Refs cost us this year. Pisses me off as we now have to win 4 more.

I'm sick of the Same Old Sorry Ass Refs screwed us bullshit. Just STOP it or take it somewhere else.

Crying about the refs is a losers mentality.

"The Steelers loss was because of the refs" is the stupidest thing to say about that game. It's just fucking stupid. Fucking. Stupid.

Because USUALLY when a teams offense scores 3 points, goes 1-14 on 3rd down conversions and turns the ball over FOUR times they win decisively right???? It happens all the time right?????

Simply put the Rams had that game in hand until the refs fucked them out of it right?????

Yeah of course. It was the refs.

This type of whiney shit isn't good for the board. Just stop. Bad calls happen to every team.

And every whiney fan of every team in every sport takes to the internet to post that it's a conspiracy when their teams gets beaten. Close game or blowout, it never fails. The sport doesn't matter. A well played game or badly played game doesn't matter. It was the refs.

Had to tell you to chill on this one.... I like a lot of your posts, but this one is over the top. I generally am not buying the conspiracy theories of course, but the poor officiating in the NFL is a crap shoot that can cost you, and the idea that is "somehow evens out," is another fallacy

You really really seem to think you have the moral high ground on this one... so are coming hard with words lie "fuck. stupid and whiney shit."

Honestly you don't.

Incompetence is incompetence, and people have the right to criticize it.

I'd say McVay cost the Rams more than the refs with his play calling. Who can forget the Steeler game?...GEEZE!

The Rams should be 8-4 right now!

What you and others are claiming is fallacy and fabrication. It's supposition and horrible speculation.

The sheer number of people that would have to be involved for refs to throw games is so large that it would have leaked out. How many fired/terminated/released refs would have blown the whistle and gotten a kings ransom for a tell all book and interviews if there was even a SLIVER of truth to this horseshit.

It permeates way to much of the discussions about the team.

And I will tell you this. IMO it's a cheap cop out to say the refs rig games and favor teams.

Essentially this narrative of claiming that NFL refs are dishonest and are lying is pretty lowbrow as far as I am concerned.

Refs make mistakes and always have.

Every fan base has fans whining and bitching about how the refs are out to get their team. I find it annoying and I'm not claiming any moral high ground out all. I'm calling bullshit where there is bullshit.

This thread has done nothing but confuse me. Are we talking about bad refs or bad Zuerlein? Did this thread get combined with another somewhere down the line?

...

OK, I've refrained from responding to anything LesBaker has thrown out there, because it always seems bitter and confrontational. Not to mention flat out wrong..

But when in the span of a few sentences I'm told that my opinion is stupid, fucking stupid, dumbest thing ever written and told to "take it somewhere else", well shit.

I believe my statement that refs cost us the Steelers and Seahawks game can be backed by video evidence. If these calls had gone the way they should have, we win those games. Long before GZ misses a FG, or Reynolds is tackled in the end zone. How much evidence can you provide to the contrary? Thought so. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

Tell me this a loser's mentality all you want. I think burying my head in the sand so deep as to speak Chinese is worse. I agree players shouldn't feel this way. And coaches should make sure they don't feel this way because it negatively impacts performance. But what coaches say behind closed doors, or what I say as a diehard fan? I think stating facts is a pretty good mentality to have.

To summarize things I think (as opposed to things attributed to me):
  • The refs blown calls cost us the Steelers and Seahawks games
  • The right calls in those games and we're 9-3 and looking much better playoff-wise
  • Better play by us (coaching, QB, OL, defense, etc) would have made this a moot point
  • Losing the game specifically due to bad calls, and the fact that they might have been won with better coaching, QB, OL, defense, etc ARE NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE
  • This is not a conspiracy, this is bad luck and this thread was meant to voice my frustration about this FACT WE'VE HAD BAD CALLS that have put us in this position
  • One last time, had we played better, we could/should have still won a few of these games
Oh, and since you often resort to calling my opinion dumb, stupid, and fucking dumb, fucking stupid, I will ask you to kindly STFU. Hear this from my wife, don't need to hear it from you too.

If we want to have a rational discussion on whether any team has been screwed over, it has to start with rewatching every play from the all 22 and watching with someone that's not biased, then calculating the total number of missed calls for both teams.

Which is a lot all to say that I disagree with your assessment. And I don't believe the Reynolds play was PI at the end of the Steelers game.

Bad calls happen in EVERY sport and in EVERY game.

We can have conversations about refs making mistakes all day, I think it's fair conversation. But blaming losses on the NFL and refs fixing outcomes is pure triple distilled bullshit without a single iota of evidence to back it up.

Evidence has a short lifespan in the NFL.

And fans never complain when a call goes their way.

Evidence for that is the missed call against the Saints. The Saints fans complaining were called whiny bitches, sore losers and plenty of other stuff.

Sometimes your the windshield sometimes your the bug.

Well I agree with you about the conspiracy theory... but your post seemed to be encompassing any complaining about officials causing defeat. I've officiated in the past - and I saw incompetence from a certain co-official I worked with in basketball cost many teams lossess.

I never once stated there was a conspiracy but I have to say there sure have been a lot of bad calls that have gone against us. I think subconsciously they might be leaning toward the other team because of last year and not even realize they are doing this.

Call bullshit on this but man does it seem like something is going on.

And tell me that the Patriots don't get every "important" call to go their way. I stress important because I have seen calls go against the Patriots but never in a game changing manner.

I will say that I fully support having full time referees.

This is the only thing the NFL can do to appease most of the fans about how bad the refs have been this year and in past years.

If they still make mistakes - well then all we can do is say fire the guy and find someone new.

Officials make mistakes.

It's not going to change.

But we agree on that and that there is no conspiracy.

Call bullshit on this but man does it seem like something is going on.

If you think something is going on doesn't that mean you think there is an effort to fix games?

And tell me that the Patriots don't get every "important" call to go their way. I stress important because I have seen calls go against the Patriots but never in a game changing manner.

Ok I will tell you that the Patriots don't have every important call going their way.

The NFL was on the way to leveraging the refs union some years ago. The media was constantly clamoring about how bad the replacement refs were doing. Then there was the Hail Mary pass in a game where the call was questionable and it ramped up big time.

The media and fan pressure was HUGE and the NFL caved in the negotiations to protect the image.

Even though there was proof that the replacements weren't really that bad or worse the NFL gave up the fight.

The next time around they won't, I'm sure of that.

Prove it. Every fricken Patriot game I have watched has shown almost every IMPORTANT 50-50 call (or even worse, bad call) going their way. I would say at least 90% of these type of calls go their way. And it goes all the way back to the intentional grounding in 2001 Super Bowl.

I don't know how anyone can honestly blame anyone but the Rams for the Pittsburgh loss.
My goodness, how lucky were the Rams in the 1st place? Gift td with Fowler fumble 6 gave the Rams a 7-0 lead.
So remove each gift TD and Pittsburgh wins 10-5
And Pittsburgh called for 13 penalties in the game. 13! So I have a hard time seeing where the refs were "on their side"

What's next? If Baltimore gets called for PI on Kupp in Rams 1st drive, they beat the Ravens??

The fumble they called on Goff - I've literally seen that same thing happen 5 times since, and every time its been called incomplete.

If not for that bullshit call we win that game. That call actually may be the difference between the playoffs and not.
This is silliness.
