Yes exactly. LT is one of the 2 hardest positions to fill with great talent. Clearly we have terrible talent at the position. I keep bringing up Corbett. Cleveland said he sucked he was unplayable and he was the first pick in the 2nd round. Really just flat out wrong.

At this point I would take a 24 year old and see what he has letting have a change of scenery and 50+ lbs lighter. Maybe he flames out but the 11th pick in the draft I highly doubt it.

Classic case of getting a massively undervalued player who may finally recovered from 2 injuries and could flourish.

Interesting thought experiment, what would you be willing to give up for Becton? Picks and contract? Like what's your final offer?

Additionally, whether or not we like it though, it has been reported on numerous occasions that some of the Rams coaching staff think Jackson is the future at LT. I don't see them making a move until the question of if he is or isn't is put to bed.

People need to stop paying attention to PFF and their lame assed stats....and quoting them as gospel! Rewatch the games and tell me how many sacks he really allowed (2) and how many 'pressures'. Better yet, I'll help......according to PFF, he allowed 3 sacks against Buffalo. One was legit (Miller). The 2nd was when Noteboom's guy (DE) and Edwards guy (DT) ran a stunt. Noteboom played it like he should have. Edwards didn't. Noteboom's guy beat Edwards but PFF gives it to Noteboom. The third? Noteboom stones his guy, Stafford scrambles because of good coverage and Noteboom's guy runs him down. He would have had to hold his guy to prevent it. Seriously, stop using PFF as a reliable source!!! Noteboom's PFF stats are the most quoted piece of misinformation on Ram forums. The problem arises when fans use those bogus numbers and other fans believe them. LAME.

Fact: Sacks allowed by Noteboom? 2
Pressures? Who cares. Tell me PFF's definition of "pressure"? Defender within 3 steps of QB when ball is released? Does that include swing passes when the OL hits the defender, then let's him go to block LBs and DBs on the perimeter? Like I said. PFF = lame. But y'all keep using their stats like the drunk uses the lamp post.
Totally agree.
Anyone who watched this kid play as a rookie saw stardom in his future.
He’s had 2 unfortunate injuries and a shit coaching staff to work with/for

That's the only accurate knock on him. Availability. But any long time Ram fan remembers another guy who had the same problem. Saffold.

During another LT/OL/Noteboom's a bum discussion, I took the time to re-watch his 2022 games. Vs. Bosa? About 35 snaps. 1 sack on a jailbreak by the whole DL. Bosa got the sack...luckily. Vs. Parsons? 9 snaps vs JN. He couldn't testify to what Stafford smelled like. In the 2nd quarter Dallas moved him over Havenstein and he never lined up vs JN again.

The kid has talent. He's smooth. I don't know what some people are watching.

Becton is no Whitworth imo.
Saffold was injured a few times when playing LT, he became a consistently solid LG once moved into the position.

My current wish for 2024 is a top rated QB with our 1'st round draft pick, ... and use our newly acquired 2024 CAP space to purchase the best available young LT AND the best available young Edge OLB to set our future up for the next 5 years. No draft picks lost to another team for a 2023 trade.

Patience Grasshopper ...
Problem it is super rare to find a LT FA on the market they usually all get resigned.

What do you think the Rams should give up for such a player?
And do you think the Jets would accept the suggested compensation?

And do you immediately extend such a player for cap purposes to offset his $3,125,371 guaranteed base salary?
I think this is a sell low by the Jets due to a possible malcontent team distraction. I think we offer a 3rd which I think they would go for. Jets turned down his 5th year and Saleh refuses to just give him the LT job. Combine that with his injury history we might be able to grab him.

Yes I would extend him and take our chances. Baltimore bit on OBJ who is turning 31 and 2 same knee surgeries so why not a 24 year old.

Exactly. High quality LTs getting to FA are rare. Likely gotta trade for or draft one. Whit was a unicorn.

Sorry, but waiting for Noteboom to work out, let alone stay healthy, is wishful thinking. He's had time to prove himself, yet there's nothing solid to go off for even one full season. He's also recovering from a terrible injury that takes time to truly recover from. I can understand going after Becton only if hes cheaply available for trade. Not even sure if that's the case though.

The Rams don’t sign FA O’Lineman basically under Snead & Mcvay.

Not saying they will sign anyone, just saying I understand the logic behind why it'd make sense if we considered Becton. Could be something to watch as the season progresses or nothing at all.

An exceptional LT is part of the recipe for playoff-level success. In the last 25 years for the Rams they’ve had Pace, Whit and a bunch of jags (or worse). Neither Noteboom nor AJax fit the bill (although he could replace Hav or bounce inside to OG). I know McVay understands this so between this year snd next he will need to get a sure thing at LT. I trust he knows how to make that happen.

Gee. IMO, the Jets make that deal in a heartbeat.

A 3rd round selection (and an extension) for a possible malcontent (on what would be his former team), who has weight and injury issues, and who hasn't played significant time since his rookie season in 2020? I believe that you are a bigger gambler than most. IMO, that says conditional 2024 or 2025 6th rounder at best.

And most likely a high third next year...

Max I’d give for a guy like that is a 4th.

This is exactly what got the Spagnolo/Devaney Rams in trouble.

If we did hypothetically trade for him we should use the fifth year option to gauge it out if anything.

can you use the 5th year option this late after the Jets delined it?
