can you use the 5th year option this late after the Jets delined it?

so if you trade for him you get a guy that is on his last year of his contract but he would be a restricted free agent because he's missed a year. Best I would offer is a low round pick nothing close to a 3rd.

a conditional 6th rounder, 7 if he flames out in camp'
train

Agh that’s true it’s too late for 5th round option. Yeah hell no on a third, maybe even a 4th, I’d take a flyer on him for a fifth and higher though.

Exactly. High quality LTs getting to FA are rare. Likely gotta trade for or draft one. Whit was a unicorn.
I don't think Whit was a unicorn I feel Cincy didn't value him correctly. He was great for us for 5 solid years. As I always bring up Corbett go back and look at what Cleveland thought of him they said he was unplayable that is as bad as it gets. Mekhi is similar he is getting slightly bad rap and with 2 injuries plus a declined 5 year to some he feels like major damaged goods.

Gee. IMO, the Jets make that deal in a heartbeat.

A 3rd round selection (and an extension) for a possible malcontent (on what would be his former team), who has weight and injury issues, and who hasn't played significant time since his rookie season in 2020? I believe that you are a bigger gambler than most. IMO, that says conditional 2024 or 2025 6th rounder at best.
My goal with a 3rd is to give them something they can't say no to. Otherwise they may get nothing for him. Like Ive said OBJ had 2 knee injuries to the same knee and is 7 years older than Mekhi. He is not really a malcontent he just is super clear like Orlando Brown he wants to play LT not RT which was the easiest solution for Saleh.

Why would they do it? Sure maybe a 4th, but getting a almost top 10 pick who most said had a great year in 2020 close to pro bowl status in 14 games. He had shit coaching shit QBs and a turnstile OL and gave up only 7 sacks and fabulous run Olman. Saffold came back OBJ is coming back I have a good feeling on him. The Jets are poised for a big run why do they need the headache.

Exactly my point before they find out he's back and better than 2020. We net ourselves a possible linchpin for long-term success.

We gave up a 5th for Corbett who Cleveland hated go back and read all the local beat writers quoting he was massive failure at #33. That was a 5th for an IOL. This is a possible franchise LT.

I don't think they would nor do I think they are getting rid of him either but it's a major risk for a player who hasn't played for 2 years. He also doesn't fit our "We not me" attitude, he's a guy who wants the LT position but won't compete for it, he wants it just given to him because of his draft status. I honestly don't think McVay wants this type of player on his roster. I would be disappointed if the Rams gave up a 3rd for this guy.

He is not a malcontent.
He wrecked his knee playing RT and wants to go back to LT where he belongs.
Saleh is going to run that team in to the ground

I didn't know that Brown, the Jets other LT had shoulder surgery, he might not be ready for TC. There is no way in my opinion that the Jets would trade Becton.

Yeah i wouldn't trade a 3rd for him when we barely got that for Ramsey.

Maybe... OBJ's shown more in this league than him?

Corbett was healthy. I really think you're downplaying how little Becton's played due to injury.

Yeah and guess what? Corbett performed and didn’t have attitude or injury issues with us hence the 5th. The Jets are on the short end And they have the problem, we would have the leverage. Why the hell would we give up a 3rd or higher?

It doesn’t matter where he was drafted or what we Intend of him, what matters is supply and demand and who has the leverage. If this scenario would ever happen it would us be calling them out of curiosity not trying to give up the farm just to make a show of things.

Many thought Ramsey would command a lot more than what we got but look what we got for him? Are you telling me a sour and oft injured Tackle has the same trade value as a Pro Bowl CB?

And that was too high for Corbett which I even said during the draft because I been wanting to upgrade since Sully left but Cleveland was being Cleveland and took him high asf. Obviously their best writers are going to write that.

I don't believe this coaching staff is in the market for a LT. And they've already shown they're not gonna push any money down the road.

I’m confident in stating this coaching staff is in the market for a LT. Firstly it looks like they are committed to thoroughly evaluating the talent that’s currently on the roster. This gives Note one more chance to impress and an opportunity for AJax to take a huge step up and in. Anything short of stellar LT play this year will start the process of evaluating their options for LT next year.

Clearly but my point is about injuries not talent. If you take a chance on OBJ I am sure you would on Becton who is almost 7 years younger.
