How many of you can all remember the anticipation of how good Brock was going to be until you actually saw him play and then realized, yeah, he is just a CFL guy

I think the first time I saw him was a preseason e. Might have been the HOF game...I forget, but it was disappointing.
I guess he was better than I remember: "Brock signed with the Los Angeles Rams as a 34-year-old rookie, setting the NFL record for oldest rookie quarterback in history. Despite the team's star running back Eric Dickerson holding out the first two games over a contract dispute, Brock led the team to a 7-0 start, a feat no other quarterback would accomplish in their first season with a team again until Ben Roethlisberger started 13-0 with the Steelers in 2004.[4] Brock led the team to a division title, the #2 seed in the NFC playoffs, and set team rookie records for passing yards (2,658), touchdown passes (16), and passer rating (81.8) (most of his rookie passing records have since been broken). Brock's final game was the 1985 NFC Championship Game against the Chicago Bears, where he only managed 66 yards passing and lost a fumble that Wilber Marshall returned for a touchdown to close out the scoring in a 24-0 game."
They won with defense Dickerson (once he ended his holdout) and great special teams.

They didn't light up the scoreboard.

Brock had some really good games with a QB rating over 140 a few times. But also had a few bad ones with QB ratings in the 40s. In the Mon night win vs Whiners he had a better rating that Montana. Loved that game. Unfortunately his playoff games were 2 of the worst back to back postseason games ever by a QB. He averaged a 24 rating. Then the back injury in preseason the next year and he was done. I always thought he was at least better than Jeff Kemp, but neither was the answer at QB.

And then Everett came and showed some promise.

And then we traded Dickerson away because of fricken broke ass Georgia who couldn't afford to pay her players the going rate and we went with a decent RB but no Dickerson.

Of course, that phantom sack really broke Everett's confidence.

The memorable TD pass to Ellard in the Monday night game was a fluke though. Should have been picked. Way behind him, the DB knocked the ball in the air so Ellard could reach back and catch it.

Great game...memorable, but more for the Green pick 6, Brown KO return TD, the Jeter strip sack, and yes that flukey TD catch.

I get that TC reports and OTC praises can be taken with a grain of salt, and pre-season doesnt tell us much.
BUT, just in case I did start perusing some sites so I can pre-order myself a large helping of crow.....

He already looks like an upgrade over Perkins and Wolford.
Exactly....and THAT is exactly what he was drafted to be!!! :)

If he ends up lighting the world on fire, maybe the Rams keep him as a successor to Stafford. As Rams fans, that should make everyone excited!

Understatement of the year so far.

I don't want to get over my skis on this kid, but I get a really good feeling about him. He just seems like a winner. Also, I did hear something on a Rams podcast with regard to the velocity of his throws, namely that at the combine, only Will Levis had a higher velocity than Bennett.

This is going to be a fun preseason.

Yeah, he had a high velocity. A lot of people disregarded it but you watch his combine and training drills and the dude can fucking sling it.

I know it's no pads and in shorts.. but his deep ball at the combine was beautiful.

And he's got such a cocky arrogance about him. I love the kid.

I'ma diehard Hawkeye fan but would turn on Georgia to watch him any chance I could.

Stetson having to practice against that big-time Bulldog/SEC defense for years had to give him a leg up compared to most other college QBs. That Georgia D is far closer to an NFL defense than what other college teams have by a mile.
