Not at all, what I'm saying is people bringing up Ficken doing good is them suggesting we should also stick with Sloman through any early struggles he may end up having.

It is absolutely and positively 100% hypothetical. It's also 100% hypothetical that any kicker in the NFL could cost his team a game no matter what he's done in every game in his career prior to said game and to suggest anything else is quite honestly naive.
And for the record I couldn't give a shit about Sloman other than he plays for the Rams. The coaches made their choice based on what he did in practice compared to his competition. He deserves support from the Rams fans IMHO.
Hypothetically, Sloman could throw a game winning TD pass, make a game winning tackle or even throw a Yepremian INT returned for a TD
In reality, he's made 5 of his last 6 FG since his rough start, missing (barely) only a 53 yarder in to wind. I'm with you, I'm not sure why there is so much disdain for this guy. The Rams drafted him and felt he was best suited for the team, so he should have our support. Instead there seems to be almost hope that he fails so the "I told you so's" can come flying.

The purpose of the post, for those who read it was to gauge
how everybody felt about the kicking situation. To hear fellow ROD
Brothers opinions and maybe learn something new about the kicking game.
It has nothing to do with lack of support. I'm just trying to contribute
and create conversation.
One thing you will never see me do is call your opinion out as comical.
That's because I respect your opinion whether I agree with it or not.
I just don't see the need for others opinion to be dogged .
I dont see how saying you want the Rams to replace him with Liram is supporting him, considering the Rams felt the opposite way

If you read the end of my post it clearly states I don;t have a clue about the kicking game and was more or less asking for
opinions.
I'm fairly certain the only time I said anything was funny was in regards to one poster here saying the only reason Sloman got the job was because he went to the same college as our Head Coach.
I never questioned your post here that I'm aware of, I will however never stop rolling my eyes personally at the many many many shots thrown at Sloman in the threads that pop up about him or in the GDT after every kick he makes.
Your thread did exactly what you wanted it to do it's created discussion, one thing you may notice is the people in the GDT contribute very little if anything to this discussion, especially after games like last week where he was perfect. Like I said I have no dog in the fight but from day one most people around here picked their favorite in the competition, sometimes based on nothing more than a name or maybe not liking where somebody went to college. Some people it will never be enough for Sloman to be better than GZ his rookie year or even last year for us because he wasn't their guy.
Don't ever think I'm discouraging you from making threads, the only ones I do would be duplicate threads about the same topic. There are some peoples threads I simply don't participate in for my own reasons but by any and all means make a thread on any topic you want to and participate in every thread as well. I certainly make topics and participate in those I feel like it or have an opinion on the subject.

Sloman is a Good example imho because I believe many folks want a better kicker.
I'm a big Hurricanes fan and I've watched their kicker drill it almost every time on K.Os and he hits all the time,haven't seen him miss, Hit a 57 yarder that would have been good for 65 plus.Right thru the middle of the uprights.
Makes me want him, if Sloman comes out Game Day, he's the Man.
And You're 100 percent right, opinions make the World go round and Imho everyone is entitled to theirs.

At the time, I was, his kicking was beyond bad . I expected some early
misses, but he was few feet shy of hitting our oline in the back more than once.
His kicking did look better Sunday and hopefully he continues to get better.
When I say I support him, I mean that I hope like hell he proves me wrong.
I'll gladly eat that crow without A-1 sauce or beer.
If that's not support enough for you than just let me know when to show up for
my Crucifixion. Apparently I've committed some sort of blasphemy.

Yea I'm not on the Game Day thread. If I had known people were dogging him that hard,

I like kickers that can make a 58 yard field goal with the game on the line (>>Zuerlein). I was hoping Liram could be the replacement for Zuerlein for those long range kicks.
I don't think Sloman can do that. I think his range is limited to under 55 for the most part.
But I will always root for the guy since he is a Ram. And hopefully the Rams will never need another 58 yard field goal to get into the Superbowl again.

Having seen Lirim kick live in the CFL, that's who I was rooting for in tc. Even if he was the best kicker at the time or it was close, can't fault them for going with the younger kicker/potential of Sloman. If Lirim would have won the job there's no guarantee that we aren't looking for another kicker next year. I think it's the best choice to let Sloman develop as he's already shown improvement.
