I say we poach a niner coach

Just go where the talent is. There has to be an assistant on the niners offensive staff that is talented but has too many talented coaches to be able to leapfrog into a major role in their offense. The fact we'd make a division opponent worse off and gain insight to their inner thoughts is a bonus.

Not a fan of the term expert assigned to me especially in this instance. I prefer "asshole that reads a lot", much more fitting tbh
We could go with "Expert-Asshole" if you prefer.

Just trying to be accommodating.

By-the-way, I recognize that "asshole-expert" has far too many implications to be in the running.

You can’t bring that shit up and express your option and then say let’s not talk about it.
You're right. But I can hope that we can discuss it as a potential strategy that benefits both sides.

Rams Request OC Interview With LSU’s Cortez Hankton

February 18th, 2022 at 2:50pm CST by Sam Robinson
Former NFL wide receiver Cortez Hankton is coming off a national championship-winning season as a Georgia assistant, and he recently accepted an offer to join Brian Kelly‘s LSU staff. A second offseason relocation may be in the cards.

The Rams want to interview Hankton for their offensive coordinator vacancy, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets. Los Angeles is looking to replace Kevin O’Connell, who officially became the Vikings’ head coach this week.

Hankton, 41, is currently LSU’s wide receivers coach and passing-game coordinator but is coming off a season in which he helped Georgia to its first national title since 1980. In place as the Bulldogs’ wideouts coach and pass-game coordinator from 2019-21, Hankton has seen his stock rise after former walk-on Stetson Bennett threw 29 touchdown passes despite key injuries to his receiving corps last season.

A former UDFA out of Texas Southern, Hankton spent some time as a Jaguars receiver in the 2000s but has become better known as a coach. He was on staff as Vanderbilt’s wideouts coach prior to his Georgia role. Hankton has not previously coached in the NFL.

The Rams plan to interview Falcons quarterbacks coach Charles London for this non-play-calling position. Running backs coach Thomas Brown, former Raiders OC Greg Olson and ex-Rams assistant-turned-Kentucky OC Liam Coen are also on the radar to be Sean McVay‘s top offensive lieutenant.

I hate the rules and think they degrade what some have accomplished. But, I understand what you’re saying in regards to using the rule to an advantage.

Rams hiring Broncos’ Chris Beake as LBs coach

  • Cameron DaSilva, February 19, 2022

According to Mike Klis of 9News in Denver, the Rams are hiring Chris Beake as their new linebackers coach.

What’s interesting is the fact that Beake is taking a position with the Rams that wasn’t publicly known as being vacant. Chris Shula is the Rams’ current LBs coach so it looks like he could either receive a promotion or leave Sean McVay’s staff.

Beake was promoted by the Broncos last season from defensive assistant to defensive pass game specialist.
I am thinking (hoping) Chris Shula is not going to leave.

I find Jourdan Rodrigue to be well clued-in and her information is both timely and reliable.

In a tweet that OldSchool provided above, Jourdan said:
"If you see a new name attached to a certain position, does not necessarily mean the previous assistant is leaving."

The title of Defensive Pass Game Specialist is a little different. Usually see Coordinator attached instead of Specialist, when an assistant gets a title associated to the run or passing game. For instance, Ejiro Evero had the Pass-Game-Coordinator title with the Rams.

I am surprised that O’Connell was such a hot property but I expect it is because they bring the culture as well as know-how with them. Everything we hear says the atmosphere in the and around the team is second to none
Its a copy cat league....meaning GMs and owners are not creative.
A good deal of what has turned the Rams around has been done in a unique creative way.
I can easily see them bringing in a guy from the McVay tree and expect the same results without letting him do it his way.
Who knows?
The Vikings have a ton of talent and have under delivered for years now.

It sure appears that Beake has a very long coaching history in the NFL & has coached on both sides of the ball but mostly on the defensive side.

Defensively he has been involved with the DL & LB'ing, not any time specifically as a secondary coach. But was the Defensive Pass Game Specialist a couple of times.

For 9 seasons he has been involved in coaching Von Miller from almost all his different position titles @ Denver.

Before Barry departed for the Packers DC, Shula was titled as the "Outside Linebackers Coach'. Then after the departure of Barry, Thad Bogardous was hired as the assistant LB'er coach this 2021 season.

Love Greg Olson.
I think he is an excellent coach that has improved QBs everywhere he has been.

I do find it noteworthy that Beake was involved that heavily in the pass game from the LB coach spot. Kind of impressive. Tells me he's probably got something to him which is not a surprise if the Rams are hiring him.

Sure doesn’t hurt having Beake here now in our efforts to resign Von.
Agreed and interested to see how this all breaks out with Chris Shula and his new title unless he's another assistant that will follow O'Connell to Minnesota.

The Commish made Gruden his fall guy (and got rid of a vestige of Al Davis, the hated enemy) for the Redskins toxic culture. It would be painting a target on your org by bringing

Here is the way I prefer to look at it. There is no owner in the NFL that is willing to give up wins on the basis of race…they want butts in the seats. If some are that narrow, then let them suffer with perennially bad coaching and let the Merit based organizations reap the benefits. I don’t want to slide down the slope of “this guy or that guy” would have been hired by now if only his color was correct. Greed drives people more than social justice…
