Dont like this at all. Saffold was a staple to our oline and now our oline is looking thinner and less experienced. Im happy whitworth is staying, but he was dropping off at the end of the season, if he does that again and Noteboom has to take Whits spot, who plays guard?
Depends on what changes Kromer will be forced to work over.

Kromer has former college three yr starting left OT now LG/RG Jamil Demby who was drafted on the 3rd day of the 2018 draft. JD is about the same size as Saffold being 6-5 320/325 lbs. He does have some power to him.

Kromer could start Austin Blythe there again he has done that before. Blythe has played 3 NFL seasons with 40 gms of experience & 21 starts. As a rookie in 2016 for the Colts, he had starts @ RT & center. With the Rams in 2017, he had 1 start @ LG & finished 2 or 3 gms @ center for Sullivan. Kromer would prefer to have some experience starting on that blind side.

Then there is UDFA Aaron Neary LG/RG/OC who has been here since Kromer arrived. Neary has been thru some rough times but it's obvious that Kromer likes what he see's in this 6-4 305 pounder. Neary is also a former teammate of Ebukam & Kupp. Neary has started 1 gm back in 2017 @ center.

Finally, there is Darrell Williams Jr. 6-6/315 RG/RT who landed here last season on the PS. Kromer had DW here in early April 2017 but it took a while before Kromer could get him under contract with him.

Well, would have been nice to keep him but it's not the end of the world. Draft well for the future this year and we should be fine. OL just shot up the list as a need to join DL and LB.

I like your enthusiasm and knowledge, but lets be real, do you really see any of those guys being as dominate as Saffold? We can all agree that our Oline was our strength, but now its a question mark at the moment. I dont think we should expect to start right where we left off with 3 new starters on our oline.

I dont like this at all.
Our offense is just average without a dominant line.

So what you’re saying is our backups are Aaron Neary and Darrell Williams. Doesn’t exactly instill confidence in me. Our depth by the time OTA’s start better change, or we’re in for a long season. You just know that the Rams are playing with fire here.

My question now with Saffold gone is, where will the leadership on the Oline come from once Whitworth retires.

Get use to it;). It's a new Ram world where we are going(y).Sit back & enjoy the ride.

Snead is a good Commode to have in this fight. His finance wizard Demoff can count past 10 & has a printing press mint. His ultra smart young general McVay is as resourceful as there is & will learn to get better. Wade is the old-time adviser full of a century's worth of wisdom. Rams will be just fine. Expect to hit some potholes from time to time & carry a spare in the locker room.:)

I'm fine with Saffold leaving. This happens to the Patriots all the time and they plug in a wide body and coach it up. Rams need to do the same.

Oline is about the sum of its parts. Not as big a loss on the field as it will be for the organization off of it imo. Noteboom looked really good last year anyway.

Sometimes the hardest decisions are the best ones. Need to add youth. We can still add a mid grade vet, or surprise and take a OL w/ 31st pick... Think Wynn last season folks for the Pasty's

I think this shows a lot of faith in Noteboom.

It was my final number for Rodger that the Rams could have matched if they wanted to. Overall, I think it's a good move. They need defensive replacements and can use the money for defense and CJ Anderson.

This is always hard when you have a long time Rams player that is let go while still on top of his game. Rodger was a good Ram that will be missed.

Well...O thought it would be so...but I can't blame the guy. He gave the Rams all he had! Hopefully he comes back on a contract later to retire a Ram.

All the best to Saffold!!!

Enter Noteboom.

Both Noteboom & Allen getting a full off season on weight training and OTA's, paired w/ lots of snaps in practice last season should be ready for prime time this coming season. Just need to add a few good depth guys to insure the drop off isn't a season ender for us!

I believe this in in the forefront for many if us.
Our knowledge of how capable they are is minimal at this point, however.
Replacing Saffold? Those are some big shoes to fill.
