You see a demotion?
He's a great RB coach by all accounts and our assistant head coach. I was thinking he was our run game coordinator too, but I dont think he is. I think Eric Henderson is our current run game coordinator actually. But yea next year I'd bet that responsibility goes to someone else. Probably Carberry or one of the new hires.

There were certainly issues with the OL that affected Brown's ability to field a good run game. Also IMO the lack of padded practices can affect a team's ability to be physical as a core element in their play. But McVay requires a coach to blow his mind in interviews and show some rapport of working with him to solve issues and formulate good gameplans in order to get that hire.

Casting that wide net doesn't surprise me. This guy isn't about to rest on his laurels. He is, rather, going to attack the weaknesses of his offense and probably use these interviews for self-scouting like all the great coaches do. Then once that dust settles the guy who impressed him most gets the gig.

But whatever he's doing it works. Keep it up Coach. :trophy:

While I'm thinking about this I want to observe that McVay might be able to take advantage of let's say a slower tendency to hire qualified black coaches to the Head Coach position.

They are already benefitting with Morris. If Morris was white I do believe he'd probably have a HC job. And there is no desire to explore this here and get all political, it is what it is. There does, to me at least, seem to be a bigger comfort level with owners at large in hiring white head coaches.

So why not make that work for you. Right? Why not turn the tables on the league who keeps poaching McVay's coaching staff by hiring some qualified brothers. Not only will you get let's say 1.5 years or maybe even 2.x years with each of them compared to their white counterparts, but the Rams also get picks when said brothers are hired away.

Seems win-win to me.

Henderson is the Defensive Run-Game-Coordinator but you may be correct about Brown.

Brown is the RB-coach, with the nice added-designation of Assistant Head Coach.

I thought he also held the title of Offensive Run-Game-Coordinator but I don't think anyone did this season.

I think the Rooney Rule (two candidates of color from outside and organization) also applies to coordinators.

London and Hankton would satisfy that requirement.

I like both Brown and Phillips from within but have been on the Liam Coen bandwagon for a while.

Now, if it's Brown or Phillips, there could be openings for passing game coordinator or running game coordinator. Perhaps both, if Brown or Phillips got OC, and the other left for an OC job elsewhere.

Could see Robinson getting bumped to QB-coach. Finally, hoping the Rams do not lose DL-coach Henderson.
Only head coach and front office positions.

You can’t bring that shit up and express your option and then say let’s not talk about it.

Wait a second I thought it was one candidate that was required?

Also, that’s dumb if it also requires you to interview minority candidates outside the organization to! Shouldn’t internal candidates have a better chance by be part of the organization already?

I think it was up-dated to two candidates; and I think it specifically requires 'outside the organization'.

Of course, I also thought it applied to coordinators, and was wrong.

OldSchool is the expert here ... He's kind of a show-off.

Really to two? :explode1:

Amazing how dumb asf they are.

Does that include GM’s to?

I heard no one is as diverse as @OldSchool

I would guess they already had a list of guys they want to interview since everyone knew KoC was leaving for Minnesota.

How important is it to get the new hires in house before free agency and the draft?

I have to believe they get some input to the process but I think McVay and Snead already have been working on scenarios and offers to players they want to target.

Yea if you look at McVay's staff half of our assistant coaches are black, but for whatever reason our coordinators have been white outside of Raheem. I think after next year Raheem definitely gets another HC shot. And I said this when the Brian Flores lawsuit was announced, that if McVay had only black OCs for the next decade, half of the NFL would have black head coaches. I said that half joking but it really is true. There are a ton of qualified very skilled black coaches around the NFL/CFB that given a chance would be successful. McVay is smart and socially aware so I wouldn't doubt he's keeping this in mind.

I say we poach a niner coach
I say we implant a niner coach and keep him on the books. Would be great to see a slow and incremental decay of that organization and front office where turmoil and locker room conflict are regular to the point where no one wants to be a part of that franchise.
