Refs cost us this year. Pisses me off as we now have to win 4 more.

Sorry no can do. I'll forever be grateful to him for the kicks in New Orleans.

But he literally cost us this season. If that FG goes in at Seattle, we're 8-4 and Seattle is 9-3 - regardless of what happens tonight, with a win next week we'd be in the drivers seat. If the Vikings win tonight and we beat Seattle next week, we basically end their season.

This doesn't even mention the Pittsburgh debacle. Yes, it was a long FG that he missed before half - but if he makes it, we're in FG range late and we win the game instead of Goff throwing a desperation endzone pass to Reynolds.

With one missed kick, the Seahawks could go from potential one seed to out of the playoffs. Considering that it was an extremely make-able kick, I can't let it go.

Come on man. Why pick on the kicker because his mistake is in the most obvious spot? What about the literally dozens of missed blocks, errant throws, WR drops or whiffed tackles that the rams have had this season can have as big an impact in a tight game?

It's the same with blaming the refs. They make head scratching calls every week against every team. The best teams are the ones that are good enough to overcome stuff like that.

Blame our kicker who won't be here next year, likely because of that missed kick.

Yea, it cost us against the Steelers. It happens. We still could have won in spite of the refs.

In fact - that one is on our kicker too. If he makes the kick before half, we're in FG range at the end of the game to win it.
FrantikRam,
You make some good points but you can bet your bottom dollar that one Greg Zeurlein will be back next year.

Count on it......

I've said it till I am blue in the face, "they all suck", and it makes the games hard to watch. Unlike everyone else in this country they are not held accountable for poor job performance. This apparently will never change as long as they keep using the human element argument. At some point, I may get so disgusted that I stop watching the games, before I have a stroke.

The rams tried but a beautifully thrown ball on 4th down to Reynolds in the end zone resulted in him getting mugged. Alas, no flag. How do you overcome that?

It certainly cost us the Steelers game, with out a doubt that was a forward pass....
not scoring a single offensive TD cost us the steelers game. that was a shameful display by the Rams offense. beaten by Mason frikkin Rudolph!!!!!

The NFL grosses more $$$ than MLB, NBA and NHL combined, and yet they can't hire full time refs, send then all to a lengthy school toput them all on the same page and then hold them accountable when they fuck up?

If the Rams weren't winning I'd be fishing on Sundays, th officiating is so fucking bad.

Yeah I went through the frikken roof on the intentional grounding call. That was seemingly indicative of how the refs have treated us this year though. I have NEVER been a conspiracy theorist, but..... I swear the refs are making us pay for them being embarrassed by the non call in the NFCCG.

If we had receivers that could run the correct route, there wouldn’t be a call to make. In a way, it’s directly related to poor discipline just like any other penalty.

However, they do let Brady do this constantly.

There was no way the refs were letting the Rams win the Steelers game. That's one of the worst and most lopsided officiating exhibitions I can remember.

Rudolph has his forward pass/fumble immediately blown dead, when the refs are not supposed to how it dead, but on Goff's forward pass/fumble there is no immediate whistle. There was no way that the refs could differentiate between those two plays, so quickly.

Then the Pass interference on Ramsey on an uncatchable pass 15 yards from the receiver, but no call when Reynolds gets mugged in the end zone, was too obvious. The refs were making sure that the Steelers were winning that game.

go back & look at the Saints game this season ? Same can be said. Not worth crying about.

Obviously it's the kickers and the refs that ruin football! This thread proves that overwhelming!

The refs cost us the Steelers game for sure, I've never seen a fumble travel 20 yards forward, but let's not forget that they blew dead a fumble recovery for 6 by the Saints in a game that could have turned against us quickly.
Sure we could have one more win, but overall, 7-5 is a record that makes sense given the way we play right now

Yeah but we could just as easily be 9-3 if a few more calls go our way.

And even if NO returns that fumble, I still believe we win that game.

There's certainly an argument that can be made about money, poor referee quality, and "make-up calls" all combining to make football an unwatchable game today. As for money, who sells the most gear? who's actually making the money in this billionaire's league? who's fans are sitting in the seats in the now 1/2 empty stadiums? it's not like there were rams fans buying 1/2 of the tickets in Heinz field, but we sure see a lot of opposing fans sitting in Coliseum seats (offered up by LA season ticket holders). The fans who pay the money to buy all the gear & tickets are the ones who seem to be getting the favorable calls.
Poor refereeing may simply be a matter of educating them & paying them full-time, but I suspect it's got more to do with the money so I'll move on.
So, yeah, the non-PI that went NRC's way in the NFC Championship Game was a black eye on the league. And just like in baseball, when an ump clearly blows a strike call, he'll make up for it on the next pitch. I feel like we're getting a whole season's worth of "make-up calls" against us because, and this is just a guess but it makes sense, the league CANNOT have the Rams in the playoffs again. Fans of the game will just turn off the TV. So, to satisfy the average NFL fan, we have to make up for our sins of winning the NFC last year due to a "blown call".
I put that in quotes because maybe we were given a few favorable calls last year because SK was in the middle of building the most expensive NFL shrine in the country, and needed to sell PSL's? please don't hate on me, but this also makes sense -- it wasn't just the NRC non-PI call, we had a LOT of non-calls that went our way last year. We seemed to have one of the best OL's in the league but Havenstein was basically a holding machine last season; the Clowney non-call is case-in-point. I saw him choke-hold many DE's last season. Whit too. But this season? we suddenly have OL "issues" because they're calling us on it now.
Sound crazy? yet when Levi Stadium was due to open soon, suddenly the 49'ers got "hot". But, didn't Justin Smith have a few too many defensive holding non-calls go his way? wasn't that really the reason that the 9'ers defense was so "good" that year? Justin would basically mug an OL while a LB or looping DE shot the wide open gap. No call. But, suddenly, the very next season, it's "we gotta clean up this defensive holding problem". But by that time the PSL's were sold so the league can "fix" that problem now. And then Justin and Willis retire....
Not sure what else to say.... I tend to sympathize with the conspiracy crowd because there's too many obvious patterns. It doesn't seem to be the same league as it was when I was growing up, but reality it's not -- this is a billionaire's league now, and money will always talk.

I still say Go Rams & will keep following them, but my growing suspicions just won't go away.

Loool. Blaming it on GMoney? Seriously? He will be with us 100% next year. Great kickers occasionally miss. C’mon guys dont blame the refs-every team gets shitty calls. Dont be one of Those fans. Our team as a whole is at fault. We already know the problems and hopefully we can fix it by next season. Maybe we can still make some noise this year but even if we miss the playoffs this season Id still like us to finish strong

This league is setting themselves up for epic failure when a playoff game is decided by a call that everyone knows was wrong, simply because the players are confused, the refs are confused, and the morons who review and decide are even more confused. Great recipe.

That's happened before, and will happen again.

And the NFL will not fail because of errors by refs.

LOL yeah GZ is the reason the Rams aren't 12-0.

This is the dumbest sentiment in this thread other than the opener that the refs cost us this year.

But he's lost us probably two games total this year - 40-49 in the NFL should be made 90% of the time, and he's not close to that this year. We really can't afford to pay a kicker or punter more than $1 million per year - I'd dump both him and Hekker as soon as we can to better allocate that money.

OK I was wrong. This is the dumbest sentiment in this thread.

I'm sick of the Same Old Sorry Ass Refs screwed us bullshit. Just STOP it or take it somewhere else.

Crying about the refs is a losers mentality.

"The Steelers loss was because of the refs" is the stupidest thing to say about that game. It's just fucking stupid. Fucking. Stupid.

Because USUALLY when a teams offense scores 3 points, goes 1-14 on 3rd down conversions and turns the ball over FOUR times they win decisively right???? It happens all the time right?????

Simply put the Rams had that game in hand until the refs fucked them out of it right?????

Yeah of course. It was the refs.

This type of whiney shit isn't good for the board. Just stop. Bad calls happen to every team.

And every whiney fan of every team in every sport takes to the internet to post that it's a conspiracy when their teams gets beaten. Close game or blowout, it never fails. The sport doesn't matter. A well played game or badly played game doesn't matter. It was the refs.

Exactly
Scored only 3 offensive points in the Pittsburgh game, BUT it was the Refs fault.
Yeah mkay...

The fumble they called on Goff - I've literally seen that same thing happen 5 times since, and every time its been called incomplete.

If not for that bullshit call we win that game. That call actually may be the difference between the playoffs and not.
