Three comments after reading 82 pages... the first is that I believe the Rams will sign an experienced QB to get them thru the season. Maybe Tyrod Taylor, but the team cannot count on Simpson or Bennett to carry them for a few games unless one of them balls out during preseason. Secondly... the Rams brass made a good decision drafting Simpson even if many of us wanted a playmaker on O or D. He is a smart QB, McVay approved it, they would never have a chance to draft a QB again without giving up 3 first-round picks, and he had a great season at Alabama until he got hurt. I'm sure McVay can bring out the best in him... whatever that might be. The pick was definitely worth the risk.
Lastly... I believe McVay was "subdued" in his first interview about Simpson because of the respect he has for Matt Stafford. One... it signals the end for Stafford... whether that is 1, 2 or 3 years away. It signals the end for #9 and McVay was feeling it. Or McVay was just trying to be respectful and acted overemotional. Nothing to get upset about and I'm sure Stafford was fine with the pick. You know Stafford understands the business of drafting for the future and I don't care if the Rams drafted Tom Brady..... he would sit until Stafford himself decides to retire.
All of this has probably been said already -lol... but I wanted to share my thoughts. Go Rams!
