I dont see how resigning our own player counts against us in comp formula. Since Brockers was never technically a Raven than this is simply just a resigning.
Its the fact they did not sign elsewhere. So they lose a "loss" in the formula

cap savings must have been the reason for letting him go in the first place. I wonder if this will throw a wrench into some future plan that mcsnead had. anyway welcome back big brock
If A'Shawn Robinson does not play up to his contract the Rams can easily trade or release him before the 2021 season without much dead money involved & a good sized cap savings too. Still have Brockers, Greg Gaines & Sebastian Joseph-Day signed for 2021/2022 seasons.

Not having enough salary cap funds can cost your team the opportunity to sign a future 2021 UFA Jalen Ramsey too.

A nice quantity & quality of Draft Selections each year are vital elements involving the good mixer to make a winning team.

Depending on utilization of $$$ big UFA signings in order to build or refurbish your team normally results in failure. CDPA's have played an important part for the one team who has won more championships over the last two decades than any other NFL team. I would never underestimate the real value of 2nd day draft selections to an NFL team who has a good GM like Snead.

Right.
Getting three players for the cost of one....or two.

So you would rather have Brockers (older) over littleton? I guess it would depend on the new defense.
As for the "against the run" comments I read on here, name a good run stopper who doesn't have a stout guy in the middle (NT) eating blockers. That's been an area of concern since they started moving Donald around and shifted Brockers to DE.

Pass coverage in general is essential these days and that's where littleton excelled.

But like I said, I guess it comes down to the type of new system they're installing.

Is it about trying to win or piling up midround....by definition high percentage of misses.....draft picks.
Having better depth/quality on the DL excites me a lot more than an extra 4th or 5th round pick.

We need cheap talent. The opportunity cost here isn't Brockers versus a late 4th. It's Brockers versus a late 4th and a player we could have signed for the money he costs.

Love Brockers but would have preferred to bring back Littleton. Looks like Robinson will be NT as well.

Woot! This makes me happy because he's one of my favorite Rams. Solid player and a great leader and team mate

If it was an either or choice, Littleton.
It’s all hindsight now.
Looked as if all three were gone at the time.

The thing is that with each offseason that passes, I feel like the salary cap matters less and less. The Falcons signed Todd Gurley to a deal for 6 or 7 mil with only 1 mil in reported cap space left.

Such as whom?
Give a name you’d like for lesser money on three years that would contribute at the level Brockers does.

I wonder how much guaranteed money Brockers is getting.

No it's not at all losing Saffold was monumental, losing Brockers will not hurt the Rams.

I just meant that Saffold had signed to Oakland and due to injury, the Raiders backed off and he came back at a discount...

Good to see Brock is sticking with us. Good team mate and locker room guy as well as being a very good D-lineman. I've just always thought his value was under rated by many fans.

Wasn't he also a good buddy of AD? Weren't he and Fowler the two dudes that did that Pizza MNF video with AD this season? That was a hoot!

Good to have you back Brock!

Exactly. What happened with Brockers had nothing to do with Littleton and Fowler, because all three looked to be gone and it was a fluke with an independent doctor not being sure about the ankle. Our team Doc(s) know Brock's condition intimately, and so were not hesitant .

I am very excited to have him back and it's one of the few bright spots in FA to me.
