If he comes in and lights it up, do we ride him throughout the playoffs?

It can be done. Kobe Bryant broke his index and ring finger on his shooting hand in the 2009-10 season. He went on to be named finals MVP.
With Goffs accuracy and ball handling ability around defenders - what could go wrong?!?!?

I think Goff wanting to play is notable and very tough and all that. But it's not good for the team. It's one thing if the guy has been on a major roll but that's not been the case.

This is a situation where the organization needs to have the balls to step in and tell him to get the surgery he needs. If he needs surgery. If not then get the rest on the digit that it needs.

I respect the fuck out of players who play through pain. And I respect Goff for wanting to finish this season and the playoffs. But I think his season is over.

I think Wolford's gonna be our guy at least for the next game or two. Even if everything is good in that thumb (i.e. nothing fractured) it's gonna be hell to throw a ball for a while for Jared. We don't need him out there throwing even more shitty fluttering balls than he's already throwing.

Now if we get in and things are ok structurally with Jared's thumb they might let him play. But IMO they need to be mindful of not hurting the team and have to ensure he's got full strength in his throws to do that.

Very interesting.

So it would be wounded Goff with perhaps no running game vs Brett Hundley or Wolford Vs Hundley. I think we could pull it off with our defense.

I would rather save Goff if we pull off a playoff win and perhaps it might help. Tought call for Mcvay either way.

It is still entirely possible that...

1. The Rams get into the playoffs somehow.

2. The Rams get Whit back to settle the OL down in the playoffs.

3. The Rams get Akers back and he gives us a strong run game in the playoffs.

Can you imagine Goff leading us to a Super Bowl with a fucked up thumb? Talk about the table being set for a Hollywood story...

I really hope Green bay wins as if they do, there is no reason for Jared to play. However the situation in Philly makes this a higher gamble for jared than it should be, which is why he's still lobbying to play.

If he can go he and is cleared by the medical staff and coaches he should go .... although If he does struggle .. Wolford should go in

If Wolford lights it up it just means he lit up the Cards defense. Doesn't mean we can expect that to continue in fact we should not expect that.

Goff needs a better backup behind him next season. Someone he knows can start if necessary. Competition is required on top of better pieces around Goff.

If Goff does play, I hope he pulls a Warner and wears a glove...With his smallish hands it may be something he should look at doing even after the thumb heals.

He never threw a ball in an NFL game
But his tiny little legs gonna drive ‘em insane.

He’s got just one shot to make his cash he’s running for a TD and he’s running real fast

Go Go.
Go Jonny go go go.
Go go.
Go Jonny go go go.
Jonny be good

He needs one win to get his team in the hunt. He’s warning Mr. Hekker there wont be a punt.

Hes coming for the top seeds and he’s coming real fast he’s gonna show the world his new TD dance

Go Go.
Go Jonny go go go.
Go go.
Go Jonny go go go.
Jonny be good :)

Agreed, which is why they lose as a team. Many components of the recent 2 game skid. Pointing out 1 components flaws without acknowledging flaws elsewhere is just not accurate. (Not saying you have, just where I'm coming from)

Exactly, and no clarification necessary, I knew what you were getting at.
That's precisely why piling on the one guy we all know is playing bad is essentially just beating a dead horse when there are plenty of other things that contribute to our problems that we could try to discuss also... but that kind of conversation isn't satisfying enough for people who need heads to roll when their football team isn't playing good enough to make the playoffs, nevermind the fact that most prognosticators outside of Rams fans believed this team would finish below .500.

Only in the last few weeks can someone point out McVays shortcomings this season without getting an earful about how great he is and how its just Goff homerism speaking. Or to point out that our O-line really isn't actually much better than last seasons at all. They just used better run blocking schemes than they did last year and the NFC east didn't have much film to adjust to it.

Watching games is like looking at an approaching iceberg from the bow of a ship. We only know what we see on the surface but the reality is much bigger and goes much deeper than what we can observe.

Call me crazy but I actually feel pretty good about this game with wolford, especially if Kyler is out. I think he can make some crucial plays with his legs. And honestly, with the way Goff has played in some games lately, Wolford might actually help our offense more as long as he doesn’t turn the ball over. It’s not like we’ve been lighting teams up by passing recently even with Goff so might not be a huge loss their anyway and the running aspect might just really help and open things up some.

I’d also love to see some taysom hill like plays with Bryce Perkins if he’s brought up. Could be good way to pick up some short yardage conversions

Did you come into this season thinking they should be a SB favorite? Just curious.

I all along said it was a rebuilding or retooling season and thought 10-11 wins was the upside.

The Jets game is really the diff between being where that top end was and where they could fall short.

don't forget the 2 9er games that we lost too. Yeah they're a sub .500 team.
I come into every season thinking the Rams can win it all. So does every other team. That's the point of their journeys, put a ring on that finger. Sure some guys just play for the money but those teams never go anywhere. Passion is what drives teams to greatness, and right now I'm not seeing much passion out of the Rams.

Wow! The plot thickens.

TBH, I was kinda looking forward to seeing how Wolford would do in the McVay offense.

Really curious as to the private conversations McVay and Snead have been having about their QB...
