So we're to be concerned with what Cam Fucking Newton says?

Here's where I stand. I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYBODY SAYS. All I know are the facts.

We have the best QB in the NFC. We have the best HC in the NFL. As long as they're together we're a SB favorite. As long as McVay is the HC we're in great hands, no matter who is the QB.

All the chicken little whining and worrying is like they say, paying interest on a debt not yet due.

I kept hearing we need a great pick at #13 to get us over the hump. IMHO, what will get us over the hump was already acquired in free agency. Which is why they went the way they did in the draft. For the near future.
The debate is similar to the lecture I used to give my kids about their allowance. They were always "Spend the money today and worry about tomorrow when it gets here." Some guys want the best team now and worry about the quarterback situation tomorrow.

Philosophical differences. I prefer the route they went. I don't wanna be one of those teams in quarterback purgatory having to settle for the Minshews, Brissetts or aging Cousins of the world.

If Simpson doesn't turn out to be that guy then so be it. But he has a good shot. I wonder how many quarterbacks over the years woulda been more successful if they had good coaching and someone to teach them from the start?

Huh? I hope you are joking. No one in the media or crazy ass fan (I'm not including myself as that type of fan) will say anything until it happens. Not saying its right or fair but once again, something I can see happening which I do agree is crazy because the Rams plan Simpson is to develop Simpson behind the scene.
Nah, no rookie QB will make us question the Simpson pick. Scheme fit is everything, especially for a QB. It doesn't matter how well a rookie QB does if that rookie is not a fit for McVay's scheme. QBs that aren't scheme fits wouldn't even be on the Rams board.

I will add on - any player other than Simpson would have been hopefully great depth to have in case of an injury at that position.

Whereas if Stafford goes down, we are screwed no matter what.

I cannot see Simpson getting up to speed enough to win us a SuperBowl. Maybe win a couple games for us if Stafford is only down for a couple games but I wouldn't want to bet on that.
You need a lot more nuance than this.

If Stafford goes down for a long time or misses the playoffs, we're screwed.

But what if Stafford misses 5 games in the middle of the season? How is that different than AJ missing the same 5 games? Or Nacua missing the same 5 games?

QB2 will be vital in that time period. 2-3 or 3-2 is much better than 0-5.

Plus trading pick 29 (and three other picks) for one of the best CBs in the league. How’s that for using the draft for immediate 2026 impact! Yet media/etc seems to have forgotten that already.

I did say Simpson might be able to win a few games but that I wouldn't bet on that.

Whereas if we had a Cooper instead of Puka for 5 games, I would bet that we would still win 3 of the 5 games if I was a betting man on football.
