Yes

Yes, and those draft picks are going to be mostly third and fourth round role players. Our roster is now and will become more so a handful of very highly paid stars and a bunch of JAGs filling in around them.

Have you looked at the 2021 draft class ? Those likely 3'rd and 4'th round 'JAGS' as you are calling them may turn out to be difference makers if we get the draft right. Many of those guys who performed very well at the Senior Bowl are going to be 3'rd & 4'th round draftees in this deep college class. It's just one more reason I won't fret if the Rams choose to trade Brockers & Havenstein in order to save CAP space and add a couple extra draft picks. jmo.

JAGs. We will draft more players like Kiser, Evans, Long, Kelly, Demby, JFM, etc. and find a few gems like Edwards, SJD and Kupp. I don’t see how we can maintain our talent level when we give up several high draft picks for one player, and we have to pay that one player top dollar against the cap.

Tender Williams and get FA C Linsley. Grab FA WR Agholor and FA ILB Williamson as well.

I don't know much about the draft prospects but from what I've seen of him I want us to draft OG Meinerz. Then we'll need a CB, OLB, TE, RB and a WR for kick returns.
I like it excepct aggy has only shown produtive in the slot and we need a vertcal guy. We are strong in the slot as we sit

Take a look at the bottom 1/3 of the 1st round this past decade. You'll see that so-called JAGs can be selected in any round.

ALEX MACKC, ATLANTA FALCONS

Falcons impending free agent Alex Mack said he'd be interested in playing for the 49ers.
"Kyle is an incredible coach. Great person, strong motivator and runs an offense that is something that I'd know really well and that I performed very well in, Mack said in a Super Bowl week interview. They (the 49ers) are a very enticing thing." Mack played under Kyle Shanahan with the Falcons from 2015-2016. With Weston Richburg's future in question due to injuries, the 49ers could have a spot for Mack this offseason. San Francisco would save $4.5 million in cap space from Richburg's release.

I see a lot of solid starters, some pro bowlers, some guys with super bowl rings and a few failures. Many more successful picks compared to busts, however one wants to define that.

Teams can choose the amount of risk they are willing to take in the first round, or in whatever way one wants to group the top rated talent in each draft.

Mack is a California guy. We don’t need a bidding war but let’s kick those tires. Need at least one solid FA to shore up the interior OL. There are other options as well.

Many more successful picks than busts? Sounds like Snead and McVays track record with the Rams drafts so far.

Phil Taylor

2012
Kendall Wright
Brandon Weeden
AJ Jenkins
David Wilson (injury)

2013
Shariff Floyd
Bjoern Werner
Datone Jones
Sylvester Williams
Matt Elam
Cordarrelle Patterson

2014
Deone Bucannon
Marcus Smith
Johnny Manziel
Dominque Easley
Kelvin Benjamin (only 2 good years)

2015
Malcolm Brown
Stephone Anthony
Phillip Dorsett
Shane Ray
Cedric Ogbuehi

2016
Robert Nkemdiche
Joshua Garnett
Paxton Lynch
Laquon Treadwell
Artie Burns
Josh Doctson
Darron Lee

2017
Reuben Foster
Taco Charlton
Takkarist Mckinley
Gareon Conley
Charles Harris

2018 Still early, so far not looking too go for:
Mike Hughes
Taven Bryan
Billy Price

2019 Again still early, but these guys need to step up quick:
N'Keal Harry
Deandre Baker
Kaleb Mcgary
Tytus Howard

And there are others that I could list who may have been or are starters, but seem to be or have been pretty average at best, IMO.

Meanwhile the Rams have avoided the risk with proven NFL talent.

I’m not going to go back and forth with you on this, but really, Corderrlle Patterson has played in every game since he was drafted and made All Pro four times.

My bad. But, I didn't see a guy who is already on his 4th team making the Pro Bowl as a return specialist as being a 1st round success story. At least I hope that wasn't the goal when the selection was made by the Vikings.

Four times and it’s All Pro.

Is Paterson considered a good 1st round pick or a good FA signing?

All Pro with the Vikings twice and the Bears twice. If you don’t think that is a good use of a low first round pick then I don’t know what to say. You want to be right and win a trophy? Reply and I’ll give you one.

Cordarrelle Patterson has been an all-time great kick-off return man, and a useful “gadget” player.

Terrific athlete ... good football player.

I just double checked. Patterson was 29th pick in 2013 Draft, and has averaged just 25 receptions per year over eight seasons. By comparison, Robert Woods was selected about a dozen picks after Patterson, and has averaged around 65 receptions per year over his eight seasons.

Patterson’s four Pro Bowls have been as a return man. I don’t believe Woods has gone to any Pro Bowls.

No, if i knew my team had a late first and it would be used on a great return guy who offered next to nothing as a WR and we would not pick up his 5th yr option, then I would be greatly disappointed.
