Fair enough - but if Adams is spying, that helps our long ball game, which we currently do not have.
As I said, huge Goff fan. I just don't think it's a "pick a side and dig in" situation - it deserves some thought, but ONLY, I repeat, ONLY because of Goff's thumb.
Adam’s playing deep helps our long ball game lol

I wonder if McVay asks his team captains (besides Goff and in private obviously) who they feel should start this week? I think the defensive captains would choose Wolford and the offensive guys would choose Goff Just my opinion obviously......Its so wild to have a QB controversy at this stage of the season!

BTW, You think Jamal Adams might be assigned to spy Wolford? Me too...So I don't see him running all over Seattle.
God dang, I would LOVE this!!

Adams near the LOS stopping a scramble while Wolf Man tosses another long ball deep without Adams back there to help.

SIGN ME UP!!

For the record, IMHO, this is the only positive of starting Wolford over Goff. His mobility, how it opens up the long ball possibility, and his willingness to try the long ball, given that opportunity.

Everything else is on Goff's side of the ledger. If Goff was willing to work out the kinks in his long game, and willing to throw it as his first option/read, we'd really have something.

Good lord. I am not sure why some on here cannot listen to one compliment about how Wolford played without losing their ever loving minds. It's like they feel that liking Wolford and Goff is mutually exclusive. Get a fuckin life already. I can like the play of both QB's and don't need some arm chair hacks telling me I'm an idiot because Goff this and Goff that.... It's a fucking John Wolford thread you donuts. If you can't just enjoy the play of our Wolf and get behind him in the VERY REAL chance that he starts this week.... Then you're not really a fan of the TEAM.

I hope to god our coach doesn’t need to ask our players who he should start.. how weak would that look

That's not the issue here.

I don't think one person in this forum is being critical of Wolford. They are just defending Goff against some unjust criticism.

You can criticize that Goff made some really poor decisions in each of his games and has poor mobility but he also had some extremely good passes in those games as well.

It's the one's that are saying Goff is Goof, Goff's contract is an albatross (it's a bit high for his performance but he has had a winning season each of his years with McVay so I am giving that a pass), Goff played poorly against New England (we won 24 - 3 for god's sake), etc.

To me, this is not a complicated decision For this game ONLY.

Goff was having issues with ball security BEFORE he fractured the thumb on his throwing hand. What now? Gulp...

It will be a 13 day old injury by gametime. There’s no WAY he can be 100%. Hell, 80% would be an optimistic guess, IMO.

And a healthy Goff was unable to get a win against the Jets and these same Seahawks in the previous 2 weeks.

So, is an inexperienced but 100% Wolford with all his various talents able to give the Rams a better chance for victory than the injured Goff with his recent baggage? I kinda think so for THIS week.

I say start the kid. There’s something about him.

I am okay with starting Wolford if Goff's thumb is even slightly hurting (do a thumb war with Goff lol), but if Wolford is not doing the job by halftime, I would put Goff in and see what he can do. It's season over if we don't win.

Slightly hurting? We’re in week 18 in the NFL everyone’s everything is slightly hurting. You’re seriously suggesting we sit Goff for Wolford and bring Goff back in the 2nd half if we’re loosing? Why would we do that? Would the same Goff you sat now have a better chance to bring our team a comeback win? If that’s the case why wouldn’t we start him?

Did the defense score 9 points, block a FG and hold each of them to 7 points scored? (Thanks to an INT)

This is my thinking too. I have serious doubts a guy who had surgery on the most important finger on your throwing arm can play in less than 2 weeks.

I believe no matter who starts it’s going to be the typical “I told you so” argument. I just want to win, and may the best man make it so. I am rallying behind whomever starts.

A thumb hurting on the passing hand is one of the most important body parts on a QB. Goff has grip troubles as it is.

However, if Wolford hasn't done anything, that's when you are in desperation mode. Look at Murray and he led a drive right away on a bum leg. Plus you only have to play a half with a bad thumb not a whole game.

Adams plays in the box the majority of the time. He is not in coverage a ton.
