Watch the video. I don't think it's accurate to say that McVay didn't open up the playbook for Goff. You design an offense around what you have (at least the good coaches do). If you don't have a mobile QB, you don't design an offense around a QB's mobility. With Wolford, you can incorporate more plays that make use of mobility. But Wolford has other limitations that Goff doesn't. Watch the intermediate sideline throws from the pocket. He simply doesn't have anything close to Jared's zip. That's going to force McVay to take some plays out that Goff can make but Wolford can't. That's not a knock on Wolford. It's simply what good play-callers do.
