I think the element of surprise going in will help, but once teams have some film on him? His presence doesn't change the fact that our OL is still not good enough, nor does it change the lack of deep threat. McVay is going to have to move him around a lot, but mobility only takes a guy so far.

But, it may be enough to win some games with the current defense.

I can't help but to think that Henderson scores on that play he got injured on, if the defense had to play it honest believing that Goff was a threat to run.

They moved the Bears game to 4:25... So there would be no advantages.

The good news is the Packers need the game. I thought they wrapped up the 1 seed last night, but apparently a 3 way tie at 12-4 with NO & Seattle, and they lose the #1.

That's such bullshit. They're basically forcing us to risk Goff's health if he's remotely able to play.

At this point, I'm in offseason mode with the way things turned out in the end. I want us to draft reliable starting linebackers, a genuine deep threat at WR, O-line depth, and maybe a backup QB that can light a fire up Goff's ass
I don't want to waste a pick on a 5th round QB that gives us nothing just like Manion did. Just JAGs after round 2 normally and the Rams have little chance of getting a top 30 or 40 pick.

Add those pieces you mentioned and if Goff is only so so next yr, then use your multiple comp picks next yr to trade and move up with their own #1 and get a QB in the 22' draft. That's the yr they would approach that I believe.

They just don't have the draft capital or cap resources to go get a QB in 21'.

Also after 21', Goff could be released and actually save $1.7M in cap space. You still eat $30M in cap room, but it is not an additional hit to cut him.

So give him more pieces in 21', and let's see if he sinks or swims.

It can be done. Kobe Bryant broke his index and ring finger on his shooting hand in the 2009-10 season. He went on to be named finals MVP.

Its different. You have to grip a football to throw it. Otherwise, Goff will be shooting free-throws out there. And we've seen enough of that from him. Lol.

i am one who thought we should give wolford a series or 2 when goff was playing bad. this would have lit a fire under goffs ass but playing wolford do to injury does not light the fire as much because goff just thinks it is do to injury not performance. if wolford does play well it still should give goff incentive to work harder to improve skills and we will not need to draft a qb
I also was of this frame of mind. I even went so far as to suggest it be treated like baseball, no biggie for a reliever to come in from the bullpen. At least in football, you can put him back in! This gives a series or two for the OC to talk to the QB at least, and gives the backup some reps so he's in a better spot if he needs to come in due to injury.

If you've ever had to relocate a joint on your own, you know it happens pretty fast and in a slight panic. It really doesn't hurt as much as the discomfort of the dislocation status. So you want it back in place immediately. In my mind, the worst thing to do at that moment is nothing. To sit there with the discomfort of something dislocated is much worse than going ahead and getting it back in place. So you just do it. It really doesn't hurt but actually a relief. You are somewhat numb at that instance. I've had to do it multiple times with a ring finger and a shoulder. The shoulder is much more dramatic. I kept playing with the ring finger, just taped it to my middle finger. But the thumb is a whole different animal. Goff is sore as hell today and will be all week. We all know he's not famous for having large hands and he already throws a wobbly ball most of the time. I wouldn't look for him to play this week even with all the therapy and treatment available to a NFL player. Remember Warner's fumbling woes with his hand injuries? Think of Goff's ball security before this injury. Not a good recipe. McVay should realize this early and go with the WOLF. He really doesn't have a smarter choice.
I hear you on the shoulder I popped mine playing rugby ... to say I may have swore a little when they popped it back in was a an understatement

i think i remember another time we caught lightning in a bottle with our 2nd stinger.....
And I also remember when our 2nd stringer was Mannion, Keenum, Davis, Hill, Clemens, Feeley, Boller, Null, Frerotte, Berlin, Chandler...
Waiting on lightning in a bottle to strike gold twice might just be a fools errand

Watching these highlights - two things.

1. He is much much more mobile than Goff....

2. He turns it loose - there seems to be zero hesitation when he throws the ball. I could see him making a lot of big plays but also turning it over also.

It's intriquing to say the least.

well lol yeah.... second stringers are second stringers for a reason.

But if he has to play he has to play - plus im at the point where trying something else isn't a bad idea.

From what ive seen this year on offense - we aren't going anywhere, just too inconsistent.

It's worth a look, even if its epic fail.

He doesn’t have to be great. He just has to make a few plays with his feet and a few with his arm.

AND DONT TURN THE FUCKIN’ BALL OVER!!

This is a stellar defense. They will handle the rest.
Sooner or later, something will pop.

If Goff had followed this formula, the Rams would have won last night.

Chandler was actually pretty good. I was surprised when we kept Miller over him. I was pissed.
Didn't Chandler take Atlanta to a Super Bowl?

I was referring to guys since Warner. Chandler was a disaster when he filled in for Bulger in 04, had a 6 INT game against Carolina

You know that Goff converted 9 3rd downs yesterday right? Made some really good throws. I'd rather Goff take a knee than throw the head scratching, "what the fuque was that?" throws he is becoming famous for, but how do we replace the stuff he does very well??

He knows the offense and there isn't a ton of film on him at this level. Also Arizona isn't a great defense up front. I think there is a reasonable chance he plays well.

Just keep in mind when that happens that he probably won't be able to sustain it. Especially in the playoffs. At least without Akers going apeshit for us on the ground behind a line that has Whit back.

Sad ending to the season but I did appreciate being so close during a rebuild year.

Good news is that he is fast. He's athletic and that can help when the line is leaking.

Bad news...he has no fuckin experience. So...we will see. Maybe he is our next Warner. Lol jk

I like Goff and I think you have to use a 2nd in this upcoming draft. The position is too important and he needs competition - clearly...
