Refs cost us this year. Pisses me off as we now have to win 4 more.

If we can get him for cheap, I'd be okay keeping him.

But he's lost us probably two games total this year - 40-49 in the NFL should be made 90% of the time, and he's not close to that this year. We really can't afford to pay a kicker or punter more than $1 million per year - I'd dump both him and Hekker as soon as we can to better allocate that money.

Refs didn't cost us anything in the Seahawks game.

Sorry, but you're wrong.

On two occasions (key downs by the way), the refs called the Rams for late hits on RW that were clearly NOT LATE. Even the Seahawks fans sitting by me admitted these were bad calls. It made it much worse when later in the game, Goff was clearly hit late AND IN HIS FACEMASK, and no call. The fans around me were laughing at these calls until we marched down the field for what should have been the winning kick.

Anyone who thinks this game was fair was not at the game, nor watching very closely.

Anyone who thinks the refs are NOT the reason why the Rams are likely to miss the playoffs has not been watching the games. Fixed it for you.

Just because you could argue that if we played better, it wouldn't matter, doesn't mean you throw away the bad calls. These things are not mutually exclusive.

Yes, we could have played better and won anyway (see yesterday's game). But we'd be 9-3 with even average officiating.

Zuerline is a stud. I'll take his misses over the rest of the garbage out there unless we can get Justin Tucker.... Lol.

The intentional grounding call was befuddling to say the least, along with Mike P's explanantion of why they called it.

As I said in the GDT, every throw out of the end zone can be considered IG unless a WR is sitting in the stands

Did you check to see if we got any calls our way that there shouldn't have been?

I hate when fans say this type of stuff. I'm sure there were some that went our way too.

And those are usually with pressure in QB’s face!

Goff had no pressure at all. Perplexing.

But if this call would have cost us the game, we’d still have folks saying it’s not a reason...

Sorry no can do. I'll forever be grateful to him for the kicks in New Orleans.

But he literally cost us this season. If that FG goes in at Seattle, we're 8-4 and Seattle is 9-3 - regardless of what happens tonight, with a win next week we'd be in the drivers seat. If the Vikings win tonight and we beat Seattle next week, we basically end their season.

This doesn't even mention the Pittsburgh debacle. Yes, it was a long FG that he missed before half - but if he makes it, we're in FG range late and we win the game instead of Goff throwing a desperation endzone pass to Reynolds.

With one missed kick, the Seahawks could go from potential one seed to out of the playoffs. Considering that it was an extremely make-able kick, I can't let it go.

I know I am somewhat biased but I very rarely see calls go our way.

I saw one yesterday where Goff got hit at the ankle and was called a roughing the passer penalty.

But that was the only call that I saw go our way. And I still think we might have gotten a TD on the next play if McVay had called the pass to the TE on the next play instead of the second play.

Every other call went the Cardinals way:

Two holding calls on Edwards
The roughing the passer penalty on Obo where he bumped his face mask with the QB's helmet (and I want to emphasize BUMP)
The Grounding call on Goff

I am not going to bitch about the PI call on NRC because he was holding Fitz's arm but I have seen very few non PI's overturned to a PI this year. Coincidence that one was against the Rams - maybe.

Yes that one sucked but I have seen too many other kickers miss more this year other than Tucker. Zuerlein is the second best kicker in the league imho.

IMO, NFL Officiating has always been sub par and if your team is good, you can overcome the calls, if not, they eat away at you. The Non call against the Saints, I felt justified for being hosed for a number of years and I do think the NFL overreacted.

I'm a big boy, I can take it, but it seems the Patriots get more calls their way then other teams, but maybe that will start to even out.

The one that still baffles me is the fumble call on Goff . It happened right in front of me and not for one second did I think it was anything but a forward pass . Neither did the Steeler fans . They never showed the replay at the game , so I thought I missed something. I saw it 20 times since and it's still a forward pass to me . Rudolph had 2 or 3 that were a lot closer to a fumble. That was a killer right before the half , and probably took a victory away .

No way they call intentional grounding on Brady like they did Goff . I've seen that same throw not called 100 times .

Watching the SNF game last night...both Brady and Watson had a similar situation and no flag was thrown...I was yelling at the tv (as usual)

Should have called Intentional Grounding on Brady in the Super Bowl in 2002, but that's another story.

I don't think that, and I don't think a majority of posters do. But knowing that we have shot ourselves in the foot numerous times is not mutually exclusive with the refs shading the close calls in one direction and generally being crappy toward us.

I've always wondered about that as well. The further you are away, the less the angle. Also, kickers seem to kick with different vertical launch angle depending on distance.
So maybe the force they kick with over 50 and under 40 is always the same, and they have to vary it between the 40 and 49 yard distances.
