Their d coordinator is the cardinals old dc. Runs a 3-4 as well.
Are the Giants going to convert to a 3-4? I knew he ran one in Arizona but wasn't sure what theyd do in NY. If they are going for a 3-4, this is not the best move for them.

Might as well just stop wasting your time with the mock drafts unt
Hey, all you draft guys... get me a new mock stat!! Muahahahahaha (you'll have done more mocks this year than in the last 5 years combined).

It's hard enough to project picks in rounds 2-4 but four 6th round picks? They might as well put names on a dart board and close their eyes.

Thing is, we HAD a good 4-3 defense before Wade got here. He comes in, and sure we ranked top ten overall, but that's only because teams were running for 7 ypc against us instead of passing. Now we end up getting rid of all of our players to build a 3-4. We're probably two years away from having a middle of the road defense now at this rate.
This was my concern with switching.
But, the Rams D was solid last year despite having guys out of their element.
TE D is already, or was, better than middle of the road. I think they gave a plan.
I personally would have stayed with a 4/3.
But, here we are.
Interesting to see what the plan is.

A lot of the guys you named seen like depth and rotational guys to me lol but I trust Wade

The Rams(McVay) said I believe we are fine on offense. Will look to help the defense of side.
This thing Rams team is like a loose locomotive !! No one is safe & it’s hard to slow down.

I look at what the The coaching staff did last season. It’s so hard to tell the direction they are going to go .

1. Wade liked Barron. He has great mental toughness.
2. Ogletree never fit ! All the posters kept saying move him outside to take Barron’s spit.
3. Barron is excellent in coverage , but The Rams need a thump or a speed backer that just makes plays. Shazier, Hawks, & Baltimore type LBer.

Wow, didn't see this coming ... understand though.

Also, who here thinks Les is trolling and just trying to screw up everybody's mocks on ROD?

Wow Couldn't believe this when I just logged in. Man we got some negative cap from this :/

Excellent move for the Giants.... we must of thought the cost to value ration of his play wasn't worth it obviously otherwise we wouldn't have traded him this year.

It's going to be interesting what they view to do in this draft.

I refuse to believe Snead and our scouting dept. doesn't already have some late round picks that will be cheap throughout 4-5 years that they have targeted for our defense that are scheme fits. With a few low key FA's. We are projecting into 2019 and 2020 financially like crazy!

Hau'oli Kikaha I think could be had for one or two of these picks saints have okafor and he might be available I'd love a signing of galette even at 30 he can keep seat warm for young guys with signing of a dt and CB the restructure wouldn't be that bad having Kikaha is a trade young no money really galette wouldn't break the bank and pick 23 now becomes an inside backer and your money is going to a dt, galette and another 2 FA cornerbacks counting NRC as one of them .....is something like that possible with our cap? My concern of course is Donald but I'm no capologist I'm just so intrigued by wt plan is in motion here I can't stand the wait lol

A few thoughts off the top of my head that I haven’t yet seen here...

Remember that Snead interview the other day where he said that being able to observe the players last year gave them certainty about which players fit, and which players didn’t? Well, he wasn’t kidding.

This staff has NO problem making personnel decisions and moving on from non-fit players. How refreshing.

Snead has now made THREE major trades in 12 days, y’all. Wow!

Do you suppose that the surviving Ram players are getting the message? Either you’re a scheme fit and play your ass off or you’re outta here. “Pretty good” is no longer good enough.

Clearly, Wade had to “make do” last year while the O got fixed. Well, now it’s his turn and he’s attacking it with a vengeance.

I won’t miss those Ogletree arm tackles.

We might see 7 new starters on D come opening day (unless Barron somehow survives this purge). That’s expansion club territory.

I expected an active offseason for the D, but this is ridiculous. I love it.

I strongly suspect that our new D (and that’s definitely what it will be) will be much, much better vs the run this year. Among other things.

Top 5 D in ‘18 wouldn’t surprise me one bit since there will be better scheme fits in so many places.

And this is only March 7th! We better stay buckled up, guys. Lol.

Overpaying marginal talent was a trademark of the Rams for years (Long, Laurinitis, Tru, Austin, Tree, Quinn, etc. etc.). Hopefully that era coming to an end.
Quinn was in his prime when he signed that contract. I wouldn't loop him in with the others.

I expect them to convert some of those 6th rounders into trade up ammo.... maybe turning our 4ths into 3rds or a 5th into a 4th etc..

This is exactly what I think. Last year was a fix the O - lets be honest it was terrible! This year it's fix the D. And we're getting rid of players, good players, that just didn't fit. the Rams are now about TEAM performance, and it's all about getting the right personnel for the TEAM.

I would have liked better than a 4th, but hey, I totally trust Snead - all of these minor picks are gig to be packaged up for draft day shenanigans.

Everybody knew that our LBs weren't the best last year, look back at the game day threads people. All of the "OMG I can't believe this" people are probably the same people that were moaning about AO's weak arm tackling last season. What this move proves to me is that McVay (and coaching team) are not scared of cutting ties with ANYBODY. If you don't fit then you're dead weight.

Damn I'm excited about next year already!!!

Wade and the gang must have confidence in Ebukam, Littleton, and the rest of the backup LB's. Remember also that the picks we get from the Giants are at the top of the board because of their lousy record last season.

A few thoughts from Giants fans...

WELCOME THE NEWEST GIANT!!!

http://boards.giants.com/forum/new-...nts-football/3091005-welcome-the-newest-giant

WOW I love this move!!!!
-------------
ALEC OGLETREE!!!!

LOVE IT!!!!!!
-------------
we got the best LB this team has seen since Jessie Armstead.
----------
In a year where the NFL draft was the deepest its been in years at this position.

I've never thought he was very good, and his cap hit is an astronomical $11M from what I remember.

He is a LB though, that should make people excited, not me.
-----------
He's really good man, he's also a good character guy and a great leader.
-----------
Cant believe anyone wouldn't like this move. Some just like to be miserable I guess.
-----------
My roommate is a Rams fan and absolutely hated him. He is currently celebrating he's gone. He is pretty damn sketchy vs the run. He was significantly better it seemed when he was at OLB. I'm interested to see where they put him at.
----------
The Rams front office is celebrating too. They cleared cap space and got rid of an overpriced guy who is simply not that good. Hopefully Bettchers scheme will fit Ogletree and he'll play better here.

Ogletree led the league in missed tackles (17) by a linebacker in run defense in 2016.
----------
It's his CRAZY contract that SCARES us. WHAT in the WORLD were the Rams thinking giving BOTH Olgetree and Austin 4 yr 42m contracts??
----------
He's a tremendous player. I live in LA and watched every game he's ever played, he's a beast. He's all over the filed on every play. We desperately needed someone like this.
--------
Not ideal considering he struggles to tackle.

He'll make a few splash plays every now and again but he was not worth that contract. Good on the Rams for getting what they did.
OK! We get the 2nd pick #102 in the 4th round, But the Giants don't have a 6th round pick, that I can find, per Drafttek, so what 6th rounder do we get!!?:dizzy:

Les, you better hit on these new contracts and FAs! I understand we have to fix our cap but damn, we lost our two veteran leaders on defense. I guess Brockers and Donald will be captains next year.

If we've waited too long to be good and IF we regress..........let's just say that better not happen.
