8.8m in (non-tax) Tennessee. In a state with 12.3% income tax, matching Tenn's offer would be a home town discount.

Bring in TJ Lang if the $ isn't high, and see if he can beat out Noteboom, though I don't foresee that happening. But the depth would be great and allow more draft day flexibility

Sad day for me. I think this will have a negative affect on the offense. Noteboom nor Allen will be able to do what Roger did downfield.

I know Roger went for the money but I can’t imagine that he will be all that happy come training camp.

Damn. Saffold has been very good (exceptional at times) for a long while. Definitely a favourite player.

That said...

I would have paid him $10MM this year, but that’s a big contract for the next 4yrs. While Saffold has been healthy of late, I definitely worry about his injury history, over the duration of any deal.

Rams had no choice but to pass at that level.

I like your enthusiasm and knowledge, but lets be real, do you really see any of those guys being as dominate as Saffold? We can all agree that our Oline was our strength, but now its a question mark at the moment. I dont think we should expect to start right where we left off with 3 new starters on our oline.
Dominant. She was dominant in the bedroom.

Dominate. He tried to dominate her, but it was no use.

One thing not mentioned (or that I haven't seen at least) is that while Noteboom might not be as good as Saffold this coming year, a year of starting will help make him better for when he replaces Whit, likely in 2020. So Saffold leaving saves money, will net a pick, and should make Noteboom better in the long run.

This one bums me out man. I really liked Saffold a lot. He is such a stand up guy. I really wanted to see him win a ring with us. We lost a real good guy Good luck Saffold....you will be missed.

ouch.

Here's hoping Boom can capably play LG while Allen & Blythe fill in for C & RG. (and hoping Blythe figures out why he was getting man-handled in the post-season... rookie wall?)
Unless we get Groy or some other studly C / RG, I'm believing the Rams now target a beastly 1st round OG at #31. Would've loved a stud OLB or ILB or NT, but it is what it is.

I will miss him but this is part of the business. Players come and go.

Free agency is just getting started and I'm sure we will sign a couple more players that will make us feel good again. We will draft some talented college kids full of potential and wait for them to be ready to take over.

think of this as Kromer holding up Noteboom...
