This one bums me out man. I really liked Saffold a lot. He is such a stand up guy. I really wanted to see him win a ring with us. We lost a real good guy Good luck Saffold....you will be missed.
Hey MarkyMark—Thanks for the GOOD VIBRATIONS! I agree with you.

Damn. Saffold has been very good (exceptional at times) for a long while. Definitely a favourite player.

That said...

I would have paid him $10MM this year, but that’s a big contract for the next 4yrs. While Saffold has been healthy of late, I definitely worry about his injury history, over the duration of any deal.

Rams had no choice but to pass at that level.

Last I read, only $22 Million is guaranteed. Rams could have matched the deal if they really wanted to. They are fine going with Noteboom and using the money elsewhere.

Well first off best of luck to Saff and family in Tennessee. Always liked him, even after he tried to leave the first time to ruin his future in Oakland lol. Now he's succeeded in choosing a nice contract in a place where IMO they're not going to win enough to make him happy.

He will regret this decision. But again fair winds and following seas to Big Rog.

Reality is it would have been better if Whitworth retired, then Saffold could have been re-signed.

I think Noteboom is a better fit at LT than LG. Would like to see a little more beef and power at OG as I see Noteboom as more of a finese guy.

So now I expect to definitely see an OG being picked as early as the 3rd round, maybe the 4th since OG's slide.

If the Rams agreed with you that's what they would have done Philly. Noteboom might not be the future LT so many of us think he is. Just like with Saff, maybe his future is inside.

IMO you gotta be really careful with LT. Goff's still a young QB and he doesn't need to be lookin over his left shoulder.

I concur.

I felt all along that their plan was one or the other. Issue is with Whitworth we can't release him - he's too good and too good a leader both on and off the field.

Saffold for multiple years with a little more cap space or Whitworth - I'd have taken Saffold for the additional years and the few million in cap space.

First and foremost...shout out to saffold, from all accounts he was a great locker room guy and was a very productive ram. Cant knock the guy for taking a pay day that likely far exceeds what we could have offered. wish him nothing but the best.

that being said, im not worried at all...we have sean mcvays system and les sneads drafting over the course of their tenure with the rams will we see many "big names" depart and we will replace them with relative unknowns who will play well just like the pats have been doing for years. our coach is that good. our system is that good. our gm is that good.

This is what great coaching staffs do. They replace good players. It's what all great teams have to do. If Kromer and McVay are as great as I think they are, we'll be just fine. It's like the Patriots. Their OL Coach is so great at his job that they replace good players every year with little regression.

He's a piece of human garbage.

That is true. Saffold is better at the POA, but I thought we were talking blocking on the second level and on the move?

To get to the second level you have to win at the point of attack.

Bummer.
I really, really loved Saffold.
The best Ram O lineman for years on bad teams. He was best OL last year.
Hate to see him leave.
Glad he got to win with Rams and win the NFC before he left.
Stay healthy Roger!!

I’m taking money from this and adding Groy and Danny Shelton. Add some veteran depth behind Allen and Noteboom and solidifying our DLine.

Agreed .....Add nick perry and trade for Zach brown and I would be able to breath a bit better

What other option do they have as of right now? Noteboom is the best OL available so they are penciling him in at LG for now.

So they have yet to show us where they feel he is a better fit unless you expected them to release Whitworth.
