Verse looked a little lazy out there at times. That Qb run where he didn't attempt to keep contain was really a poor effort. Snead is going to have to decide who gets a 2nd contract soon on the defensive front. Byron Young is looking like the best of the group but is also the oldest. Hoping this group turns it on for the playoff push. Hoping.
Verse played far more snaps than Young in this one. That missing 4th EDGE rusher is going to be a problem if either go down. Hampton offers the team nothing in that respect. I still say he should be an off the ball LB.

Our LB's / end rushers are just fine.... Snead needs to get some physical DB's that can slow down physical receivers. Right now our DB's get pushed around and are timid when it comes to open field tackling..... You can clearly see the hole without Lake present.

We play better with our backs against the wall, so from here on out i hope that's the case all the way to the SB.
I'm with you.... The chance that Stafford has another bone head game is very very slim... The Rams last possession looked like Calamity Jane was the QB for the Rams... lol.

1. Delay of Game.
2. Stafford takes a Sack.
3. Stafford Fumbles.

That had Raiders football written all over it. lol... I'll bet Stafford isn't gonna watch that piece of film.

It seems Carolina was running the ball down our throat and eating up the clock. Not much you can do about that except stop the run.
Which we didn't.
They did run the ball well, but 97 yards of Panthers passing and two TD's was squarely directed at Forbes. And the biggest issue was Stafford had three TO's that potentially caused a 21 point swing. Tough to recover from that one.

I think we could agree sf does not have a bad defense, seemingly depleted is not hurting them at all and they can beat anybody. We better watch out. Go, rams!
But why? We have 1 Dlineman who isn't 100% and Lake out and our D can't stop the run? They are missing their 2 best players Bosa and Waren and others. The Panthers couldn't run the ball worth shit. They couldn't do anything.

We had them on the ropes & Stafford fumbles. If anything, this game is on him.
Deflected pass -> INT
Threw behind Puka -> Pick 6
Charging downfield for game winning score -> sack / FF
We just can't overcome mistakes like that when we're -3 in turnovers. And, for once it wasn't KW's fault.
Let's regroup & get ready for the next one. But one thing's for sure: this team really doesn't like outdoor games in winter, so we gotta stack W's from here on out.

Boy I'll tell ya, we got exposed yesterday. Forget starting 9-2 including wins over Indy (when they were 7-1 hot), Jacksonville (AFC South leader), Houston (#1 D), SF, Seattle and Tampa. That one loss to Carolina exposed a lot. We're not 4 deep at OLB. We're not 3 deep at tall shut down CB. Coaching is questionable. QB totally shit the bed. Man we're in fucking trouble!!!!!

He could have ran the ball more. Both Williams and Corum were getting chunks of yardage against Carolina.

I just wish Shula would have done run blitzes more and pass blitzes on passing downs.
The offense was not the issue, they had only 1 punt. The QB? 3 turnovers, 2 of which in redzone, 1 returned for a TD.
Glad Staff got the bad game out of his system.
The defense? 2 TD scored on 4th down plays, as bad as they looked at times, that's 2 plays where either one doesnt hit and its a different game.
Alas, these things happen

We had our typical rushing stats (153 yards 8.5 per carry). To me that's outstanding for a pass first offense. Stafford just made some bone head plays is all. I don't see that happening again this season.

Right now it's difficult to blitz without Lake. He makes up for many short comings as we are seeing.

Night and day difference when he was out there. It's why I asked in the GDT why Davis was playing so much. When Poona was in, the Panthers were getting very little running inside. When he subbed out, they were pushing Tyler Davis around.
Another thing that I was also very disappointed with was the YAC their backs enjoyed all game long, it seemed.
Rams tacklers were being pushed 3-5 yards downfield all day.
Hardly heard the name Landman, called out either.

The Panthers abandoned the run vs. 49ers as the RBs had less than 10 carries in the game even though both backs were averaging over 5 ypc. They corrected that mistake vs. the Rams.

Oddly enough McVay sorta fell into the same trap.

The DE's were over pursuing a bit and when you do that in bad weather it's difficult to change course on a dime to recover.

I think Landman was watching the QB so he wouldn't have a 100 yard rushing day.... But ya he had a quiet day... Maybe he came down with a bad case of contractaextenionitis.

Like I said it's near impossible to over-come a -21 point swing away from home.

It's not working.
