So basically, if we had another DC other than Morris, we mighta, coulda, possibly, with outside chance, and a lot of luck, been 9-8! Yeah, I can see how Raheem Morris is the reason we're picking high in the rounds.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, everyday would be Christmas!

We couldn't get the same 5 big uglies together on the OL for 2 consecutive games until week 14 & 15 but man if we had a different DC we would have had a winning record!!!

Losing Donald and Robinson on the line. Having to start rookies in the secondary. Not sure any DC woulda done much better. Yeah, his bend don't break give them a ten yard cushion all day sure is frustrating. But playing any different likely woulda resulted in more big plays against our defense. Whatever he did last playoffs sure worked. This year he couldn't replicate that.

I would have thought (even expected) that if McVay wanted to make a change, he would have already done it.
I tend to agree with this, though since he is a great friend of McVay's and since he is heavy in the mix of trying to land a HC job perhaps they have agreed to part ways but have not let it hit the news just yet. Because given how high the regard is for McVay around the league if it were to get out that McVay is changing the DC job it might hurt Raheem's standing and the way he is viewed.

Either way I hope he gets the Colts gig. It would be best for him and best for the Rams IMO. And he will probably be a better head coach in his second tour than he ever was as a coordinator. He has a great skill set to run the whole show.

Can't believe that buffoon Saturday is even being considered. Can you imagine the difference between him and Raheem in the interview. I am certain that Raheem beat his ass badly.

Idk folks, I think we all believe that the offense will get back on track this upcoming season. Back to at least 25, 27 ppg. How shitty would it be to let Morris and his 18ppg go and bring in a new guy who stinks it up and truly wrecks the defense and our playoff chances…

It could happen. I’d be sick. We know what Morris’ defense is. It’s more than good enough to support a McVay offense that isn’t ravaged by injuries and broken.

There aren’t any sure fire DC’s available at this point anyway. Can McVay find another Staley? Idk I doubt it.

Maybe I’m being too conservative in my opinion. I’m leaning to wanting him back for a 3rd year.

-JOKE!!!

I’ll give you the rams lossing to Tampa hurt.Brady would have eliminated as well.
Blaming Raheem Morris is total BS!! We’ll what happens with the Assistant coaches.
the Rams had a chance to make the playoffs, but reality is the season worked out well for rhe Rams at the end of the day.
He was totally responsible for giving up the TD in the last minute. His assistants didn't help but it was prevent a win defense that allowed TB to beat the Rams in the last minute.

If Donald Ramsey and Wagner were not on the team, I would say okay - bring him back.

But he has basically neutered both Donald and Ramsey with his game plan - although I was glad that Morris did allow Ramsey to blitz the QB from time to time.

And I don't believe it's "Morris' defense". I think Morris is running McVay's defense. It works great when you have a healthy O line, QB and WR corp who can put up points. The '22 defense, outside of a couple of differences, was the '21 defense. 35 TDs allowed, 36 FGs (35 & 30 in '21). 19.7 PPG in 21, 20.7 PPG in 22. One was a SB defense the other a 5-12 defense. Blaming Morris for 2022 is like complaining your face doesn't look as good as your ass so it's your feet's fault.

Well Taylor Rapp hopefully is gone. Raheem Morris to the Colts would be good as well.

.Hmmm.. Maybe my memory has failed but... didn't the offense just hand it right back over to the Bucs for that drive?

Ambivalent on Morris.

A stout run D is always a big plus.

But, not much creativity or unpredictability from the Rams D last year on obvious passing downs,

Perhaps that's mostly on McVay as he could have insisted on more.

I liked MH at one OLB on run downs and thought he did well for a "rookie" at the position. Most edges are lightweight speed guys and MH is much larger and more powerful than the players OT's normally face. Still need a high speed guy with some technique for obvious passing downs. Beyond Ramsey, and the one rookie DB who showed promise late, the other Ram secondary players proved to be below average, at best.

Biggest concern I have is another season with a bottom of the barrel running game with continued over reliance on Kupp producing similiar results to this dreadful season.

It's obvious to me that Saturday has the video of Irsay and the donkey.
Why else would an owner go to war with his GM and staff to demand a HC who had no previous experience as a HC and a losing record (1-7) with their team when he was the interim HC? HIRE RAHEEM FOR GOD SAKE AND THE SAKE OF THE RAMS AS WELL. CLEAR THE DECK SO THAT MCVAY DOESN'T HAVE TO FIRE HIS BUDDY AND HIRE EVERO.

It's sad because owners always win these disputes. Raheem may not make good choices but at least he knows what the choices are. Saturday is clearly clueless. Irsay is obviously gunning for the first pick in 2024's draft.
Irsay obviously doesn't care what will happen to the fanbase if he forces the hire of Saturday and they drop to the bottom of the NFL. Hire Raheem and if he falls flat then they can hire Saturday because it's not like he's going to get hired as a HC by anyone else. Hire Saturday as the OL coach if that's what Irsay wants to keep him close.

Sure he is being blamed........

"well if the D didn't allow those long time consuming drives, the offense would have more chances to score"

(Reality).... the offense would have had worse numbers.

"well if the D would have taken the ball away more, our offense would have had shorter fields more often"

(Reality)......Matt Gay would have had more field goals

And then even when the defense won a game, Morris was still blamed..

"Like Detroit for example. took an interception in the endzone to win. They could be blow outs if we didn't let the other teams offense hold the ball for so many plays."

To quote Herman Edwards (sorta)...."they won the fucking game!!!" Or more accurately..."The DEFENSE won the fucking game."

But what is being said is, 'it took a great stand by the D to pressure Goff and pick him off'. Da!!!! Do we get two 'W's' for blowouts?

"That is just the argument that keeps getting made because the fact is there really isn't a defense for taking a #1 D and making it middle of the pack. As you know, Goff put that D in bad situations and they still were #1."

And yet, with a lesser defense, the Rams won the damn Superbowl! Here's a thought....Maybe when our defense was #1, they got a lot of help from the offense!!!????
No, he is not being blamed for the teams bad performance. He is being held accountable for the performance of the D that lets bad QBs look like HOFers. He is being blamed for defauling to the same lame D over and over again that gives up lay up 1st downs and doesn't give the Dline even a smidgen of a chance to sack a QB. Then blames the loose CB play on the fact the Dline can't get to the QB. I saw AD unblocked and he couldn't get to the QB cause receivers were running free for the first5 yards. He IS part of the problem not the solution.

Yup. He's being held accountable for running the same D he ran last year. Whatta BUM!! The complaints were there last year also but that was kinda silly.

I equate the Morris complaints to the draft complaints. "Gotta take OL early and often!!!" What idiots!!! Yeah, all the way to 2 SBs in 6 years with a Lombardi.
